I almost never write bad reviews. I am a big believer that if you do not have anything nice to say, then do not say anything. However, fellow travelers, we had quite a miserable experience at the Comfort Suites! This was not our first stay, it was the second chance, and they blew it! During our last visit, we were on the first floor with lots of noise from foot traffic going toward the lobby, and we did not have the great bay view that the hotel boasts on its website. So this time, we arrived a little before check-in time, and our room was not ready. Others in our group who arrived after us were able to check in early. The front office staff told us to wait, and that they would let us know about the wait time but then they forgot to follow up with us as we waited in the lobby. When we had to leave for our event, we loaded everything back in the car and asked about the room. The front desk apologized that it was still not ready but reassured us it was a great room with an excellent view of the bay and not on the first floor. I have sensory struggles, and rooms near elevators or with a lot of outside foot traffic provoke anxiety. So, when we got back to the hotel, we had to go through the check-in process again with a staff member that did not seem to enjoy her job very much. I am trying to be polite. Our room was on the first floor, practically in the lobby, and the view was of the patio attached to the pool with the shrieks of children enjoying their splash time. I went back to the front desk to beg for a change (which I hate to do), only to be dismissed that they were sold out. I reviewed the promise of the previous staff member, only to be told, "I don't see those notes." So, now I am lying, I guess! I tried to explain the reason for the request and was once again told they were sold out. I left defeated but decided to return to see if I could pay for an upgrade...or anything really. While I waited, a couple checked in for a room without a reservation. This time Helen tried to politely explain that they were sold out and did not have any other rooms of our type. Again, I asked for any type, and explained the reason. She could not help but at least responded in a kind tone, unlike her colleagues, who had no appreciation for customer service. Then, I went to a travel site to see what other hotels were available, and to my disbelief, there were rooms at the Comfort Suites!!! So, now my trust is completely destroyed! The room is not modern and chic as described; it is loud. The breakfast does have a lot of choices for hungry children, but it is not a breakfast that earns quality accolades. And the front office staff, except for Helen, are rude, and lack any hospitality or compassion for people who are neurodivergent. We had planned a whole weekend in Chincoteague but decided to leave early due to this experience. Other hotels were actually sold out. I don't know if the behavior we experienced at this Comfort Suites is typical for the brand or if these ladies are just overworked and don't care about...
Read moreSo I want to start off with this is our 3rd stay here and it is still an awesome hotel clean well maintained rooms, good amenities, and the location is perfect. While most of the staff is awesome we did have the unfortunate circumstance to be greeted by an employee in a less than satisfactory way.
Christina at the Front Desk apologized profusely for Erin's actions, but it still left a bad impression and while my wife and I sat and ate our breakfast afterwards we had a couple more interactions with Erin and she was gruff and just not friendly, moral of the story is Erin probably shouldn't be interacting with Guests if that's what her attitude is like, and she should also learn to determine what happened in a situation before verbally attacking the guests that make her paycheck possible.
Don't get me wrong it was a mess, a decent size one, sure it's a pain to clean up, sure its inconvenient, but it is unfortunately part...
Read moreSuch an amazing stay! I booked the Presidential Suite 10/24/22-10/26/22. Check in was a breeze and were also able to accommodate my early check-in request. The room looked just like the photos! The staff was phenomenal- ALL of them!! Very personable people. The trip was a surprise for my Honey’s Birthday. They even left him a card which the staff signed, chips and water. The last minute thought was very kind. Outstanding hospitality! (Call ahead for their romance package) The room was very spacious, comfortable and CLEAN! (I would love to know what they cleaned with it smelled amazing!). Large beautiful bathroom (with PLENTY towels), kitchenette with full sized fridge, sink, microwave, Kurieg coffee maker, plates and silverware (even had dish soap/ cloth). The King sized bed was comfy- I definitely slept well. Nice sectional couch which is also a pullout (there were even extra pillows and linens for the pullout packaged in the closet) I love pillows so I just threw the extra two on the bed. Hot tub was big enough for two tall adults which was impressive. We could sit at opposite ends and have plenty leg space. Also had its own set of towels. The fireplace & wrap-around balcony overlooking outdoor pool and fountain/ bay put everything over the top. The breakfast had a variety and I like that they served breakfast until 11am. Included eggs, sausage/ ham slices (served different days), waffle maker, muffins, boiled eggs, yogurt, bread/ bagels (toaster), beverages. Indoor pool and hot tub were pleasant and clean. My friends could argue I have OCD when it comes to cleanliness- I do, especially when staying in hotels. This property is clean all around, hands down, inside and out! To book a room and get EXACTLY what you saw online can be kind of tough sometimes even disappointing- not the case here. Such a peaceful place to retreat and relax. Will definitely be back to Chincoteague and we look forward to staying here again! If you can book the Presidential Suite it’s worth it. I would stay here again even if it wasn’t available. (Note: October is the off season most shops/ eateries I wanted to visit were closed for the season but we still had fun...
