Don’t misunderstand my rating, please. The Mai Hana hotel offers a good answer to the basic needs of a short vacation like mine, simply in my opinion and despite being high season and time of great affluence in Orlando, they should improve in some areas to be perfect.
❌ POINTS TO IMPROVE:
ROOMS
They are not always as clean as they should or would be expected to be. Although in our case, when we commented on it, we were re-accommodated in another room without any problem and they made sure it was fine from then on.
They are not acoustically well insulated. I don't know what the experience will be like when you sleep in the rooms facing Intl. Drive, but I can say that in the ones facing the pool you can hear everything, and very well. The closer to the ground, the louder.
BREAKFAST BUFFET
The breakfast buffet is generally “cold” and it has modest quality. In 11 days of stay, there was only a poor selection of pastries, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, two types of cereal and some fruit plus coffee and juice. Put this way, it seems to be enough or even a lot, but when someone stays so many days in a row, expects more variety and above all, higher quality.
FACILITIES and MAINTENANCE
The hotel offers a small room for guests that includes two washing machines and two dryers so you can do your laundry at a price of $3.50 per machine. In our case the problem was that when we went there for the first time, the room was without electricity. The next day, after calling the front desk to find out what had happened and when the laundry room would be available again (without getting an answer from the front desk, by the way), we saw that an “out of service” sign had been placed over one of the machines.
The elevator (having our room on the third floor), stopped working the same day we arrived, and did not start to be fixed until the day we left. Eleven days later.
It is evident from all this that maintenance could be better, or more optimized.
✅ POSITIVE POINTS
The staff, with the exception of a couple of people at the front desk in the evenings, is exceptional. They are attentive, friendly and always willing to go out of their way to help. Of particular note is Christina at the front desk, and one of the buffet and housekeeping girls (the youngest of them). Their friendliness is contagious.
The parking is great, there is always a place to leave the car and if not (as happened to us one day), they prepare a document to leave the car in the parking lot of the restaurant next door without any problem.
The size of the bed is fabulous, large and very very comfortable. I would dare to say that it is one of the best beds I have ever slept in.
⭐️ CONCLUSION
All in all, the Mai Hana Hotel on International Drive can be a perfect solution for you and your vacation. As long as you keep your expectations in check. It has to improve on a few things in our opinion, but it certainly has the potential to become a great hotel in Orlando.

Read moreMy husband surprised me with a quick getaway here to use our rain check SeaWorld tickets that expire at the end of this month! (December) This place was great!!! Affordable and within walking distance to Icon Park, and surrounded by shopping and different restaurants. The rooms were comfy and clean with amazing AC!!! We slept soundly and didn’t hear any noise at all!! The only thing is, the water in the shower does not get very warm and the pressure is very low. But we made it work. The breakfast was meh, we were surprised there wasn’t make your own waffles or anything that most simple breakfasts included in a lot of hotels like this have. My husband liked the muffins though. But besides those minor things, what really made this place was the staff!! They were SO sweet and nice!!! And this place is pet friendly which is a huge plus as our baby, Oso, was traveling with us! They also went ABOVE AND BEYOND our expectations and decorated our room for our anniversary!!! It was really SO special and so beautiful and appreciated!!! Balloons, heart confetti and towel art!!! Wow!!! SO impressed!!! I HIGHLY recommend!! We live in Clearwater and we have stayed in a few different hotels on the I-Drive strip and this is definitely one of the best ones so far!!! Very convenient location. Also free parking and free shuttle service to SeaWorld, Universal and I think Epcot. And the front desk staff gets a 10 out of 10!!! So lovely, I still can’t believe what they did to our room for us!! And they loved on our little havanese puppy, Oso and made him feel so welcome too!!!! We will be back!!
Update!!!
Came back to stay here again for my birthday and surprise proposal!!! They didn’t fail to disappoint once again!!! Helped my fiancé decorate the room for my birthday and then again after the proposal!!! Really they are so great and the staff is so amazing!!! We love staying here and so does our dog, Oso!!! Hands down the best hotel in I-Drive and you can’t beat the...
Read moreOverall I was impressed, this is probably one of the best budget hotels on I-Drive. I used to stay at some of the Rosen properties but they seem to have gone down hill a bit so I was searching for a new option and I think this might be my new go-to place.
First of all it's in a perfect location with everything you could possibly need within walking distance, and I liked the pre arrival check in they texted me about which made checking in at front desk quick and easy. Modern and recently renovated room which was clean for the most part, for the price I don't think you're gonna find much nicer than this in the area. I did notice the desk chair could have been cleaner though. But good sized rooms with a microwave, fridge and comfortable beds. Love how you can order room service to KOBE's Japanese Steakhouse next door which was delicious. The downside is KOBE's customers can use the hotel's parking lot and there weren't many spaces available on Saturday night but I found like the last spot after the security guard guided me in the other direction. Not sure what would have happened if I didn't get lucky with someone leaving though.
Noise was somewhat of an issue for me in the mornings as I could hear people/housekeeping walking around outside so I'll have to figure out how to block that out for next time with white noise or ear plugs. I appreciate how housekeeping respected the Do Not Disturb sign though, I've had problems with that at some other hotels in the past. But the pros outweigh the cons at Mai Hana Hotel, this was great value for money and I'm looking forward to visiting again soon. I have an annual pass at Aquatica down the road and plan on making a few more weekend trips here this...
