All in all okay, no more. If a room is booked for four people, I shouldn't have to ask the front desk for additional sheets to make the kids' beds and towels so that four people can all have individual towels to shower and dry with. On the second day the room was supposed to be "made up" and when we returned they had made the king size bed, not touched the kids' beds AT ALL, and the bathroom was still dirty. On top of that, again they only left towels for three... WTH. The carpet between the big bed and bathroom door had obvious blood stains. Small but very visible. Make of that what you will. I still don't understand why hotels still insist on having carpeted rooms... It's disgusting because you KNOW they don't get actually cleaned a lot.
Breakfast was doable but nothing to write home about. There were fresh apples, grapes, bananas and strawberries so that was a big plus. They had waffle batter in large thermos-type carafes instead of the common dispenser with a matching cup that makes sure you use the right amount. The result was either a waffle that was too small or batter overflowing the waffle iron making a mess. I didn't try the eggs so can't speak to that. They also had bagels, toast, tortillas, some pastries and a decent selection of yogurt. No cereal/granola, if that matters to anyone. The hot breakfast items changed every day but I only tried the biscuits and gravy and they were okay. The pool looked a bit cloudy but it didn't stop us. The hot tub, however, while running, foamed up a ton and the foam had obvious dirt on/in it 🤢 A huge plus was that the bottled water was complimentary and we didn't expect that, so we appreciated that a LOT. We loved having the river trail right behind the hotel for super easy and quick access, and we walked all the way to downtown on it (turned into a roughly 8 mile roundtrip walk). If we came back to Durango, we'd probably stay somewhere...
Read moreUpdate: I have added two stars because the property manager took the time to reach out to me regarding our experience, and is aware of the issues that they are experiencing. They were very kind and understanding, and I hope that future guest have a better experience than we did.
Original post: We frequently stay at Marriott properties, and our stay at this was one was extremely disappointing, it definitely did not live up to the Marriott standards. They seemed to be greatly under staffed, which most likely contributed to the issues we experienced.
The lobby was not clean upon arrival, and the whole hotel smelled strongly of a very fragrant cleaning product (kind of like Fabuloso). The smell was not pleasant at all.
There was trash piled up at all of the trash cans that we saw, and half of the parking lot was completely iced over.
Once in our room we had to open a window because of the strong smell of the cleaning product. We then noticed food stains, and actual food, on the comforter. I took the blanket to the front desk and asked for a clean one. I was offered a queen blanket for our king size bed. When I asked if a clean king blanket would be available later, I was told no because the laundry was backed up. There were also no additional linens in the room to use as extra covers in place of the smaller blanket.
The sofa in the room was also very dirty. When I ran my hand across it to dust it off, my hand came up with grime on it. I then took a wet rag to the sofa, wiping it, and ended up with a dirty rag.
Lastly, there was a mini fridge in the room, but it was not functional.
We ended our stay in Durango early do to our experience at this property. I would not recommend staying here if cleanliness is something...
Read moreI was traveling through Durango, CO. on business and was lucky enough to find myself at the Springhill Suites. The first selling point is their location. The Springhill Suites are located just a few minutes drive away from the heart of Durango and what a charming, beautiful town it is. Also, the hotel was located close enough to the highway for easy access, but just far enough to avoid any highway traffic noise. As an added bonus, the parking lot made me feel completely safe and comfortable parking my car there overnight.
The lobby is spacious and welcoming. It also has an incredibly large dining area where they offer a fantastic, complimentary breakfast every morning. The first floor also offers a business center, an indoor pool, and a very well stocked fitness center.
The rooms were more than spacious. You walk in to an almost living room like set up complete with a work station for getting things done. A sliding door leads you in to a very clean bathroom with plenty of room. Speaking of plenty of room, I've stayed at a lot of hotels in my career and I don think I have ever had such a huge, walk in closet. And that was a big plus for a person like me who travels a lot and likes to stay pretty clean and organize when I do
It was great being back in Durango, CO. I already can't wait to pass through town again. And a big reason for that will be getting back to the...
