Candlewood suites North is a new hotel to this area. Recently remodeled it is family oriented and is also suitable for business travelers. It has suites or studio rooms.. each room or suite has a full size fridge, a 2 burner flat top stove, a State of the art dishwasher and a large convection microwave..and a deep stainless steel sink. The suites are 2 separate rooms . The first being the kitchen/ dining/ area... With it's own TV .. And the second is the bedroom, with another TV! Adjacent to the bedroom is a generously sized bathroom. . Most rooms have tubs, this a few have shower stalls. There's a bar style dining table with chairs, one or two enormous flat screen Samsung TVs ( depending on whether it's a studio or a suite) , capable of screen mirroring or screen casting. You can also sign into any music or movie app and view them on the TV screen. The entire hotel has been remodeled.. only the outside walls remain the same... A fact which hits you as soon as u enter the lobby. The lobby includes the convenience store run by the hotel where fruit, snacks and miscellaneous toiletries are displayed. Also , there are 2 cold cases housing sodas, etc frozen meals and ice cream . In addition, there is a coffee/tea machine which is free for all guests. To the right of the lobby is a purified water dispenser and around the corner, a gym with state of the art machines. A door leading to the back of the hotel leads to the grill area, housed under a gazebo along with tables and chairs. The grills are fed by gas lines, so u never run out of propane at an inconvenient moment.. Like in the middle of making dinner for a hungry family! There is also a fire pit around which smokers often gather. In terms of amenities, last but surely not least, is the a state of the art laundry room open 24/7 for the guests. There are 6 washers and 6 dryers.. The former being front loaders.. laundry supplies are available in the convenience store. The best part is that both washers and dryers are FREE!! As experienced travelers will surely agree, what makes or breaks a hotel stay and determines whether one returns to that hotel... Is the STAFF of said hotel! Without exception, the staff at candlewood suites North are exceptional! Courteous and going out their way to help a guest, they make a guest feel instantly comfortable and reassured ... That no matter what might be the issue. .. the staff will leave no stone unturned to be of help. I give this hotel 2 thumbs up and 5 stars... I have to stop at five because that is the highest rating but I'd give it 10 if the rating...
Read moreI have stayed at this fairly new IHG property 3 times (a total of 14 nights) since they opened. The first time was fairly unremarkable although the location is in a very desolate area and there are a lot of riff-raff constantly walking through the parking lot; I never felt completely safe about my vehicle. I only had one set of towels for a 5 night stay (I stay in IHG hotels approximately 140 nights per year for work), and there wasn't a blackout curtain in my bedroom. The second time I stayed here, there were NO towels in the room and the elevators were out so it was up and down the stairs to get my room settled. The third time I stayed here, they put through over $1200 worth of holds on my credit card for a $435 4-day stay. I brought my concerns to the General Manager (EA). He was apologetic, and said there was a failed transaction (on his end although the charge was pending on my credit card and funds were frozen) for the entire amount. The charges were repeated several times in different amounts, each time freezing more credit on my card. In total I had over $1200 frozen on my account which left me short for dinners and other expenses as I use one card for traveling. He claims he couldn't reverse the charges (I currently still have two outstanding pending charges holding up credit for my second AND third stays). He acknowledged my IHG loyalty and offered to make a deposit of points for the inconvenience in the sum of "1/8th the amount of points I just used to book a trip to Europe" equivalent to 60,000 points. I have emailed him on two separate occasions to update him on the status of my credit card and that the credit card company can't remove the charge unless it posts, but the funds would still be frozen. He didn't respond to any of my emails and I have not received any points for the inconvenience. I do love the IHG brand and have been traveling and been a long time member (Diamond Elite and InterContinental Ambassador with Club access). Apparently these loyalties don't matter to some properties. I wouldn't stay at this hotel ever again. It's so dangerous in that area that they lock the lobby doors at 6 pm every night and there isn't ice on any floor but the first floor. Seriously reconsider staying here if you are contemplating. I must say that the young lady (I sadly do not recall her name) at the front desk who checked me in for two of my stays was...
Read moreI'll give these guys 5 stars for the efforts to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. After reading other reviews about safety, I realized that we were probably lucky during our two nights stay because nothing happened to our car. We drove by all the other hotels on that street, and you could get a feeling of what kind of neighborhood that is. So I was hesitant to go into Candlewood but it looked newer, so I decided to give it a try. From the start I was impressed by the front desk staff, who went above and beyond to accommodate our family. Despite not having a reservation, they found us two rooms, making our impromptu stop seamless. We even received a thoughtful gift card to a nearby restaurant, which was a lovely surprise given that breakfast isn't included (though complimentary coffee and snacks for purchase were available). When we encountered an issue with the A/C in one of our rooms, the front desk lady handled it with remarkable speed and professionalism, relocating us to a different room right away. It's truly commendable how quickly and efficiently the team resolved the situation, demonstrating that even with minor after-remodelling hiccups, their service shines. The only minor drawback for larger families is the absence of merging rooms. However, the hotel does offer one bed suites with sofa beds. I would recommend this hotel for its outstanding customer care. Maybe the hotel chain can invest in the fence and more secured parking lot, so that both extended stay and one night guests alike could enjoy with the piece of mind all the good stuff that this place...
