Thursday 7/6 @ 4pm - employee was rude & sandwiches were dry & tasteless. They were out of some ingredients toward the end of the day (good for them!) However, instead of being proactive and offering what was available the lady coldly recommended we go elsewhere if we want chicken- wow! Menu says each sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato & mayo but what she gave us was bone dry (see pic for turkey and ham). It’s hard to believe that they were even out of Mayo. I was excited to try this spot but have to say “stay away” if you’re looking for any sort of quality service or food. Lunch was ~$35 with drinks and chips and I feel like I could have gotten a better sandwich at a gas station!

Edit: still great after reopening under new owners. My wrap was as thick as a Chipolte burrito. As one of the three reasonably priced places you can get lunch on Atlantic Avenue, Sandwiches by the Sea does not disappoint. It's a hole-in-the-wall where you can get a good sub. Does it need to be anything more? No. No it does not.

I’ve been living in Delray Beach for 16 years and my favorite local shop by far to grab a sandwich during work or at the beach is ALWAYS Sandwhiches by the sea. Everything is super duper fresh, store is spotless, and the value is worth it over a pub sub any day!!!

As many have stated - new owners. First thing that should happen is Google should delete all 150+ old reviews for the previous owners and start new with review stars. Good food. Expensive - $15 for a tuna sub. The real problem is the previous owners used to offer a small (reasonable) size sub. I used to get 2 small subs for under $20. The $15 tuns sub is just too big for an average person to eat. So, it's like this - you get the really big tuna sub, go back to the beach, eat half and the other half sits in your bag for 3-4 hours and basically becomes trash on the way out of the beach. So you end up spending $15 for a half of sub that you actually eat. New owners - please bring back the small size sub option and you would get 5*. No doubt the food is good but $30 for 2 subs (1 ham, 1 tuna) is ridiculous. And don't get me started about the $4 bag...

I am editing my previous review to 5 stars. This place is under new management/ownership and it’s fabulous. I think the previous owner just got burned out. Just be prepared to wait. The lines can get long.

I don’t know what happened to this place. It was my favorite sandwich spot in Delray. They changed the bread, and it’s not as good. But mainly it’s the service. I went there twice this week and both times the woman making the sandwiches literally didn’t put on any of the condiments I asked for except lettuce. Maybe they were out of tomatoes and pickles but say something. I was also the only person ordering in the store. Very strange. And it’s too bad. Everyone is always friendly. But this felt intentional, which is why I’m writing the review. Hopefully they’ll...
