Let me first start with a positive note, most of the staff we interacted with were kind. It was close to other things.
1 star for this place is generous. We chose this resort as a get away for my husbands birthday with our 2 children. This was our first time here and the misery started 2 days before our stay. We tried calling the resort an ungodly amount of times to try and speak with someone about our trip and was unsuccessful. We left a message and still did not speak to anyone on the phone. We show up and to our surprise, it wasn't as busy as we expected. Score! We were told to leave our vehicle out front by the front desk attendant for the minimal time it would take us to unload our gear and family. Note that we checked in after dark. We returned to our vehicle 10-15 minutes later to a nasty note that we were parked in the one handicap spot in the round about and threats of being towed and how we should be ashamed of ourselves. We did not see any signage and would never intentionally park in a handicap, we are not that type of family. The next morning, we walked outside to see and the only handicap spot was infact painted on the ground and due to recent snow, was only half visible.
Room 125 has a shower issue, the tub has water trapped under it creating a waterbed like experice while your showering. It was a balancing act for my 2 year old. Exciting. It looks like they may have tried drilling a hole in the tub to relieve it at some point. The walls were very thin and I thought for sure our upstairs neighbors were going to land in our lap. The resort is outdated and beat up.
We ordered dinner our first night and took it to our room. The menu is simple, which is fine. My husband ordered the fish and chips and when he dug in, he found raw batter and under cooked fish. Ok, it happens. Let's move on. We went to the water park and the kids had fun. It is exciting if you've never been. The next morning we went upstairs to have breakfast. French toast, pancakes, bacon, hash browns, can't go wrong. Well, between dodging water droplets and falling paint chips or sheet rock (whatever it was) from a leaky roof, we encountered more under cooked food. My French toast was pudding and that's not an exaggeration. The waitress was kind and replaced my meal and thankfully comped it. Plan on dropping $100 on breakfast with a family of 4 - 2 orders of French toast, 2 orders of kids chocolate chip pancakes. 1 eggs Benedict, a coffee and an orange juice.
The arcade has a quite a few games but eats your tokens. It happened to us multiple times.
Finally, check out day. We decided to let the kids play one last time in the arcade after we checked out. That's when I received an email that states we were charged 2 - $25 resort fees. I thought this would be included in our initial charge for our 2 night stay. No. This is additional. I guess there were "events" that we are charged for. We didn't attend any events and were not notified of any events happening. I saw on the website that they have a smores fire pit. That was covered in snow, no smores. The fitness center was snowed in, closed. Horse rides? Where? We were not told any of this. We heard music down the hall, that was it. That. Was. It.
Refund the "event" fee? Forget it, no way.
Oh! Don't let me forget that they charge you to park there. That's right. $25 per day to park at the resort you just paid $200+ a night to stay.
Don't go looking for fun in the wrong place. I advise you to look elsewhere. Jay Peak is...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I brought our 2 year old and 13 year old to the red jacket resort in North Conway New Hampshire, it's a wonderful time! we got there at noon time and we weren't supposed to be able to check in until 3 but we are going to use the water park early so they were wonderful and let us check in early and even upgraded us to a mountain view room where the view was awesome !! The room was nuce and clean, 2 super comphy queen beds, tv, coffee maker, mini fridge which is great, because we can bring the baby milk and snacks and our own drinks. We had a cute deck we could go out on and ha d a perfect view of the mountains! The staff was super friendly and were great with the kids! My son is very curious and loves to ask questions, even when he was roaming about ar 11pm the were super nice and patient with him. I cant say how grategul i was when the woman at the desk checked us in at 12 instaed of making us wait until 3 when we had a 3 hour trip there, and even gave us the mountain view room instaed of the cheaoest room we booked! because of the age difference with my 2 year old and my 13 year old that's our favorite place to go because it has so much for each child to do. Then after the wonderful day at the waterpark we got to relax next to the bonfire from 8 to 9 that night and roast marshmallows and have hot chocolate perfectly placed near the play area for the lil one to swing, it was a nice complete day! Definitely slept good! we make it a tradition to go at least once a year on one of our vacation weeks, followed by going to the outlets and getting new Nikes lol. We had such a great time can't wait to go back I always look on Groupon for deals. There's just so much to do.Even when we wake up in the morning they have a great breakfast buffet where you can get made to order omelets from the omletbar, coffee and they even have a couple bars on site for the adults which is nice! This is this a good experience for the whole family can't wait to go back!!! This is our second year going, we've gone since our daughter started walking, she loves the water and the arcade! Definitely no complaints here so we had to wait till after the new year to go at the end of the kids school vacation because the only complaint I would have; is that during the school vacation it was like 385 for the night not including water park tickets, instead of the $175 with the waterpark included that we just paid to stay on Sunday and Monday after christmas vacation.Which for a family of 4 for$ 175 for a mini vacation is great! I wish there were a loyalty program or club so your stays could be cheaper year round! Love...
Read moreI've had almost 2 weeks to come down from my wedding high and I must say that August 24th, 2019 was the best day of our lives and we couldn't have done it without Molly (Sales & Catering Manager) and the whole staff at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort. From the very first interaction and hand shake to the last tearful hug good bye, Molly and the staff made us feel like they were the only couple to ever get married at the Red Jacket as everything was heartfelt and perfect. Anytime I had a question or request, it was always "Sure! We can do that!" or "Not a problem, let's get it done!". We didn't have to worry about linens, china, chairs, decorating, bathrooms, a space to get ready in, or even keeping to a schedule! Molly was with us every step of the way, ensure that everything was perfect. We chose to book with the Red Jacket because, unlike so many other venues ,this is a one stop wedding venue and everything was included in our price. There were no "hidden costs" or fees that we were hit with after the fact. The food was incredible, people are still commenting about it and there was plenty to go around. They even catered to our guests with food sensitives and gave them their own separate menu. Our additional vendors (2 photographers & a DJ) ate from our menu at a reduced price and the children had their own menu at a reduced price as well. My stress level was next to nothing for the whole 9 months prior to the wedding because I knew that everything was in good hands. The views are spectacular and we chose to have our wedding ceremony in their arbor area which is landscaped with flowers and in a grassy with plenty of shade. They set up the whole ceremony site for us and made sure everyone could get there easily, providing a golf cart ride for those needing assistance getting to the arbor. They set up the whole reception area as well! I only had to show what I wanted to center pieces to look like and it was done. They even provided accommodations for us to stay on the wedding night, putting snacks in our fridge and making sure our cards & gifts were locked up in our room before the reception was over. If you are looking for an easy, stress free and fun venue this is it! We did top off the night by going down the water slide as our grand exit and it was amazing! We thought it since this would be a "destination venue" for us (we live an hour and a half south), it would be quite the feat to pull this off, but it was easy and well worth the drive. Thank you to Molly and the whole Red Jacket staff... you made our...
