Got the recommendation to come here from the concierge at my hotel during my stay in Ohio for work. Here begins my review of this establishment.

A very cozy setting, loved the interior design of the restaurant and my server was very sweet, but right off the bat I was sorely disappointed that there were only about two desserts on the buffet that was 18.99 regardless if it was lunch or dinner, but I got over that.

What I couldn’t get over was the meatloaf I got that looked questionable on the buffet. I saw some pink/red in the meat after cutting into it and so I asked the cook that tended to the trays if it was thoroughly cooked and she looked annoyed I even asked and told me “someone already brought that up and yes it’s been brought up to temp and is not raw.” Foolishly I took her words at face value and grabbed a slice and added it to my plate. Upon getting back to the table I started eating it and digging even deeper into my slice as I was eating the pink only got worse.

Now a poor decision on my part was to keep eating, but I thought I was smart in that I ate around it.

Boy was I wrong.

I barely made it back to my hotel after driving for an hour feeling like I was gonna need to stop and vomit, made it up into my room and proceeded to unleash the contents of my stomach into the toilet and I couldn’t stop.

Needless to say I won’t be back and a word to the wise is that if it looks questionable, don’t eat it, don’t eat around it, just leave it in the tray on the buffet.

Being an Amish restaurant I don’t think it’s a very Christian thing or even remotely ethical even in a secular sense to serve food like this to a majority elderly clientele(which were comprising most of the diners here).

I’m a young man and I can get over a bit of food poisoning, however with elderly people or those with a compromised immune system this could easily have someone in the hospital fighting for their lives…

Now I’m out $25 and I’m having to hop back and forth from the bed to the bathroom, but it’s all a learning experience in my eyes…

Wish I would’ve just went to some fast food place instead and I’d be healthier and happier...

Wow, what a find! This restaurant is an absolute gem, and i wish we lived close by so we could go more often! The restaurant is large, spacious and spotlessly clean; there are large quilts hanging throughout that are absolutely stunning. The husband did take pictures of the quilts but he hasn't sent them to me yet so i can't post them, but believe me, they are beautiful!

We stood in line for about 5 minutes, waiting to be seated. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon, so a bit late for lunch, but it was packed. We were escorted to a nice booth near the back, again clean (and dry, which doesn't always happen in busy places). Our server appeared promptly, and my husband opted for the buffet. He came back with some very tasty in-house made options, all of which looked way above and beyond the usual buffet choices you can get. i ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was made with their sourdough bread and Swiss cheese with a side of applesauce. It was large and i was not able to finish it. The husband was very excited to see a pie sampler on the menu and he got a half slice of apple pie, cherry pie and butterscotch pie. i have to tell you, i have not had butterscotch pie since childhood, and it was ssssoooo good! The husband had never had butterscotch pie before and he absolutely loved it, which doesn't always happen.

Overall, we are going back next November; Berlin is a perfect place to stop between home and Missouri. i think it's going to be a...

Went there in late July 2023 with my daughters. We had been there many times before and it was always good, this time was very, very different. We all ordered the hamburgers, which we had ordered before and were excellent. Two of us ordered them medium and the 3rd ordered her's med rare. They all came out well done, extremely dry (no amount of ketchup and mayo helped), and there was so much filler in the meat mixture that it had a rubbery texture. Sent them back and asked if we could order something else. They said sure, so one daughter ordered a turkey sandwich and the other daughter and I ordered the grilled ham and cheese. Well I've never in my life seen food like this. The turkey sandwich looked like pulled pork but this was shreaded turkey and was soaked in some sort of juice. IT sogged out the hamburger bun in less than 5 min and was totally inedible. The real kicker was the "grilled ham and cheese". We've all had grilled cheese before. A slice or two of cheese between two pieces of sliced bread and grilled to a delightful crispy outside. This was a piece of cheese melted to the top of a hamburger bun with 3 paper thin slices of round ham. Nothing was grilled and the ham tasted like a tin can. Had to spit this mess out. All said and done, I paid over $69 for a meal that went totally in the trash. My daughter enjoyed her salad bar, and the rolls were good. We ate the fries, but really, the rest...

My husband and I took another weekend in Holes County and on the recommendation of our Inn Keeper, we dined at the Berlin Farmstead Restaurant. On their web page it says reservations are required, but I called and they said there was currently no line, so we would be able to get right in. This was the off season, so that was probably why, but even then there was a pretty good crowd, and after eating the food, I can understand why. We ordered the buffet and had our fill of mashed potatoes, chicken, noodles, pumpkin souffle, stuffing, salad, dessert. We ordered the deluxe pie, which was an additional $2.50 with the buffet. We were both too stuffed to eat it, so we took it with us. I'm glad we did because this was the best pie I have had in a long time. The price was reasonable and the service great. This was a Friday night and there were a lot of Amish families dining there as well ... A birthday party for one family that took up a back section of the restaurant. We plan on going back on our next visit.

We are locals and have only ate here maybe 3 times. Why? Cause its disgusting. The biggest question I have is why they wouldn't have LOCAL Gerbers Chicken. Dont let them fool you when they say they "only serve GERBERS CHICKEN" thats a lie! My chicken was disgusting. Thin pieces of "pressed chicken". Gerbers doesnt even make pressed chicken tenders!!! And the zucchini fries had to have been frozen out of a bag. Mashed potatoes taste like they're made from a box! For a place in Amish country the food should ALL be prepared fresh and local when possible. It's a bad look for Amish country to eat at a restaurant that doesn't serve actual made from scratch, local, and fresh food. They should pride themselves on that. Because that is what I think guests expect from the Amish. Home cooked food. Their prices are also ridiculous. On a positive note, my husband was happy with his beef, green beans, and cookies from the buffet. And our waitress was super nice and very attentive.

Excellent buffet full of homestyle Amish goodness. Though it is possible to order from the menu, one wonders why anybody would choose to do so. The buffet today had dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, various vegetables, fried chicken, pan fried chicken, ham and roast beef plus more. On the salad side were fresh fixings for lettuce salads and many scratch veggies salads (marinated carrots, 2 kinds of slaw, broccoli and bacon salad, plus several more and all the usual things like macaroni salad and potato salad. I was too full for dessert but there were several yummy looking choices. Fresh warm large yeast rolls were brought to the table. Pie is $2.50 extra if you get the buffet. The dining room is large and is decorated with lovely quilts and Amish themed photographs. Bakery goods and tchotchkes are available near the checkout. Many interesting shops and stores nearby are an added bonus. Very highly recommended!
