Traveling solo tonight for a doctor’s appointment in OKC tomorrow morning. Hawthorn’ Suites by Wyndham we usually consider in the same group as hotels like La Quinta, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn. However, after my stay tonight I will group this hotel with low budget hotels and thereby, way overpriced.
Location is good for either visiting OKC or Tinker AFB. It’s right off I-40, and therefore traffic noise is a little bad; the noisy air-conditioning unit does take a little away from the traffic noise. If you’re a light sleeper, I would recommend asking for a room on the back side of the hotel. When I first arrived, the exterior of the hotel and the main lobby made a positive impression on me; everything appeared updated and clean. It only took a couple of minutes to get checked in by a very friendly young man.
My first room (out of three) was room 201. Flipped the light switch upon entering the door, but nothing. Not a big deal, so I turned the lights on manually. Noticed immediately that the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed lately. The desk surfaces had obvious dried liquid all over. Went to look at the bathroom, and there were huge stains all over the wall next to the toilet; looked like someone had previously thrown up on that wall. Looked at the bed and noticed what appeared to be a stain in the center of it. When I lifted the top sheet, I could hear the sheets separating as if it was caused by some dried up liquid. There were other minor things in reference to cleanliness, but at that point it was time for me to ask for a different room (I specifically asked for a room that had “actually been cleaned”).
I went to the front desk and was assigned room 125 without any problems. Looked at the bathroom, walked back to the front desk and asked the young man to accompany me to room 125. When he asked me why, I explained to him that he’d have to see this himself. When he looked at the toilet (with the lid in the down position) his eyes popped wide open and he went “wow”. There was a mix of water and feces around one of the seat anchors; and not just a little bit. Well, now he goes to check out room 101, before assigning it to me. I checked the bathroom and the bed, which were acceptable to me (only two things that matter on a solo trip). In the mean time I looked around the room and noticed that nothing is getting cleaned at this hotel. Found some, what appears to be, dog hairs on top of the bed. About six feet from where I’m typing right now, I can see a bunch of larger pieces of dirt on the carpet; there is loose food residue in the microwave, and the kitchen area would force us to let go of our cleaning lady.
This hotel has great potential to be much better than it currently is. There is not much wrong with the furniture, décor, and room layouts. Carpet stains, nicks in furniture and walls, and some touch up paint, should be well expected in any hotel that is more than a couple of years old (except luxury and semi-luxury hotels). However, this hotel has no checks and balances when it comes to sanitary conditions. OK, it’s a dog friendly hotel, which is great (we own two muds ourselves). However, we assumed that the additional pet fees are for additional cleaning and upkeep. This doesn’t seem to apply here. Management should add some smoking rooms, since the majority of the guest are contractors who hang around outside smoking (once again nothing wrong with that, since I’m also a smoker).
The only people I would recommend this hotel to, are people with pets (out of convenience). To anybody else I would recommend spending less money for the same, or better, sanitary conditions. Would I recommend this hotel under any conditions for more than one night, “NO”!

Read more“GET OUT OF MY HOTEL YOU THIEVING 🥷🏽” Was the last thing the OWNER of this hotel said to A MILITARY SPOUSE, WHOS HUSBAND WAS GONE TO WORK. How did we get to this point you ask? My wife made a reservation last night, one room, one night, while I was working. The front desk employee could not figure out how to properly utilize his equipment, therefore could not locate the reservation that my wife had already made for us. So he makes a new reservation, and charged us for it. Now we have already bought and paid for the original reservation, but then he actually asked her to pay for the new reservation, she’s a sweet girl and she paid it where that’s where this night would have ended for me, we’re not paying for SHI+, BECAUSE YOU CANT DO YOUR JOB. But oh well, THEN, YOU KNOW WE HAD TO PAY AN INCIDENTALS DEPOSIT, and she paid it. The next morning I’m off to work, my vehicle we had decided to leave at my office the night before, so we had only her car, that I took to work so she could sleep in, thinking she would be safe in the room we bought, twice…. But oh no, you know the housekeepers busted in on her at 9 am waking her up with a lady standing in front of our bed, and she quickly skeedaddled once realized my wife was laying right there. Checkout is at noon, this was 9 am…. Then, at 11:30 am she busted in unannounced for a second time DEMANDING my wife leave, and when my wife gathered her things while the housekeeper stood guard like we had done something wrong, then my wife goes to the desk, where the owner is, and tried to book another night, he refused her service stating that “YOU STOLE FROM ME AND I WIL NOT RENT YOU ANYTHING” and “DEMAND YOU PAY ME FOR THIS ROOM IMMEDIATELY OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE” my wife explained we HAD PAID FOR THE ROOM NOT ONCE BUT TWICE AND WAS ACTUALLY DUE A REFUND, he responded “YOU ARE A LIAR AND I WILL CALL THE POLICE IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE MY HOTEL RIGHT NOW SINCE YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY YOUR BILL!” That’s when my wife, defusing the situation best she could, left the hotel, but not before being called “a thieving nig-er” BY THE OWNER OF THIS HOTEL, and had to wait outside in the cold with 70 mph wind gusts in shorts and a t shirt with nowhere to go because I had her vehicle. She waited outside for an hour before I was able to get there. This is a military spouse. Who paid for her reservation, and not just once, but twice, and paid a security deposit, THAT THE OWNER NOW REFUSES TO REFUND EVEN THOUGH THE ROOM WAS LEFT IN IMMACULATE CONDITION, THEN THE OWNER TRIED TTO CHARGE MY CARD THREE TIMES ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER SHE HAD ALREADY LEFT AND I HAD PICKED HER UP, WE WERE GONE! HAWTHORN SUITES CORPORATE OFFICE RESPONDS WITH, “HERES A REFERENCE NUMBER, someone might call you in a week….” THATS THEIR RESPONSE, NO REFUND, NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION, NO F&$/-...
Read moreRoom was dirty when arriving. The floor hadn't been cleaned. There was trash and Cheez-Its on the floor and the room smelt like someone dumped a whole bottle of cleaner in there. Had to immediately leave after dropping off our bags because the smell was so overwhelming. So we bought a small fan just to air out the room. Plus they have cockroaches. I travel a LOT and this was the first time I stayed at a hotel with cockroaches. We checked in Wednesday November 13th and were staying until Wednesday November 20th. On Saturday November 16th I asked the front desk at 2pm if they could have someone clean the room while we were out. She said yes and she would have her staff take care of it. We got back at 5:30pm and the room hadn't been touched. So I went back to the front desk and the lady I talked to was there so I asked her about the room being cleaned. She said" it wasn't cleaned?" I said no and I again asked for the room to be cleaned while we were out. She came out from the counter appearing to be walking up and talking to a lady about cleaning the room. We left the room returning around 7:30pm and the room still hadn't been cleaned. The trash was taken out but floor still not vacuumed nore had anything been wiped down and no new towels. It wasn't until Sunday that someone came by to clean the room. They changed out the bedding gave us new towels and took the trash. Again no wipe down or vacuumed floor. Our room was located right next to the exit door, the pool and the ice and vending machines. So it was very hard to rest and relax. Hearing the ice machine all hours of the night plus having to listen to people screaming and doors slamming from(10am-10pm) from the pool. Not to mention having to listen to people being loud while they were getting ice. And hearing the exit door slamming every time someone went through it. So needless to say didn't get much rest or relaxation. I wish this would allow me to post pictures that I took of the room. Plus we were scheduled to check out by 12pm (scheduled a late check out) and they called the room at 11am telling us it was check out time. We explained that we weren't scheduled for check out until 12pm so they decided to call again at 11:30 asking us to check out and then came banging on the door at 11:45 this hotel was...
