I tried to stay at this "4 Star" hotel the night of May 4 to 5. However, when I checked in the best I could find was a 1star Motel in its location. I read the warnings prior to my visit, but I did not believe them. Upon check in I found that most of them understated how bad this motel really was. Here is my story, hopefully it will help others who are considering staying here. First let me state that I travel across the US on business a lot. I have stayed in many Holiday Inns, as well as Hyatt Regency...facilities. So I have seen it all. This place in on another level. When my travel partner and I pulled into this place we noticed several vagrant folks walking about....this did not disturb me at first....but would later prove to be a larger issue than anticipated. Upon check-in the counter staff did not seem to care whether we stayed or not. They simply took our credit cards, swiped them and gave us our room keys....The adventure was about to begin. I noticed that there did not appear to be any luggage carts available upon check in...While this did not pose a problem for my luggage(due to one roller bag) this would prove to be a major issue when we went to retrieve our Convention supplies. I was here to attend a convention....(thus my wish to stay in the hotel where my convention would be) I was assigned a room on the third floor....Right next to the Airport....That was exciting...I got to watch the jets out of my window!...To get to my room was a country hike which made use of an elevator. The elevator was easily found, however was filthy. Upon exiting the elevator on the third floor there were stains on the carpet all the way to my room. The Hall way carpet matched the elevator...it was also filthy. Upon reaching my hotel, I thought the room would be clean....what a mistake that was. The room was as dirty as the rest of the place...The ceiling was stained with yellow stains, as well as the carpet. The mess did not seem to bother the spiders in the room who happily climbed on their webs. At least the ceiling and floor matched the rest of the place. Upon entering the bathroom...I was greeted with both mold and mildew in the tub. I half expected to see insects running across the floor...Thankfully I did not. The portion of my room to inspect was the furniture as well as the TV....The TV did function, however the furniture was filthy with stains as well as cigarette burns. Interesting that there would be cigarette burns in a non-smoking hotel. I just happen to bring my lunch with me to this room...and I was famished. So I ate my burger while standing....I was not going to place my food on the table, or relax on the chair that appeared so filthy. After lunch....I decided that I needed to inspect the bed.....that was the straw that broke the camels back....curly hair as well as orange stains on the pillow made it necessary to reserve a room at the nearby Hilton....interesting that the Hilton which was 3/4 of a mile away charged the same price.....I called my travel partner and asked him how he felt about moving out of this place....he was already at the car waiting for me to leave.....After completing my reservation at the Hilton, I went outside to my car....what should I witness but my partner being accosted by what seemed to be a vagrant. (Remember my earlier concern with the folks who were wondering the parking lot). Upon seeing me heading toward the car, the vagrant left the scene. My travel partner was very happy that I came when I did...he feared that he may be in danger....After all of this....we left the hotel and checked into the nearby Hilton....what a difference....All was as it should be. Up next the return the next day for the convention. This was a disaster, food was terrible as well as the assistance from the front desk...no help at all. And when Fed Ex arrived on Monday to get our display materials....they could not be found...What a surprise. My advice to anyone considering staying here....stay away...far away and spend your money...
Read moreMy stay was from Friday, April 18th, 2025 to Sunday, April 20th, 2025. As an individual who is very familiar with hotel standards in any establishment, I can confidently say that this was my worst hotel experience that I ever had for a service that I spent money on. Looks can be very deceiving! The Concord Plaza Hotel is a beautiful establishment if the standard was only to have a visually appealing courtyard. From the moment of arrival I was very disappointed with my stay. For starters, the wait to Check In was extremely prolonged even with only a handfull of guests. Once I was able to get into my room, I was unable to actually relax and enjoy it due to my Television not working (No Signal on every channel), thus I was forced to use my cellular device to entertain myself for the duration of my stay. The breakfast served in the mornings both days was HORRIBLE, and it ruined my Easter Sunday morning. On Saturday, I was served clumped watery cold eggs, along with breakfast sausage, old picked over fruit, and cold hard biscuits. YUMMY! The following day, on Easter Sunday morning, the guests were able to choose from cold burnt biscuits, or burnt pancakes, with more old picked over fruit. What a great way to start my Easter! Another guest nearby was heard saying "Wow, no Eggs on Easter? Did the bunny take them all?" Embarrassing. Aside from the breakfast, and lack of room entertainment, I also had no access to the pool area which seemed to be under construction. These factors all contributed to this being the worst hotel visit Ive ever had, and even with that there was more! Shortly after checking out of my hotel room #425 I noticed my wallet with my cards, I.D.'s, and personal information was missing. I contacted the hotel immediately within the hour to alert them of my missing wallet. I initially spoke with an employee of the company who placed me on hold as she sent someone to retrieve the wallet from the room. After 20 mins on hold, I figured she forgot I was on call so I placed the call again. This time, I was put on hold for an additional 35 mins. I then attempted to contact the hotel for a third time and was unsuccessful for the next hour and fifteen minutes. After finally speaking with someone, I was told there was no wallet found which led me to believe my wallet was stolen. At the hotel I only brought one duffle bag and a backpack, each of these I searched over 8 times as I waited for someone to pick up the phone line. My wallet from the time of arrival to departure was sat down on top of the mini refrigerator in the room and was never needed, or moved again while I was there. The wallet was also visible to me an hour before I checked out of the room before I showered and departed. My wallet had no money at all , only cards and personal information including my social security card. This makes me believe I am a victim of identity theft. I was told on my last call Sunday that I would be able to speak to a manager about everything, then after waiting on hold for more extended time the manager was said to have not been there, and to call back Monday for Monica (HM) or Dana (GM) by an employee named Taylor. I was also told that I could not return back to check the room myself nor were there cameras available for that area of the hotel. Monday, I spoke with Monica and I was told no wallet has been recovered. I am a resident of CA so not only did this ordeal ruin my Easter Sunday, but it ruined my entire 5 hour trip back home and put me in jeopardy of having to make my way home with no identification or license. It has now been a week since my visit and I have not recovered the wallet. I have already been in contact with law enforcement about this matter, and they plan to move forward accordingly. In conclusion, I believe there needs to be copious amounts of improvement done throughout this company starting with having better integrity and standards to ensure this never happens to anyone again in...
Read moreDo not stay in this hotel unless you have no other choice. I was at this hotel 6 years ago and it was decent, but absolutely NOTHING has been done to update the hotel since then. During my stay I witnessed serious health and safety issues, as well as a general disregard for upkeep of the facility.
Health issue: When I arrived on Tuesday afternoon, there was a room service tray in the hallway with leftover breakfast food. I will give the hotel the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was from breakfast on Tuesday, meaning that the leftover scrambled eggs and bacon had been there a minimum of 8 hours. I assumed that someone would probably come and pick up the tray Tuesday night. When I left my room Wednesday morning, the tray was still there. Maybe they pick up trays once a day, they will certainly get it Wednesday when the housekeeping staff makes their rounds? Nope. The tray with eggs and meat was still sitting in the hallway Wednesday evening when I returned to my room. Thursday morning and Thursday evening, the tray was still there. It was finally gone when I departed on Friday. A tray with eggs and meat was sitting, at room temperature, outside my room for 3 days!
Additional health issue: When I settled into my room and turned on the TV, I got a "no signal" error. Before bothering the front desk for assistance, I attempted to verify that the cable was actually connected. When I looked behind the dresser/TV stand to verify that the cable was connected to the wall, I observed trash, used coffee K-cups, and what appeared to be a wrapped pastry behind the dresser. No idea how long it had been there, I really didn't want to know.
Safety issue: When I looked at the ceiling in my room, 2 of the 4 fire sprinklers were wrapped with aluminum foil. I assume that this was done by a previous guest who was smoking something illegal in the bathroom and didn't understand how fire sprinklers work. They probably thought that the sprinkler would detect the smoke and didn't realize that sprinklers work strictly on heat. I seriously doubt that the hotel staff put the foil on the sprinkler heads, but it does show that housekeeping is not performing a basic safety check on the rooms. To the hotel's credit, when I showed pictures of the foil-wrapped sprinkler heads to the front desk staff they addressed the problem immediately.
Hallways and rooms are dingy and dirty. Daily vacuuming is apparently done, but at some point the carpet needs to be replaced. The mattress and sheets appeared to be fairly new and actually pretty comfortable, but the overall condition of the facility is dirty and dated.
The breakfast buffet is a very expensive joke. It is not free, the buffet is $20 and does not include beverages. The first day I ordered an orange juice, and it was definitely NOT orange juice. It was probably Sunny-D, essentially sugar water with orange coloring added. Selection of other breakfast items is extremely limited and very low quality. "Chicken Sausage?" I didn't know that there was such a thing, but I'm sure it's cheaper than pork sausage and that is why it was the only sausage offered. Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express both have a much higher quality breakfast and it's free. After realizing what a ripoff the breakfast was, I walked across the street to Taco Bell for a much better breakfast at 1/3 the price.
This hotel finds every possible way to extract money from its guests. Despite being in a suburban area, parking is not free. This is the only hotel that I know of that is not in a high-density downtown area that charges for parking. I was on a business trip with 5 other colleagues, and we asked if we could use an unoccupied meeting room to discuss a few things. We just wanted a place to talk, but we were told that if we wanted to use a meeting room we needed to pay for it. We ended up huddled around a tiny table...
