Visited end of October. This is our first time at this Island Creamery but have visited the one in Berlin Maryland when we camped at Assateague State Park with my son's BSA troop in August. This one did not disappoint either and it was MUCH bigger. They also sold ice cream cakes which was cool. We got 4 single scoops, pineapple upside down cake (which was everyone's favorite and taste just like the real thing), bourbon caramel crunch (bourbon flavor is pretty strong which is good if that's what you're looking for), butter brittle (all around very good) and cake batter (my 5 year old's favorite). For COVID they are requiring masks and spacing patrons 6 ft apart within the shop. Staff members were actively signaling patrons to move around and stay physically distanced. There is dine in options available with tables spaced 6ft apart which was nice since it was actively raining when we visited but we did not feel comfortable eating in there and ate in our van. There is seating outside and trash cans. There is also a bathroom inside the store along with a little merchandise section to get t-shirts etc. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Especially visiting in the off season times as a lot of other dessert places are closed by late October.
Visited a second time and got single scoops of rocket fuel (nice after burn with the pepper), marsh mud (so thick with chocolate it's almost like fudge), cinnamon bun (great if you love cinnamon and it had bun chunks too) and pony tracks (peanut butter cups which my youngest loved the best). Photos included. Also picked up a quart of pineapple upside down...
Read moreI was hesitant to try it here because of the long line outside. Every night of every year we come to the island the line here goes about 30 deep outside the door. This was scary in the sense it was assumed our wait would be over 30 minutes but positive because it must be good if its always packed. However…we arrived (5 tonout party) around 9pm and were about 20th in line outside. We got in and had to order immediately. I definitely suggest looking at the menu prior to arrival because of all the great flavors to choose from. Luckily we all knew what we wanted. The system for ordering is top notch! One person taking orders on an ipad…order with her then follow the line to checkout after giving the name for the order. The line moves quickly! Reasonable prices for the only truly “homemade ice cream” which it surely was! We got a 3 scoop banana split and a chocolate waffle cone (homemade to order) with 2 generous scoops for about $20. Not too bad The ice cream was flawless and creamy and the flavors were unique and well rounded…from fruity to classics to loaded varieties. Absolutely amazing! Plenty of seating outside or inside, friendly staff, and great system. To my knowledge there was no soft-serve but no issues with that. I could be wrong about the soft serve. From now on we will be going here instead of Mr. Whippys, our usual stop which ONLY has soft serve with barely any flavors. I now see why tbey are always busy! We will make this our new annual ice cream place! My only suggestion is to look at the menu prior to arriving online if possible! ...
Read moreDOES NOT ACCOMMODATE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS. I am so disappointed. I have visited the other two locations and had fantastic experiences. I love Island Creamery ice cream and I was super excited about visiting the original location. However, I was not able to get what I typically order. Due to having metastatic pancreatic cancer, I can only have the equivalent of a kids portion...and I very rarely can have this treat. At the other two locations, I have been able to have two different flavors in a kids portion. But at this location I was told they were unable to accommodate my request. I explained that the other locations have accommodated me without hesitation. I have reviewed and posted pictures in fact. But I was told by two people at this location that they didn't care what was done at the other location, they didn't do it. They were not busy and I explained my health situation. They said it didn't matter. I needed to purchase a larger portion if I wanted more than one flavor. If I had a way to measure how much I could safely have, I would have done that and thrown the rest away, but I was unprepared to do that. So my friend and I left without purchasing anything. I just felt so sad afterwards. My family and friends are very disheartened by this as well. If I hadn't been able to have my request accommodated at the other locations, I wouldn't have been so brokenhearted. I typically enjoy sharing my experiences at locally owned restaurants, but this is one I am sorry I...
