I usually try to stay in the departure city at least one night before a cruise. This was that stay on September 30, 2022. Unfortunately, it was almost midnight when I arrived. Check in was pretty quick and easy. This Marriott in the Dania Point area was selected because of the free airport shuttle service and shuttle service to the cruise port for a $15 fee.
The hotel was actually very nice but not near the water. The new Spirit Airlines headquarters is being built across the street. The hotel is near a shopping area with a plethora of stores and restaurants, all very nice. There is a bowling alley and other entertainment venues in this shopping area too. The area around the hotel was all very nice and seemed quite safe.
My room on the sixth floor had great views of that part of the city. It was all very modern and clean. The bathroom was nice, clean and decent size. The king size bed was property placed in the room to take advantage of the very nice views to be seen at night. There was a flat panel television on the wall and nice desk area. I like that more of the hotels have at least a small fridge in the room.
The hotel had a pool that is on one section of one the lower rooftop. There is a nice restaurant and bar just off the lobby. The lounge for those with access because of there room or because of their Bonvoy Elite level is just off the lobby too. It is very nice and accessible 24/7. Breakfast for those with access is there in the morning, serving both hot and cold foods. There is television. There is a nice sitting area too. During the non-breakfast hours, there are a few drinks and snacks available.
Front desk staff was nice but not very quick or efficient. I saw lines several times during my fourteen-hour stay. The attendants in the lounge during breakfast were helpful and friendly. The shopping area was a plus, giving one more eating and entertainment options during the day and evenings. The room rate of about $166, including taxes and fees, was more than reasonable.
I have stayed at about 14 different Marriott or Marriott Vacation Clubs this year and I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. It may be my first option next time I am in Fort Lauderdale pre-cruise. I would probably try to stay at least two or three nights pre-cruise or post-cruise, if there is no availability at Beach Place Towers on the Fort...
Read moreI waited 50 minutes for the airport shuttle and had to call the hotel 3 times before the shuttle finally arrived to pick me up. The shuttle was a complete disaster. I called as soon as I exited baggage claim and the operator said the shuttle would be there soon. I called again after 20 minutes had passed. This time the operator said the shuttle was on the upper level dropping off passengers and would arrive at the lower level to pick me up in a few minutes. My third call came after I'd been waiting 40 minutes. This time the operator said that the driver had gone to get gas and would be there to pick me up in a few minutes. The shuttle finally arrived after I'd been waiting for 50 minutes.||Check in was short and curt with no acknowledgement of my Titanium Elite status. However, when I arrived at my room, I appreciated being on a higher floor with a view of the pool. I didn't have a chance to enjoy the pool, but it looked very nice with lots of empty loungers and good sun exposure. The room itself was fine. You can tell it's a newer property. I liked the spaciousness of the room. However, I did notice that the shower pressure would come and go. Not a pleasant experience when you're in the midst of showering.||As others have mentioned the AC is very loud with a disturbing rattling sound. Loud ACs don't usually bother me, but this was not a white noise sound of a blowing fan. This was an incessant rattling. I was in room 1002, but I've read in other reviews that this is common across rooms. The AC also didn't cool the room down well. This is the main reason I wouldn't return to this property. Florida is too warm for an ineffective AC. I didn't sleep well, as I kept waking up due to being hot. I stayed here in October. I can only imagine how challenging this would be in warmer months.||Both evenings I was there, the M Club Lounge had two hot appetizers - including one that's vegetarian - each evening. There were also a few different desserts (cookies and cakes), two charcuterie boards (olives, cured meats, cheeses, crackers, jams), and a berry medley (strawberries and blueberries). The quality was fine overall. I had lunch at the restaurant one day and really enjoyed the Dalia burger with potato wedges. The service from the female bartender was prompt...
Read moreWe are Marriott Silver Elite members and booked this hotel using points for a pre cruise stay. Upon arrival we called the hotel to send the free hotel shuttle van. Only waited about 10 min and we were the only family for the ride. Upon arriving at the hotel we were impressed by what we saw, a new building, modern looking, nice scent! Check in was quick on the second floor, and service friendly. We were assigned a room on the 5th floor. Normally I would be disappointed with a low floor but for one night I wasn’t going to say anything. It turned out convenient as it’s a three floor elevator ride and same floor as the pool deck and exercise room. I loved how modern the room was, the beds are super comfortable, we had a view of the Spirit head office right in front of us. Two free bottles of water in the room (more in the fridge of the exercise room), a coffee maker that my husband was afraid to use because he didn’t think it had been cleaned. Bathroom looked very clean. One negative in there are the shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers were attached to the wall at least 5.5 ft high if not higher so if you’re short you might get a squirt of liquid in your face! My daughter had to stand on her tip toes I’m sure to reach it. Not good if floor is slippery. ||One hugely negative thing about our room is the Air Conditioning unit. It made for a horrible sleep for the family. I have never heard such a loud unit in a hotel room before, and that includes very old historic hotels. For a new hotel with new equipment you would hope for efficient and QUIET AC units. But this one will keep you awake all night long. Not just the fan noise of cool air blowing but a loud squealing sound. So we had to either deal with this ear piercing sound or suffer in heat when it thankfully turned off.||One more positive is the location. Easily walked over to the outdoor mall area with lots of eateries and shopping.||Had I known how loud the AC was going to be (didn’t notice until we were all settled in for the night) I definitely would have asked to move. No guests should ever be subjected to the noise of this unit when you’re expecting a quiet comfortable night’s sleep at...
