I had an extremely disappointing experience at Le Méridien Dania Beach due to the harassing and completely unfounded behavior of their security staff, specifically an agent named Luis. While sitting in the lobby, Luis repeatedly approached me, insisting that I leave, falsely claiming that I had been kicked out of the hotel several times before, which is absolutely not true. He even went as far as accusing me of causing a disturbance and making a mess at the bar during a previous incident, a completely fabricated claim. I have never been involved in any such incident and I had never seen this security agent in my life.
I calmly explained that I was simply waiting for my mother, who was arriving from Montreal and was set to land at any moment. To be as cooperative as possible, I even wrote down her full name so he could verify the information if he wished. It was only after the situation escalated that I learned that, due to a miscommunication with my mother, she was actually meant to stay at the Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport, not Le Méridien at Fort Lauderdale Airport as I had initially thought. My mother had provided me with an approximate description which led me to mistakenly believe she was arriving at Le Méridien. This was a simple mistake and in no way warranted such an overreaction.
What makes this situation even more unacceptable is that I have visited Le Méridien multiple times before, whether for lunch, to work on my laptop while enjoying a drink at the bar, or for dinner at Toro, all without issue. My presence in the lobby was never a disturbance to anyone. The ladies at the reception were professional and friendly and they seemed as confused as I was by Luis’ overreaction and immature attitude.
Despite informing him that I am a diplomatic passport holder, and that under the Vienna Convention, a diplomatic passport holder cannot be arrested or detained unless there is a very serious crime involved, he still chose to escalate the situation by calling the sheriff’s patrol, an unnecessary and excessive response. This could have quickly turned into a diplomatic incident, giving the hotel bad PR.
In addition to all of this, Luis took a photo of me without my consent and then threatened that the next time I visit the hotel, I would be trespassing and arrested, which is impossible due to my diplomatic immunity. This is an amateur behavior and reflects his inability to handle a simple situation professionally. Instead of having a constructive conversation and explaining what the issue was, Luis resorted to useless and childish intimidation tactics.
I have a proposal for Luis: The burden of proof lies with him. He has accused me of being expelled from the hotel several times, and I cannot prove a negative—that I haven’t done something, as that’s the very reason for the presumption of innocence. If he can provide evidence—such as surveillance footage or an incident report—showing that I have ever been expelled from the hotel, I will accept that. However, if he is unable to provide any such proof, I suggest he resign from his position and seek work at a nearby circus, where his skills as a clown will surely be appreciated at their true value.
I also want to make it clear that I have evidence to support everything I have stated and am ready to provide it upon request if there are any doubts regarding the credibility of my account.
This experience was not only frustrating but also deeply concerning. If security at Le Méridien Dania Beach allows someone like Luis to arbitrarily target and remove anyone based on fabricated claims, it raises serious questions about their professionalism and training. I strongly caution others against staying here, as their approach to security seems to be based on harassment and false accusations rather than facts. Management urgently needs to retrain their staff and implement proper protocols to prevent incidents like this from happening to others. I expect an apology for this incident and I remain available if further information or evidence is required to clarify...
Read moreThis property was overall disappointing. As a former South Florida resident, one who previously worked at FLL airport, Le Meridien was always an iconic hotel to me. I lived in SoFlo for over a year and dreamt about staying at the hotel, which is so prominent around the FLL Airport, especially if you're heading south. The hotel was closed during the pandemic, and I remember always seeing the parking lot empty and blocked off with cones. Two years later, I got the chance to book and was utterly unimpressed. I stayed at this hotel December 9th and 10th, 2022, before taking a cruise out of Miami. Although I knew I'd be spending a lot of time catching up with old friends, I knew I wanted somewhere nice with a nice pool. The hotel is modern, as expected, and I can't complain too much about that. Most hotels nowadays are modern like this one... You walk into the hotel, a large lobby and open space with no signs for the front desk and no signs for the elevators. The room is modern too - barn doors for the bathroom, no fan in the bathroom, and a simple bedroom with not much to it.
On the night of December 9th, my friends and I went to the pool, which was pretty decent. I will say that there was only one towel left and not a person in sight. Additionally, all doors to get back inside of the property were locked except the door closest to the lobby. Meaning I couldn't re-enter the hotel closer to the elevators nor the conference room hallway (where the elevators are too). Just a small thing that made no sense... I don't want to walk through the lobby after being in a pool, I want to get on the elevator to go to my room.
That night I also requested more pillows and a blanket in the Marriott Bonvoy app. I always leave my do not disturb sign on the door, pretty much out of habit. It indicates in the morning to the housekeepers that I don't want them to enter the room and clean. The pillows and blanket never arrived. The following morning on December 10th, we asked the woman at the front desk for more coffee to be brought to the room. There was no coffee brought to the room that day. We called the front desk that evening and explained our frustrations. The woman at the front desk came up and brought us a pitcher of hot coffee and cups. She then told us that if the DND sign was on the door, then no one would have even knocked. That's nice to know, and somewhat understandable. But if I wanted pillows, a blanket, and coffee... Would I not ask for it? Why couldn't have someone called and told us we'd need to come get it since they attempted to deliver and the DND sign was up? And why would an employee come all the way to a room that REQUESTED items and just leave without delivering any of them????
The thing about this hotel that really took the cake was the cleanliness. There was hair on the bed, the bathroom floor had hair on it, the carpet between the beds wasn't vacuumed, and the floor near the windows had cheerios and other dirt on them. This stay reminded me of why I've been choosing Hilton Honors over Marriott Bonvoy, and I'll...
Read moreI arrived on Thursday April 24, 2025 @9:56pm(2156) and my party hadn't arrived yet, from a previous engagement. I parked in the self parking lot, wherein the first 30 minutes is free and the the $5.00 per hour rate starts or $25.00 per day. I went inside and spoke with the Front Desk Staff for clarification on parking and was confirmed what I read was correct. I Proceeded to converse with Jose Rivera, who's a Bellhop/Valet Attendant that was standing out front. Jose informed me that I could park in the back parking lot at my own risk. The parking lot is utilized by another business during the day time. So I decided to remain in the self parking until my 30 minutes was up. I exited the self parking lot and pulled in front of the building, the area is designed to loading and unloading. I remained in the car. About five minutes later another vehicle drove up, and the driver began to converse with The Bellhop/Valet Attendant (later identified as Ally or Ali). The driver proceeded to park in front of me, got out and went inside of the hotel. Ally/Ali came over to my car and asked could he help me. I replied no. Ally/Ali VERY RUDELY replied "YOU HAVE TWO MINUTES." I proceed back into the Hotel and Spoke with the two male Front Desk Staff (I was so upset didn't get their name). They gave me the name of upper Management and the Supervisor of Valet of which neither was on site. I walked back out front and Ally/Ali began to Verbally insult me, so I proceeded to video his actions. I also took a picture of the unattended SUV still parked in the loading/unloading Zone for over 15 minutes. The driver was sitting at the Bar in the Hotel Lobby, have drinks with a female guest. The Front Desk Staff reviewed my video and accomodated me on parking for the night. My Friend still hadn't arrived yet. My Friend arrived at 10:40pm to finally check in and the Guy that was parked in front of the building was still sitting at the bar 😡. My Friend and I had to get food so we asked what time, the Restaurant close and the Desk Staff stated 11:00pm. I ran over and asked the Female Waitress for a Menu and informed her that I would be placing and order. At 10:49pm I returned to the restaurant and stood by the wait to be seated sign. The Female Waitress that gave me the menu, was standing at the counter near the bar, going through her receipts, she never acknowledged that I was back. A male Waiter came out at 10:53pm and asked could he help me. I proceeded to tell him what I wanted, then the female waitress came over to assist and I told her, "Your Service isn't NEEDED, SINCE YOU IGNORED ME." The two Burgers we purchased came to $52.41 no tip. In my Conclusion, The Staff Needs an In-service on Customer Service and Proper...
