Awesome! I've been to some of these trendy little cupcake shops that seem to be popping up all over the place, that won't be around in two years, and they all seemed kind of the same. I've also found that I've never been impressed with the few that I've tried. In fact, some of them have been downright inedible. Which brings the question, how can you make something that looks so delicious taste so awful?
This was not one of those experiences. Everything in this little corner shop looked amazing. We sampled quite a few items and none of them let us down.
Here are some of the items we tried. One of them, I believe, was called peanut butter madness cupcake. We tried the Oreo cupcake. Also, the banana cream pie cupcake. All of them were fantastic. Here's something that they do that you don't always see. For example, the banana cream cupcake. It was actually filled with banana cream pie filling. I didn't expect it which made the cupcake 10 times better than it already was. I literally went banana cream crazy! They are moist fresh tasting cupcakes.
We also tried a couple of their truffles. The key lime as well as the chocolate. Best way to describe their truffles is this. Amputee-Cake pops, dense and moist on the inside, with a candy dipped outside. No stick. Also, excellent.
Would I go back? Abso-cupcake-lutely! I would recommend this to anyone that likes cupcakes or cake in general. Sad news though is that it is highly unlikely I will go back. This was a quick visit to Chattanooga and one of the few places that happened to be open on New Year's Day. Made the afternoon! However, I will remember their beautiful sweet cupcakes finally. As if, they were the ones that...
Read moreOk. This was our first and only trip here. Let's start with when we first get there. They have a sign hangout saying no public bathrooms. My husband has to go next door to use the bathroom. Which is against federal law. We should have known this wasn't going to be good and just left at this point. Away we look at what's available while my husband walks across the street in the rain so he can pee and rush back to get something for all of us so we can finish out trip to the pediatric neurology at Children's. I was excited to see the actually have napoleon here! We all pick out what we each want. 4 individual size items ran us $20. Ok, well, it looks good, so for the price , I look forward to some fresh, delicious bakery goods. So my son and I each got a napoleon. OMG, it was so stale, and the custard was like rubber! It was absolutely horrible. I have never been so disappointed. Just after finding a place that sells napoleon, I'm this area I lost it. Then my husband and daughter each got a brownie. One had the smore and the other one that was all chocolate. They were also stale and dried out and just horrible. This is the first time I have ever paid this much for bakery items (lots of amazing bakeries where I grew up and my Mom even worked in one) and first time I have not gotten fresh items made that day. I don't know how old these items were, but they were too old to be selling to customers. I am really disappointed. We really wanted to try this place and like it but will continue to look for a good quality bakery in this area. We definitely weren't prepared for this level of disappointment. I honestly don't know how this place stays...
Read moreUpdate 11/19/23, Sunday afternoon, surprisingly they were still open at 6pm, ran in with my grandaughters to give em a 2nd chance before having dinner at the killer joint across the street, Mayan Kitchen (review on my page), ended up spending $50 for 1 Cake Jar, 6 cupcakes, 1 of the smaller cream puffs & a teeny Dolly sticker...not bad. Boston Cream Pie flavor was pretty good, fresh, yummy but the cake jar is a mess of too many of the teeth rotting straight sugary icings with just a dab of actual cake, wow, everyone knows that teeth grinding sugar icing that is so sweet it's sickening....times that by 3 different flavors of it layered in a jar. Whoa. Not sure how all the others turned out, I'll ask & update later but the 2nd visit & I'm unimpressed with the baking, the overall recipes for their cupcakes, Ive had much better from friends, family & strangers in my life. However, they were loaded to the ceiling with tons of flavors & inventory, plenty of goodies & treats, most full iv ever seen the display cases....anywhere, at any bakery. That was impressive.
At 9:02pm, I offered to spend $50 or more if we cud just buy the few cupcakes they had left (bc otherwise they'd be thrown out, or shud be) the rude girl that came out of the back rudely says "no, they are closed, they've been closed" 2 minutes after supposed closing time. Why they'd rather throw out food & turn down money makes zero sense to this Chattanooga family. Oh well, we'll spend...
