So Liza did flowers for my wedding. We were on a budget so we only asked for a bridal bouquet and four bridesmaid bouquets. I will start by saying that the bouquets were beautiful so she does do good work. However, communication with her was a struggle. I tried to follow up with her via email (which she told me was the best way to communicate with her) to finalize the bridesmaids bouquets maybe 2-3 months before the wedding. I very clearly shared with her what I wanted and in her responses it seemed like she just skimmed the emails and really wasn’t reading what I was asking of her. I know she is a busy lady and I totally understand that! If she had simply responded saying something like “hey I’m super busy right now let me get back to you in a few days when I’m more focused” that would have been great! So trying to get the bridesmaids bouquets finalized was a bit of a struggle but finally got on the same page after a few days of emails. At the last minute, about 3-4 weeks before the wedding I asked if she could provide flowers for my cake, specifically white flowers with some dusty miller and some small greenery, and I wasn’t sure because I knew it was so close to the date so I was prepared for a no but she did tell me yes! She told me that she would provide enough for my three tiered cake, three clusters of flowers for each tier plus a topper piece. The day of the wedding came, and as I said before the bouquets were beautiful! However she only gave three roses, a small bunch of filler flowers, and a huge about of eucalyptus! Not what I asked for nor was it what she told me via email she would provide. The delivery girl told my parents (who signed for the flowers as I was elsewhere at the time) that if there was any kind of issue to call and they’d be happy to make sure that we were happy! So I called Liza and left a voicemail just asking for some more flowers for cake. When she called back she had a little bit of an attitude with me. She claimed that that was the $30 worth of cake flowers... I never asked for just $30 worth of cake flowers, I just told her what I wanted without asking for a price, so I still don’t understand where that came from. She then claimed that she has “been doing this for awhile and any more flowers will be over kill”. I told her that all we have are three roses and a very small amount of little filler flowers and that’s not enough for three tiers! And I simply asked for maybe 6 more roses and some more filler. She did not seem happy but she reluctantly agreed to send the delivery girl back with some extra. The delivery girl came and she was GREAT! She was super helpful and made sure to meet with me and told me that she didn’t want to leave until I was happy. So that was great! But, I was very disappointed in Liza especially on the day of my wedding not being very nice about me asking for more cake flowers. At the end of the day it was only a small snaffu and my cake looked beautiful with little clusters on each tier! If I could go back in time I would have chosen another florist though. I just felt like I was a burden to her because I wasn’t spending thousands of dollars on flowers. She does great work, but I just didn’t enjoy working with her. Wish I had gone with someone else.
**Response to Liza: I encourage you to re-read my review, please. I loved all the bouquets. All I am really criticizing is the communication. The cake flowers turned out in the end, after we got more, and I was happy in the end! I just don't think we communicated well together. The thing that disappointed me the most was simply not receiving what I was promised, and if you go back and read our emails I think you'll see what I am talking about as far as not asking specifically for $30 flowers up front, specifically the email on 9/3. Also, I hope you take this as a constructive criticism and not as a hurtful attack, as that is certainly...
Read moreThis is the only place I will buy houseplants locally. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and go above and beyond. As a houseplant hobbyist of 15+ years, I have, unfortunately, murdered my fair share of my beloved plant children through a wide variety of gruesome mistakes and faced every variety of pest and plague imaginable. Loving something does not make you great at it, I have learned, and it certainly doesn't make nature stop doing it's thing. :/ Fox and Fern is the only place I have ever known that is willing to answer my questions long after purchase, and even offer advice and recommendations on how to better care for my plants- even if it wasn't purchased at the shop! I have brought plants in to be re-potted and to ask for advice or to troubleshoot a problem and I always walk out happier, better equipped...and usually with another plant. So grateful for this gem.
(Including a picture of my last Fox and Fern purchase which came with a tiny cowboy hat because why...
Read moreAbout one week before my wedding celebration, I suddenly realized I hadn’t ordered a bouquet. I quickly emailed Liza to see if she could squeeze me in. Additionally, I had this last minute idea to include peacock feathers into the bouquet to match our theme. Knowing the time was short notice and the peacock feather request was not a traditional request, I fully expected no one would even answer me. Liza blew me away. She emailed me back about an hour later, and turns out, she had peacock feathers on hand in her shop already!! She was very accommodating to our schedule and worked really hard to get everything done in time. Additionally, the bouquet was gorgeous and whimsical and truly beautiful. She even managed to add a couple of succulents to it so I could plant them after the fact and enjoy them for longer! You can tell she put thought and passion into it and it brought me so much joy. Thanks for all you did to make our day...
