First, the room itself was ok, its spacious and looked how it was advertised; however, the supposedly Accessible bathtub was not very accessible. We had to ask for a shower curtain because there wasn't anything on it, and the tub's entrance wall was way too high for someone with mobility issues. Both my partner (able bodied) and I kept hitting our feet when climbing in shower. Also, the shower space was too small width wise, it felt even smaller than my normal sized shower at home. The first 3 nights of my 6 night stay were without major incidents. We did hear the adjacent room when the female was yelling at her kids and then we could hear the bed squeaking, often, from the room above us. It's a hotel so kind of expected not fully quiet but these walls are paper thin.
Now, the major issue I had was with another hotel guest (white male, 50's, graying hair, small build) and how the hotel staff and management handled the situation after I was accosted by said guest. Monday 3/06/23 7:45p I had arrived back to my hotel room for the night with my Autistic son. We hadn't really settled in for the night when at a little after 8p that other guest started banging on my room door yelling and claiming we were too loud and demanded we quiet down. Seriously, we're in a hotel not an apartment building. Supposedly he was in the room below us and had tried to call our room too-yes it rang and I would never answer the hotel phone because no one I know knew we were there. I also never opened the door, I saw him through the key hole. At that time, I was getting my son in his pj's and our TV was NOT on. With my son being Autistic, loud noises overwhelm him so we would never be loud let alone loud enough for another room to hear us. Instead of contacting the front desk about any issue, which is usually protocol, this guest decided to harass the first room above his that he heard any voices in. We were in the bathroom when he was literally pounding on the door. After he left, I immediately called the front desk and told them to handle the situation asap. The man at the front desk said they would take care of everything. My son was already upset by the loud noise and I started to have a panic attack. I called the front desk again to see what was happening. He said "We're giving the guest a few minutes to cool down". My heart's racing at this point thinking what the H is going on. I asked them how were they going to handle this guest and the desk person had the audacity to ask if I would change rooms. Umm I booked a mobility and hearing accessible room for a reason, so no it wasn't me who should have been asked to do that. After getting my son to sleep finally and I was calming down, I called the desk again about 30mins after the last call around 9p. The man at the desk told me that this situation never happened before and it was being passed on to the management people. Obviously no longer feeling safe, I asked if I would be refunded the rest of my stay payment and they said yes. The rest of the night was quiet and I checked out the next morning because I sure as heck didn't feel safe knowing the hotel let the other guest stay. I would have left sooner of my mobility issues weren't bad at night. The female at the front desk apologized somewhat, but management never talked to me directly and I haven't heard anything since I checked out. No real apology, no thoughts on how they should be have rectified the situation, just silence. I'll never stay at this brand of hotels...
Read moreWe stayed at Home2 Suites in Glen Mills this past weekend for my brother's wedding in the Wilmington/Chadds Ford area. Our family routinely stays at the Home2 Suites in Cranberry, PA when we visit relatives in the Pittsburgh area, so when we needed to book a hotel for the wedding, my first thought was to look for a Home2 Suites!
We really like this hotel chain because the rooms accommodate our large family (2 adults and 5 kids, including one toddler who sleeps in a pack n play). We know we can count on these hotels to be safe, affordable, and comfortable. The Glen Mills location lived up to these expectations for the most part. My kids love the breakfast buffet, which is a pretty typical hotel breakfast buffet, but they get excited about the waffles 😊 we also like that there's a pool (although we didn't use it this trip), a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, and plenty of storage space. One thing we really liked about the Glen Mills location was that the TV gave us the option to log into our Disney+ account - we are pretty conservative about what we let our kids watch and we appreciated that this allowed us to have full control about the TV options. At the Cranberry location, the TVs are not as updated so we just have the options that are available on cable. This was such a nice surprise! We requested more towels because only 4 were provided as standard in the room, and we received them promptly (perhaps worth noting - we asked for them at the front desk after eating breakfast and brought them up to our room ourselves).
A few things about this experience that we were not as fond of - the heating/AC was controlled by a wall unit under the window, whereas at the Cranberry location, there's a thermostat on the wall out of the reach of little fingers. The first night of our stay, one of the kids messed around with the thermostat and we woke up to find that the AC was set to 86°! Obviously, that's not the hotel's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you're traveling with little ones.
What we found to be more problematic was that when we were setting up the futon for 2 of the kids to sleep on, there was a huge chunk of hair in the sheets - gross! We have experienced that the bedding for futons at hotels often gets overlooked by house keeping, and unfortunately, it looks like whoever cleaned our room before we checked in skipped checking the futon. Additionally, the pillows that were available for all of us were quite lumpy and definitely are due to be replaced. We also had a problem with our key malfunctioning on day 2 of our stay, but the man at the front desk helped us out with that promptly.
The employees at the hotel were kind and helpful when we asked them for help. That said, at the Cranberry Home2 suites, the front desk would text us each day to see if we needed anything and just went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The service at this location is certainly adequate, but not exceptional like we've experienced in Cranberry.
Overall, we were fairly satisfied with our visit to the Glen Mills Home2 suites. There were a few things we didn't love, but for the price, I definitely felt like our needs were met, although housecleaning should be reminded to clean more thoroughly before guests check in. This isn't the best hotel we've stayed at, but we would stay again and we'll continue to seek out the Home2 suites franchise...
Read moreI reviewed in trip advisor but this hotel is so wonderful it bears repeating on google... We have stayed at Glen Mills Home2Suites several times and this hotel is 5 stars! We first selected this hotel because we noted that the management responded to posted reviews. As Diamond members we have stayed at a variety of Hilton properties. This one is better than any other and its guest-oriented staff are the reason! While modestly priced, this hotel is exceptionally and consistently clean from the modern contemporary public areas to the relaxing airy rooms. Conveniently located near a huge Wegman's grocery store great for organic/gluten free diets, a Texas Roadhouse that willingly accommodates gluten allergies, Chick-fil-a and Chipotle--each stay has been up to our fussy standards as a family with multiple chemical sensitivities, environmental and mold allergies requiring clean breathing air (as well as a family member requiring mobility assistance rails in bathroom and space to use walker). If you have stayed in a Home2Suites before you may also appreciate the full kitchen for allergy friendly food prep on the road, the larger than average rooms and doorways accommodating a family comfortably and sleeping up to 6, the appealing variety of breakfast offerings and noticeably comfortable beds and feather pillows. Each room is pleasantly designed with both blinds for privacy sunscreen and blackout shade for a good night’s rest. The task lighting is plentiful. Exceptional space for spreading out luggage on counter tops and desks as well as a rolling dining table if desired to play games or eat together make this hotel truly livable for even an extended stay. The hotel is dog friendly while not smelling like it! We enjoyed the twinkle lighted patio areas with grills and lovely fire pits! The clean fitness room and efficient working laundry made our trip easier. Overall we will always choose to stay at Glen Mills though because of the staff! After just a few stays Ryan Carter, Michael and Megan welcomed us like family! Their willingness to go above and beyond to make each guest stay comfortable will surely win awards! We were most impressed when a young team of soccer players happened to be a little more energetic late night with their noise level than normal as this is a quiet hotel overall. We phoned once and manager followed up immediately. Noise resumed and we asked again. Not another sound was heard and before morning light a thoughtful gift card and handwritten note of apology were under the door for us even though it was not at all in their control that the kids were a bit boisterous playing ball for a few minutes at midnight. Other times we’ve observed the staff visiting with a family who were long term guests due to a home renovation. Their patience, kindness and ready smiles are rare in a short-staffed world! The staff goes so far above and beyond the norm to make you happy and at ease! We highly recommend Glen Mills Hilton Home2Suites if you are traveling in the greater Philadelphia region and personally drive over an hour to appointments just to stay here. We are grateful to have such a rare gem to feel at home anytime we are in the area. It is...
