Breakers East Condominiums by Southern Vacation Rentals — Hotel in Destin

We previously stayed at Breakers and had a great experience, which was what we were hoping for when we booked another trip back to Destin in early August. This time we stayed in room 505. Everything seemed normal when we arrived onsite. We parked and went up to the room to scope things out. Upon entering the condo, we were taken back by the horrible stench coming from the unit. It was everywhere. The kitchen, and bathrooms, master bedroom & spare bedroom all smelled awful! After further investigation, we realized the oder was coming from the vents throughout the condo. I wish I had taken pictures of the mold growing in the air ducts. It was horrible! We survived the week by spraying Febreze & burning candles. When we called to express our concerns, the company we rented from stated, “ the unit has been previously rented for weeks with no complaints.” So they sent out a member of their maintenance team to “investigate” our complaint (as we if we were making it up). We happened to be in the condo when he arrived. Thankfully he acknowledged the oder, and let us know a member of their team would be in touch with us. They did combat the issue by placing a humidifier in the unit & by offering us a 30% discount for our stay. I’m sharing our experience in hopes that I can spare someone else the misfortune. While we made the most of our trip, it would have been more enjoyable without having to experience the horrible smell coming from the unit. Spare yourself the heartbreak & don’t stay...

Everything about this property was amazing! We booked through Vrbo and the pictures are perfect - there is no special lighting or angles! The condo looks exactly as advertised. We requested (and paid for) early check-in via a quick phone call a few weeks in advance and our code worked for the door at 1 PM CT as promised. No lines or otherwise waiting for check-in! The condo smelled extremely clean when we opened the door and minus some sand on the floor (to be expected at a beach getaway), it was extremely clean! We had plenty of space in the kitchen and each bedroom and bathroom. There is TONS of storage in each bedroom and bathroom and plenty of clean towels. The kitchen is stocked with every gadget imaginable and the views from the balcony were unbelievable. We did not have any issues during our stay, but the property manager was very prompt to respond whenever we sent a text message. We checked out through a simple text message as well. My husband was able to easily walk to Dunkin for coffee and donuts! We also made plenty of Publix runs with relative ease. The beach never felt crowded even though it was spring break and the pool was definitely heated! We hope to make this a property that we return to...

I've been staying at Breakers East Unit 901 for over 20 years. Some units have been updated and others, well, not so much. 901 was updated the spring of 2018 and it's beautiful! Very beachy decor throughout! I love that it's an end unit so there is an ocean view from the kitchen window, as well as from the family room and master bedroom. The balcony for each unit is one of the longest in Destin. This unit has extra touches that make it so special. There is an under the counter ice machine with small cubes that fit in bottles. Plus, we never ran out of ice and could fill up our cooler before going to the beach daily. The owner keeps a large supply of books and dvds for guests enjoyment. The kitchen is overly stocked. I found anything I needed, including toddler dishware. There are 3 "baby gates" that I've taken advantage of when bringing my own toddlers and now grandbabies to keep toddlers off the balcony while still enjoying the ocean air by keeping balcony doors open! I can't wait to go back next year! I always cry when crossing the Mid Bay Bridge on...
