My recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Easton was, at best, mediocre. While I wasn’t expecting luxury, I did expect basic cleanliness and customer service — both of which fell short.
The room itself was not the cleanest. I found quarters hidden around the room, which leads me to believe that surfaces weren’t being cleaned thoroughly, and there was enough debris on the floor that I felt the need to wear house shoes just to feel comfortable. That alone didn’t ruin my experience — I like to think I roll with the punches — but what truly left a bad impression was what happened after I checked out.
I had to leave the hotel quickly Saturday morning to travel to Athens, Ohio, where I was leading a memorial service for a friend’s mother. In the rush, I accidentally left my pink suit — which I had worn the night before to officiate a wedding — hanging in the closet. I realized my mistake around 5 p.m. that same day and called the front desk. Unfortunately, the employee I spoke with didn’t seem to care at all. She looked up my reservation but didn’t take my number or offer any reassurance. Her attitude was dismissive, and she simply said they’d reach out if anything turned up.
The next morning, I called again and spoke to a much more helpful employee who took the time to follow up with the housekeeping supervisor. She informed me that my suit was in the manager’s office, but the manager was at lunch and would call me later. That seemed promising.
However, when I followed up again today, I spoke to an employee named Chad who told me that he’d overheard the previous day’s call, checked the room himself, and claimed the suit wasn’t there — and that no one had turned anything in.
Now I’m left confused and frustrated. Was my suit ever found? Where did it go? It seems to have vanished, and I don’t believe I’ll be getting it back. It’s either been thrown away or taken by someone. Either way, I’m incredibly disappointed — not just in the loss of my suit, but in the lack of professionalism and care shown during this entire process.
I’m a frequent guest of IHG properties and have come to expect a certain standard of service, especially after having a similar situation happen to me at an IHG property in Pensacola, FL except it was the hotel who reached out to me eager to reunite me with my belonging. All of this combined makes this experience even more disheartening. Based on this stay alone, I would not recommend this hotel. The lack of accountability and communication is simply less...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE Staff is absolutely trash at customer service and communication within their team. The management team has no time for you if something goes wrong. My visit: I called ahead of my booking day because my flight was delayed overnight and spoke with a desk member who told me that I'd be charged a $125 fee because I wouldn't be showing up at the original booking day. I explained that my flight is delayed until the morning and it is out of my control. She then said that she will make a note to management to not charge me the fee and booked me for that morning until the length of my stay. I noticed my Google email had updated my calendar with 2 separate stays under the same week proving the associate re booked me after saying I would need to re book due to the "no show" I get to the hotel and the desk associate was already aware that I called about my delayed flight and was very accommodating (young light skinned guy) I get to my room and try to shower to only find out there is NO hot water on floors 3 or 4. Called the desk to ask and was told to "let it run for an hour". He called back to apologize after that and went as far to offer me a different room closer to the water heater but it was still very surprising that it was a common problem. The wifi connection is terrible so all of my business meetings dropped for 4 days straight. My team is 24 guys and none of us could use the wifi. I work 5am-5pm at these jobsites and I get off work hit the gym and put ice on my muscles after.... None of the ice machines worked in the building. Come to check out day I notice the $125 late fee was added and asked the associate about it and her response was that it will be deducted in 3 days. The manager CHAD called me 3 days later saying that the fee will stand and that I'm not allowed to stay at this specific location any longer for "Causing him stress on a monday" like what? I even offered screenshots of the email updates booking me again for the nexr day. He HUNG UP on me!! 🤣😂🤣😂 Who is this guy and how did he land a position of power at a corporate hotel company. Im Diamond Elite mind you. I stay at multiple IHG locations 5 days a week but this specific site is not one to use. I wouldn't waste my time reviewing if I wasn't treated like a cheating ex girlfriend 😆😆 Chad needs to be removed and check out...
Read moreI have done a lot of traveling and have stayed at several Holiday Inn Hotels. Unfortunately my stay at this hotel was not very pleasant. The biggest issue is the cleanliness of the common areas. The pool was absolutely disgusting. On our first day we went to swim and found the the floor in the pool area covered in old band aids, the string from a man's bathing suit, an old sock, and a lot of hair balls and debris. The water in the pool was also very cloudy and full of debris floating in the water, didn't seem normal to have the water that cloudy. We told someone at the front desk about how dirty the floor was. The next morning we checked the floor and found it to be just as dirty except the large string was gone. My husband again told someone at the front desk. Finally by the time we wanted to swim that evening the floor was somewhat cleaner (still lots of debris around the edge of the room). However the pool had a lot of debris floating it and was still very cloudy, I was just too grossed out to let my kids swim in the pool.
I also found the hallways of this hotel (carpet and tile) to be very dirty. On our floor (during our entire 3 day stay) the same water cap was in the hall and a huge coffee stain on the tile by the elevator. It seemed as if the floor hadn't been vacuumed in days. I understand throughout the course of the day things can happen but for garbage, stains, and filth to be there from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning proves housekeeping is not actively cleaning these areas.
We also had issues with our room being uncomfortably warm. We turned the thermostat down to 66 yet the room felt like it was 80 degress and stuffy. I think part of the problem is the bathroom didn't have a fan so when all four of us showered the room filled with warm air and had no where to go. Not sure anything can be done about this but it seemed others were having the same issue as one morning I found four other rooms on our floor with the doors cracked. I assume trying to get some fresh air??
For the most part our room was clean when we arrived and properly cleaned the next day as well.
With the number of hotel choices that are out there I just can't imagine ever returning to this hotel. I was very disappointed...
