The ambiance of the Terrace at the Charlotte Inn is definitely one to appreciate and remember, however, I cannot say the same about the food. Before eating here, I had read wonderful reviews of the food and was looking forward to indulging. I left under impressed and truthfully, disappointed.
The bolognese was dry and room temperature. My boyfriend's steak was quite honestly flavorless, & there was nothing special about the sides it was served with either. A restaurant like the Terrace should incorporate the flare of its environment into its dishes. Instead, the dishes we were served were unmemorable and average.
We were dining to celebrate my birthday, which my boyfriend pointed out when making our reservation as well as confirming it. Whoever he spoke to assured him that the pastry chef was aware & that a dessert would be delivered to our table to ring in the celebration. The promised dessert never came and we were left disappointed and with a hefty check for mediocre food, (the wine however, different story!).
The reason why this is a 3 star review and not 1 or 2 is solely because of our waitress, Anastasia. Anastasia was gracious, knowledgeable and conversational. I am sure she is a reflection of the caliber of service that the Terrace instills in its staff and it was a pleasure to have her as our waitress.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how nice the ambiance is, how attentive the staff is, or how expensive the antique China plates are if the food that sits on them is not impressive itself. And unfortunately, when we dined at the...

The food and drinks were nothing short of exceptional. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and full of flavor, clearly crafted with care and high-quality ingredients. The wine selection and cocktails were equally impressive—thoughtfully curated and expertly mixed.
The atmosphere is intimate and serene, with a timeless, old-world charm that sets it apart from anything else on the island. The décor is exquisite—classic yet cozy, with rich details that make you feel like you’ve stepped into another era. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you slow down and savor the moment. If you have time, you should have a drink in the green room, before or after dinner, just to reflect a little bit.
What really elevates The Terrace, though, is the staff. Warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, they strike the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. From the moment we arrived until the last course was served, we felt truly cared for. We are thankfull for everyone.

The Terrace is hands down our favourite spot on the island. It strikes a rare balance: refined without being stuffy, elegant without an ounce of pretension. Think English country club charm meets island calm — it’s beautiful, unique, and instantly welcoming.
The patio is pure magic — a serene escape from the Vineyard buzz, perfect for long dinners and easy conversation. The food? Simply the best we’ve had on MVY. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and presented with care. This isn’t just another “nice meal out” — it’s the kind of dining experience you remember long after the trip is over.
A huge part of what makes The Terrace special is the team. The waitstaff, many of whom come from Europe, are exceptional — smart, attentive, genuinely kind, and effortlessly professional. And then there’s Vincent, the manager, whose European charm and watchful eye elevate the whole experience. He makes you feel like a regular from your very first visit.
Whether you’re celebrating something big or just want an evening that feels like a treat, The Terrace delivers — every time. It’s not just fine dining; it’s...
