I wish I could give this review more than 5 stars. From the moment we walked up to the hostess stand, our experience was incredible! The staff was so welcoming, friendly and professional. Our server, Maria, was everything! She was so sweet and invested in making our night the best it could be! She recommended a perfect bottle of wine for us, after learning a little about our taste. It paired so well with our meal and was exactly what we wanted! She was the absolute epitome of what restaurant service should be! She was attentive, had great menu recommendations, she made us smile and laugh the entire evening and made what was an already wonderful night even better! We had a few other managers/owners check in with us as well during the night making sure everything was to our liking, and overall the staff were such genuine, hardworking people that we felt truly grateful to dine there. My boyfriend and I are from the Philadelphia area and decided to stay in the Glen Mills area for an anniversary weekend. We decided to eat at La Fava after reading some great reviews and it was the best decision we could have made! The food exceeded our expectations and I am 100% confident that this was by far the best meal we both have ever eaten...EVER in our 30/40 years. I ordered the Filet Caprese and my boyfriend had the Branzino. We both cleaned our plates and loved one another’s dishes just as much as our own. The filet was cooked to the perfect medium rare and was so tender and juicy it melted in my mouth! His Branzino was prepared and cooked so beautifully, and the seasoning was spot on for the perfect balance of flavor. The potatoes and vegetables were delicious as well, there was not one bite that disappointed. We were going to get dessert to-go, but when Maria told us about the Strawberry Romanoff we had to make room and decided it was worth staying for dessert... and Maria’s flambé SLAYED! It was the perfect sweet treat so balanced and satisfying I don’t think anything will every come close to comparing to that dish! And if I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, that would be it! Overall, the evening was so wonderful, we both were beyond impressed with everyone and everything we ate! To top it off, as we were leaving the restaurant each and every employee we walked by on our way to the car thanked us for dining at La Fava and wished us well. The level of professionalism was overwhelming! I work in customer service and my standards are high. But La Fava blew my standards out of the water. We will ABSOLUTELY be patrons for life! Perfection is an understatement! Thank you for such an...
Read moreFire The Chef! This restaurant will probably be out of business within 12 months. We wanted to go out for Christmas Eve Dinner, called 7 days prior to make reservation, arrive at 5:20pm and see that our reservation was never recorded, but was sat as not busy yet at that hour. Was greeted by a server after 5 minutes . Asked for water w/lemon and 2 glasses of wine and Bread. Brought water and had to ask 3 times for the Lemon. Had to ask again for bread which took about 15 minutes to arrive. Brought bread with like a green bean spread which was not good and had absolutely no taste so we had to ask for butter. We also ordered steamed clams as appetizer which took over 30 minutes to arrive , no flavor at all, no garlic, no wine, just a broth and panchetta , the worst , tasteless. Needless to say the restaurant was not busy at 5:30pm so knew this was not going to be the dinner we expected, it was the worst dining experience we have ever encountered. There was no Ambiance, no music. The entrees took over 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive and they were terrible and overpriced. There was a special menu for Christmas Eve which is understandable, but build a menu that the kitchen can execute. Ordered lobster ravioli for $ 29.95 and Veal Porcini for $ 29.95, both were small portions, not good and the taste was terrible, and the menu descriptive was not what came on the plate. We did not finish our entrees, never saw our server to follow up, I went to hostess stand and asked for my check from a nice young lady who said she was filling in, I expressed my displeasure. We never even saw our server again, never had desserts, just wanted to get out of there and never return. This restaurant truly struggled with operations and I say this a I have been in the restaurant business for years. This was a night that you should be planning and knock it out of the park, but this honestly was the most disappointing dining experience , was our first visit and our last. I would not recommend this...
Read moreThe food is good, but I’ve been here twice and the service is so slow! I think it may be the cooking staff? Although both times I’ve been there the beverages also took a long time as well. I’m not sure if they are just short-staffed overall or what is going on. I went once for a birthday brunch and we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant and I think it took 35+ mins to get our beverages (coffee and mimosas, not difficult) and an hour or longer for the food. We all were curious if the waitress was also the cook haha. Recently went for dinner with some girlfriends and had the same issues. We didn’t order a second round of drinks because the first round took so long and we also would have got dessert but none of us felt like sitting another hour. Again, it’s a shame because the food is good, although the sauce on the eggplant parm looked and tasted like a can of Campbells tomato soup??
Both waitresses I had at each visit were nice, but took a while to come back. I’m just confused about why it takes so long. Oh, and another staff member brought drinks out on a tray, but she said to our waitress (who had a pitcher of water in her hand) - “here you do this,” and shoves over the drink tray while our waitress only had one hand free b/c of the water pitcher and our drinks almost spilled everywhere. My friend watched it quickly and helped grab the tray so nothing fell. And when the food came out the one young staff guy said - “I don’t know what this is” - and I said - “I think that’s the...
