We are visiting from Atlanta for a weekend Labor Day getaway! My boyfriend stopped at a rest stop and picked up several brochures. To my surprise, he wanted to do this tour, so I agreed. We arrived at 8:45 for the 9p show and the greeter showed the group videos and pics of ghost encounters from previous tours. My first red flag was the fact she was yelling her presentation from inside their office and through a small ticket window! She had an iPad and would hold it up for all 20 of us to view the pictures and video :/ And then she then asks us all to follow our tour guide on this 45-60 walking tour (keyword-"walking" )! Although I told my boyfriend it was a walking tour vs. a bus tour, he still wanted to do it-sore leg and all :/ We begin to walk with a large group of people and most of them were talking, so it was hard to hear the tour guide . Random strangers walking on the sidewalks and streets also decided to join the tour half way through - (very annoying, seeing that we paid $17.95/pp after all the junk fees)! I was shocked no wrist bands were given or even tickets! I felt like I could've walked up and just joined the tour as well without paying and no one would've known the difference! We walk nearly half a mile and the guide stops and begins to tell stories about the history of Chattanooga. We walk over a glass bridge and land in front of a historic museum where he talks about ghosts that haunt it to this day. We stood there for about 15-20 minutes as he rambles and tells cheesy stories. We walk to a cool horse statue for a moment, then cross back over the same bridge....he stops and talks more about history facts. We then proceed to walk down sidewalks- as we bobbed and weaved through pedestrians going in and out of busy shops and restaurants. We stop in front of some old apartments-which he jokes and says, "no ghosts live here" :/ then tell he tells us about a serial killer named Jon Brown and how he terrorized Chattanooga. Then, we walk between an Applebee's and Chili's restaurant, which Is similar to 'Underground Atlanta' and he rambles about homeless people who live under ground year round and during a lot of rain; flooding occurs and if the homeless people don't leave In time, they can drown! Um, needless to say, when the tour continued, our guide turned left, and ....we turned right, along with about 5 other people! The group was slowly dwindling because people were walking off half way through the tour! We all laughed as we headed toward our cars and asked why we spent the money. My boyfriend and I chaulked it up to "walking off dinner " and "a chance to spend time together !" If you want a history lesson (which I doubt most of the tales were true-I took notes to research later! ), then this is the tour for you, but save the $20 bucks ... Not worth the money ...the most they should...
Read moreIt’s my first time in Tennessee, & I’m a big fan of the supernatural and afterlife. Among our arrival I came across this on the internet. I was like “ yep, we’re going !” The experience was a one of a kind, one. Although I personally didn’t see any spirits , I could certainly feel them . And the equipment that was provided only validated those feelings. Between the EMF detector , the Ovilus and the spirit box , we got lots of activity. When we would ask certain questions we would get very intelligent responses in return. When it came down to my personal experience. I could sense where a spirit was or if they just weren’t there at all. I would move along the tour with the guide and look to a location before he would even get to the story and sure enough it’s where someone had died ! Mind blown! But the highlight of my night was when the spirits knew of me being a mother and also losing a child.( no one there knew these things about me) When I asked the Ovilus on the way back if my baby I lost were a boy or girl , I got “ Boy” ... that in itself was worth every penny and I needed that ... now as far as dale the guide, he is a great guy! He is very sympathetic to the spirts. Very respectful with them & that was amazing to me. Once he felt as if something wasn’t right , he would end it out of respect for them ... and that’s what you look for in a guide ... he cleanses you at the end with sage and as a Native American myself , I loved that! Thank you again for a great time . I enjoyed myself and will forever remember...
Read moreIt’s actually a great way to pass some time at night (especially when my partner and I aren’t into drinking). Nice little 1.5 hour walk. I’m definitely a spiritual person but was honestly disappointed that the entire tour sounded really false; most if not all the stories told sounded so fabricated. I felt like that during the tour, and after we got back to the car I immediately pulled out my phone to fact check three different things/historical facts I remembered her (Jessica) saying. And none of them turned out to be true.
At one point when she’s making small talk with us while crossing the street, she said that there are giant fishes that can swallow a human being in the river next to us that have been eating people kayaking/boating once in a while and urged us to not go near the water. For her to say something so far from reality, it just makes you wonder about all the history you’re hearing. This tour is consisted of horror stories you’d tell seven year olds over camp fire but not an adult who actually believes in ghosts in a reasonable manner. At least that’s how I feel. Still had a great time though because the walk is nice and the spots we visited are interesting. I have no doubt that some of the spots are haunted but I wish the tour itself could have been more fact based. I would still recommend people to do this tour because it is entertaining but just wanted to share my honest...
