Ok, so the reason I gave the hotel only 1 star is because we found BED BUGS.
The staff were friendly enough and accommodating, to a degree.
We arrived Sat 5/25/2019 and left Thur 5/30/2019 So, where to begin... On our first night we saw a small roach and a huge cockroach in our room. I had a bite on my chest when I woke up the next morning but chalked it up to a mosquito. No big deal, it's the beach and given the environment and area, with people going in and out all day, the bugs are a given. We didn't bother to notify the staff about it. It's kind of a given.
We started in room 128 and the overhead light did not work properly, which later I learned from the hotel staff that it was an electrical issue. It was a known issue and they still put us in there without a lamp. It would come on every now and then and since we spent most of our time at the pool/beach, it wasn't a huge deal. But if we were inside, we were in the dark a majority of the time, until the light decided to come in. After I mentioned this on our 2nd day, they provided us with a lamp and we were all set. There are no chairs to sit in outside of the room and given that we were right by the lobby entrance and we are smokers, we are aware that in a high traffic area, people do not want to walk by smokers. And we figured that the staff probably didn't appreciate it either. So we looked into upgrading our room to an oceanview with a balcony so that we didn't have to be a bother to customers or the housekeeping and other staff.
We were originally supposed to stay 6 nights for a total of $799. So $133 per night once you include all of the fees.
When I went to Orbitz to look up oceanview prices, they were only $86 plus a $10 fee of some sort per night. So I figured they wouldn't mind us moving rooms since they were cheaper and they obliged and said they wouldn't charge me anything for it (ha! I let her have that, wasn't worth an argument)
The oceanview definitely made our vacation feel like a vacation and we were happy campers at this point but that all ended when my stepdaughter found bed bugs in her bed, AFTER being bit on her arm. And these were healthy full grown bedbugs, which means there's probably hundreds more and the hotel is probably infested. We have a family of FIVE, which means lots of clothes and luggage and stuff we have to sort through, wash, spray, spend more money on to make sure that we haven't brought them home. Super scary and stressful! We ended up leaving a day early and were rushed by housekeeping to get out. (Mind you we had a lot of clothes and bags to sort through to be sure there were no bugs)
We asked them to comp something, and really they did nothing. Our bill ended up being around $650, which means they charged us $130 per night, wow $3 per night savings... pretty laughable.
So, if you don't want bed bugs do not come here because they DO NOT CARE. They kind of treated us like WE were the nuisance. I won't be back. Pay extra to go somewhere nice that won't send you home...
Read moreThe La Quinta Inn & Suites Oceanfront Daytona Beach was disappointing and is definitely a 2-star hotel at best. We enjoy traveling and have stayed at several other La Quinta Inns & Suites. The nicest was in Springdale Utah (5 stars).
We ended up staying here because we travel with our cat. There are limited oceanfront and pet-friendly accommodations on Daytona Beach. This is the ONLY reason I would recommend this hotel! But, I would not recommend it if you are traveling with a dog. I'm not sure how they can call the potty area pet-friendly.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon and stayed for 6 nights. The price of this hotel was definitely not worth the stay. The following information is an account of our experience.
Our first morning, the elevator broke down and we were stuck inside! The elevator continued to break down and require repairs throughout the week. We witnessed many families trying to carry all of their belongings up and down the stairs.
No room service, no problem. We were instructed to call the front desk if we needed anything. I called for clean hand towels and washcloths, but we never received them. I called a second time and was told that housekeeping was gone for the day. I was told to come to the front desk if we needed some.
We went to the front desk where I was told by the clerk there were not enough linens during the day because they had to do the laundry first, and the laundry takes time. He also said he told us this might happen when we checked in. The clerk was rude and never apologized for the inconvenience.
There were also overall general issues as well. The ice machines (on all three floors) not working for over 24 hours, the parking was horrible, the trash was piled outside the rooms all day and into the night, the deadbolt was broken, the lobby restroom was out of order, the printer was not hooked up to the guest computer in the lobby, they also cleaned and dumped chemicals into the pool and hot tub in the middle of the day when families and children were swimming.
We are seasoned travelers, and this was by far the worst La Quinta we've ever stayed at. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel with so many problems going on. The price was definitely not worth it and the staff could care less about your stay. We were never even asked about our stay when we checked out, but I received an email wanting me to tell them about our stay. I won't' bother to waste my time with...
Read moreRead this before booking. This review is long but tells you the service you should expect. This is hands down one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. I stayed there a few months ago and I cannot stress enough no one should book there. To begin with, they claim to have it recently renovated, in reality it was just “new paint” on the walls, you can tell everything has wear and tear. The A/C sounded like a diesel truck engine CONSTANTLY. The roof had dust and webs. The TV turned on but it had no signal and everything was plugged in properly. Good luck taking a shower to your desired temperature, it would go back and forth on temperatures. The sheets and pillow covers were FULL of hairs. I personally called for new sheets and I was responded with the following: “I am so sorry to hear that, unfortunately I am the only employee at this time, if you wish you can come get different sheets and covers.” When I went to address the assistant manager (she was the nicest person there and should be the General Manager), she apologized and offered a 40% discount, I was still dissatisfied and wanted to speak to the general manager. I had to play cat and mouse with the general manager (Ramesh) to speak with him. I cannot stress how unprofessional and disrespectful this “General Manager” is. He said nothing else could be done, and that he wouldn’t have offered the 40% off himself, that it was basically a gift. I asked him why the assistant manager was giving me more solutions than him and he quickly got angry, and said that’s what he has employees for, so issues don’t reach him. When I said it was ridiculous the Assistant manager offered more than the General Manager he hanged up on me. I then escalated the issue to corporate office, talked to 3 different people including a supervisor who couldn’t care less about the issue and would not involve someone above herself. She said they would stay in contact with me, lord behold, I am yet to hear back. Don’t waste your time, DO NOT STAY HERE! Want more proof? Read all the bad reviews and see how the general manager responds to then all with the same generic response, and when he actually writes, he just brushes off any and all issues. Clearly the company does not care if they persist to have such...
