I placed a to-go order over the phone for 4 separate orders for myself and co-workers and out of that, only 1 order was correct when I got back to the office, and that was the single order of a side of fries.
The first two orders I specifically asked if it's possible to add pickled jalapenos, and I was told yes. When I get there, the order was repeated to me as standard procedure and I heard "grilled jalapenos". I mention that they were supposed to be pickled and she said, "We only have fresh and grilled." Okay, well if you don't have pickled jalapenos that's perfectly fine, I'll happily go without, but don't tell me it's possible to do that when placing my order.
The second order included a pork rind appetizer, which is supposed to come with a Sriracha Ranch dipping sauce. It did not. Perhaps my fault for not checking, but see below for pickup frustrations. This appetizer size order seems really small, too, so either the "appetizer" size is misleading (it's just a small styrofoam container) and they forgot to add the dipping sauce, or I was simply given the side order instead which does not come with a dipping sauce.
The third order was specifically ordered with a dipping sauce for the side of onion rings. Like with the pork rinds, no dipping sauce was included.
As for the pick-up frustrations, when I made it to the register after patiently waiting in line I was told, "I apologize for forgetting to mention this on the phone, but next time you can just go to the bar to check in for your to-go order." Okay, it's the lunch rush, I get if you're slammed with calls and walk-ins, so perhaps some simple signage directing me to the bar instead would save a lot of headache? Being the lunch rush, I waited in line for at least 20 minutes while my to-go order just sat there on the counter getting cold and soggy. After waiting in line, I was just in a hurry to get back to the office to deliver everyone food as fresh as possible.
I rarely dine out for lunch, but the next time I do I think I'll pass if the rest of the crowd is picking up The Garage. The food itself is good and the prices are pretty standard, if even less than S&B, which is roughly the same distance away from me here at Tinker, but if this is the typical lunchtime to-go pickup encounter then it's not worth the savings, despite the more...
Read moreI'm a long-time customer of The Garage. I love getting a black bean burger with an egg on it, and the fish tacos are REALLY good. The beer selection is awesome.
I definitely don't like to let one negative experience cause a bad review, because out of the dozens of times I've been here, I've really only had one truly bad experience.
Best friend and I went here a few weeks ago. She clearly ordered an onion burger. Now, it's loud, and we are all human - the woman at the register put a regular burger on my friend's ticket, and a woman brought a regular burger out. When my friend told the woman she ordered an onion burger, and I backed her up, the woman left to correct the order. The woman returned less than one minute later, with the same burger in hand, and a rude attitude. She told my friend, "Um, you ordered a regular burger. THIS IS a regular burger," and gestured the basket towards my friend as if she were going to make her take the stupid burger back. Just as my friend was explaining, "The order may SAY regular burger, but I ordered an onion burger..." with this girl holding the basket in front of my friend's face, manager happened to be walking around and asked if everything was okay. My friend explained the misunderstanding, and then the girl started getting really defensive and rude with the manager. He immediately put his arm around the waitress, started walking her back towards the kitchen, and talked over her telling us it was no issue, they would correct the order. A different employee brought the correct order out a few mins later. I will update this if I go back and receive poor / rude service - or better service - the next time I go. I can overlook one bad experience. If it becomes a trend, I think it's important to have it documented.
The food and beer selection definitely make this place worth a stop. They aren't the only burger and brew place in town, though. So if someone here is rude, consider taking your dollars elsewhere, like S&B...
Read moreMy wife and I do take out here 1-2 times weekly. Heading home after work I stopped in at about 735p to order a cheeseburger and onion rings. As usual it was to go and so I waited. And waited. Went up to the counter and asked if my food was ready. The young man who was nice pointed to my cheeseburger on a non-heated surface. So I’m waiting on my onion rings and noticed two things. 1.Nothing was on the grill and 2.The restaurant was at 30% capacity at best. Yes I am aware onion rings are not prepared on the grill but it certainly surmised they had few if any orders to prepare. At this point I requested the manager. He came up to me and I stated I need my food and I’m waiting on my onion rings. He confirmed with the counter person and he pointed to my cheeseburger that was now sitting on the freezer. Yummy…So after the retail huddle, both the manager and counter person spent the last few minutes with their backs to the counter. Finally at 804p I had enough. I got up went to the manager and told him I’m heading home. Keep in mind the interactions from the manager came at the beginning of our interaction in which he stated “what do you need” after that, as I asked about my food and stated I was leaving, there was never a response. In conclusion, my voice was never raised to any employee, a cross word never spoken. My accuracy on time was based by me thinking I would walk out and be home by 8pm which is 7 minutes...
