The first thing to note is that the reason I chose M Star was because I needed a cheap room for the night. I wasn't looking for any particular amenities nor was I looking for a classy place to stay. I needed a roof, shower and a clean bed. M Star was right on point with my needs. The best way I can describe M Star is Dated. The TV was a old style CRT with the heavy glass tube, the curtains and couch were old school looking like they came from my grandma's house. The layout was very "motel" style with all exterior corridors, this allows you to park directly in front of your room. The room was small but ample. There was a small couch as soon as you entered on one side followed by a nightstand with an alarm clock that was at least 2 decades old. The bed was a king offering lots of space to sprawl out. At the end of the room down an obvious slope in the floor was a sink and a large mirror allowing someone to get ready while not monopolizing the bathroom. The handles on the facet both showed hot, but were fortunately plumbed correctly. Off to the side was the shower and toilet. The toilet ran constantly all night long which could have kept a lighter sleeper awake all night long. The shower head was....well just awful. I'm 6'2'' and I had to squat way down to get my head. When I could get my head wet the water was basically a trickle, and it left me feeling slightly slimey. The only redeeming quality of this shower was was hot water. Humorously enough when checking in the gentleman made sure to let me know that he upgraded the bed size while still giving me the "sale" rate I got for reserving online. However on the backside of the front door to my room listed the rooms rate and it was listed a couple dollars cheaper then the super special "sales" rate he made sure to tell me about lol. In the end the room was exactly what I expected it to be....a semi safe, semi clean room to provide me with a roof over my head while remaining...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here this past weekend Saturday & Sunday night. It was a great place with great rates. We didn't book ahead of time, actually it was a last minute decision. We almost didn't go to this hotel due to the reviews online since many of the reviews didn't sound very good. That's really why I decided to write a review since we felt different about the M Star Hotel North Columbus than what we had read on many of the reviews. The staff is very friendly, courteous, and they keep the place clean and looking great. Check in time is no earlier than 4pm and check out is 11am with a late check out fee of $10 and if you stay past 1pm you are charged another full day. The rates are really good though. We booked a standard smoking room with double beds on a Saturday night for one night at $50.00 + tax and also had to pay a deposit of $50. We ended up adding another night and also paid $50 + tax for Sunday night as well. Then at our 11am check out Monday we got our $50 cash deposit back. They did tell us that since we paid with cash we got it right back same day however, if you pay with credit or debit card then the $50 deposit goes back on the card in approximately 2 days. The rooms furniture & fixtures are a little out dated but everything works and nothing was broken. The room didn't have a fridge or microwave but the lobby has one & they have two vending machines for the guest to use. The parking is right in front of each room so it makes it easy to carry your stuff in since each rooms door leads right outside. Also they had free Wi-Fi and flat screen TV that we were able to plug our Amazon Firestick into and watched movies & IPtv without any buffering at all. Also matresses had protectors, clean sheets, and bedding that were all stain, hole, and bug free. So overall we had a great experience and recommend this place if your looking to save some money...
Read moreThis is the worst place anyone could choose to spend the night. For the love of God, I have no words to describe how disappointing my experience was. My husband and I traveled from our city to Columbus to spend New Year's Eve. We booked a good hotel because the plan was to return home on the 1st. However, we drank too much at some friends' houses and decided not to travel that day. We decided to look for a hotel near where we were staying to spend the night and travel the next day. When we arrived at the place, the reception was horrible. A rude and uneducated man. We checked in and went to the room. He gave us the card. When we entered the room, I almost fell backwards. The room was filthy. The bed was dirty and messy. Towels were thrown everywhere. The TV was on. It seemed like there was still someone in that room. Scared, we went back to the reception to explain the situation. The same rude man didn't even bother to apologize and threw another card on the counter. While I was waiting for my husband to return, I had another scary experience. Two men in a car. They stopped right next to me and were already coming towards me. Thank God, my husband showed up right away and we opened the second room and went inside. Imagine if I had been alone. I can't even think about what could have happened. Please, women, don't stop alone in this place. It's extremely dangerous. When we entered the room, it felt like we were in the 70s. I don't think there had ever been an update at this hotel. And the cleaning service, which by the way knocks on the door at 8 in the morning to wake us up, leaves a lot to be desired. Anyway, I'll leave some photos that speak for themselves. And to finish off, today is already the 6th and I still haven't received my $50 deposit that...
