Spark by Hilton Decatur — Hotel in Decatur

The hotel was under renovation so it appeared only a few of the rooms were available. There were construction materials everywhere. The room we stayed in had new carpet, the AC was cold and noisy. At night we could not seem to regulate it. The room had 2 queen beds and one of the beds looked as though it had been spread up from the last guest, needless to say we didn't sleep in it. The 2nd bed was properly made with sheets tight and tucked. There was no trash can in the room, I had to use a walmart bag for trash. There was one small can in the bathroom. The bathroom had plenty of towels but a stack of them had a stray hair where the other guest had blow dried their hair and it had just flown all over the room. A good cleaner would have caught that. I dont think the cleaning staff are as diligent as they could be. The shower had random what appeared to be eyelashes on the side of the tub. We got there later so Im not sure what was going on. The front desk staff were awesome they were friendly and on point. Each shift the employees were great I didnt want to complain to them it was not their fault. Decatur/Huntsville is a great place to visit and the hotel was in a good location however, the cleaning staff should work on more thorough...

I don’t usually write reviews, but I’ve been meaning to leave this one for a while. A little while back, I was in town because of a family emergency and ended up checking in late at night. It was a very heavy time for me, and I was just trying to get through the day.||The young lady at the front desk treated me with such kindness and patience. She didn’t just do her job well, she had a calm, caring presence that really helped me in that moment, despite me being a snappy emotional wreck. At the time, I didn’t think to say much beyond “thank you,” but as the weeks have passed, I’ve realized how much that simple act of kindness stayed with me.||Life got busy and heavy, and that’s why I’m only writing this now. We used to stay at Hampton more but their prices were not as competitive it seemed so we tried other brands. However, this trip we stayed in 2 different Hampton Inns including this one in Decatur. It felt like the good Hampton Inn was back! We had a pleasant and comfortable stay with a nice breakfast to start our morning. I felt the rate was more in line with other hotels of this level. Parking was more limited here than most. There was an item out of working order in our room. When I mentioned it at checkout, they actually wrote it down to check it out.
