Hand's down the best affordable hotel experience we have had in a very long time! There is nothing to not like about these accommodations. It is strategically located for convenient access to all the downtown and area shopping, dining, and attractions.
The room was freshly modern and sparkling clean, well laid out, spacious, well insulated from sound, and with all the necessary amenities. For once, a hotel room with instant brew coffee that doesn't taste like muddy water; blackout curtains that actually eliminate all outside lighting; luxurious washcloths and towels that don't rip off your skin; and a walk-in shower that doesn't leave puddles on the floor. We were happy to see they had not converted to the pump dispensers for soap, shampoo, and conditioner, etc. as many hotels are doing now. This site still offers sample sizes of these items which is much more convenient and doesn't require pumping a dispenser excessively just to get out a small dollop of product. A winner! Staff and housekeeping made a point of extending warmth and hospitality.
Breakfast had variety and tasted like grandma had been in the kitchen cooking for you all morning. The cinnamon rolls, and the biscuits and sausage gravy were sooooo good! The scrambled eggs were fluffy and clearly were not the kind poured from a cardboard carton. They were very good. The various fruit juices tasted like juice and not watered down fruit punch--- an issue we've experienced at numerous hotel breakfast bars this summer. The only suggestion I would make: Breakfast is largely (delicious!) carbs and proteins like eggs and sausage. A small side of fruit cocktail or cut up melon, etc. would have gone a long way in complimenting these heavier foods. Absolutely beautiful whole green and red apples, bananas, and (I think) oranges were offered, but no one would likely want a whole piece of fruit with a full breakfast.
Overall, excellent. We will be booking our room here each and every time we're visiting beautiful...
Read moreUPDATE: Really wanted to like this hotel like the last time but they fell short. Will be staying at our other go-to hotel. Rooms were very clean and spacious but the pool was horrible. VERY dirty, needs a good scrub down and vacuumed out. The hot tub was out of order with lots of sandy stuff at the bottom. Looks like there was sand in the regular pool too. Kids didn't swim and were sad. Told the front desk lady. She said another guest just complained about the pool. She walked back with me and made a comment on how bad the pool looked. (I have pictures). Just said sorry and left. We had a King size bed. NO mattress protector on the mattress and the sheets were too small. Not deep enough for the mattress and the sheets kept coming up/off if you moved around. With no protector we kept seeing the bare mattress, GROSS!! Come on... you guys can do better. There are so many good things about this hotel, they just need to try a little harder. Sorry...
Stayed here when our regular hotel was sold out. SO glad we did! We stayed in the new addition. Very quiet. Spacious room. Was really surprised at how large the room was. The living room with a sectional couch was perfect for the kids to play. The breakfast was delicious. (Bacon, eggs, donuts, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bagels with cream cheese, toast, cereal, fruits, waffle maker, 3 types of juice, milk, coffee...) The pool and hot tub was clean. They even have a bathroom/shower in the pool area to rinse off before returning to your room. Bed was a little firm for me. When you walk into the entry way to the new addition they have a coffee bar. Nice to make coffee as you are coming or going. Close to the main strip and was less expensive than our other hotel. Wish there was a gathering place outside. Our usual hotel has lounge chairs and a fire pit to enjoy in the evening. Also it would be nice to have hot cocoa packs for those who don't like coffee/tea....
Read moreThis was our first stay here in a while. We frequent the Holmes County area, and have some other hotel favorites. Unfortunately we had several issues with this stay. Our first night we discovered that our ac/heating unit was not functioning properly (room 302). It was constantly running and would not turn off. We called the front desk and were told they’d send maintenance right up to take a look. After a half hour, no one came, so my husband called again. The young lady at the front desk apologized and said she forgot. I guess there was no maintenance, so she came up. She tried, but could not fix it. She turned off the power from the unit and told us they would have someone look at it in the morning. We said that we didn’t want to be without air all night, so that wasn’t acceptable. She found us another room (310), so we had to pack up our things and move. They added an addition on to the hotel, but did not expand the breakfast seating to accommodate this. Friday morning we had to wait 15 minutes for an empty table. We understand that many hotels are having staffing problems. Cleaning here is not what it used to be. When I went to plug in my phone charger on my nightstand, I saw that there was some brown liquid splashed on the wall between the bed and the nightstand (see photo). Surely housekeeping had to have seen this when they were changing the bed linens. We showed the picture to front desk staff upon checkout. The manager was not available at that time. Hopefully they cleaned it before someone else had to see it. We paid over $500 for a two-night stay, and feel that due to the problems, we did not get our money’s worth. There are so many other options, including the Berlin Grand right across the street. We’re not likely to...
