I have been visiting this Courtyard Marriott for roughly 4 months due to a project within a couple of miles; this has been a very positive experience for me.
The design of the place is very modern, open concept, and the staff is attentive and polite. The rooms are large, with a nice modern couch, adequate TV, and plenty of room so that you don't feel crowded. While not the most luxurious place in the lineup of Marriott Hotels, it is definitely a very nice step up from a regular hotel room.
The breakfast Bistro has a large variety of items to choose from. You can grab and go with their selections, or you can order off the menu, which has consistently been of excellent quality. The young lady that works there seemingly every morning is incredibly friendly and welcoming, as is the chef, who occasionally hand delivers your order to your table. The quality of their breakfast sandwiches are great, but I cannot help but order the Daybreak Fried eggs with bacon and home fries; it tastes home cooked, and it's perfectly cooked to order.
The dinner menu is also very impressive. While I wouldn't recommend the potstickers (a little on the gummy side, and not much flavor) or the tuna salad (a bit bland), their flatbread pizzas are delicious. The French Dip is also hearty, filling, and well seasoned; the Turkey Reuben is amazing, and the Roast beef w/ Horseradish is well portioned and leaves you satisfied. Their salads are fresh, and the beers are too.
Special mention goes to Manny, the gentleman who is constantly working at the bistro in the evening, for being respectful and professional to everyone who sets foot there. I even saw one heavily inebriated man snap at him and keep yelling at him for no less than 20 minutes, and he kept himself composed and dignified the entire time; every chance he could, he diffused the tension with his calmness and a quick (though completely unnecessary) apology for any offense he may have caused. If you see Manny, tip him well, he deserves it!
The exercise room is small, but does the job. With 3 quality treadmills and a lineup of freeweights and benches, you can get your exercise in with some creativity.
The building itself is somewhat tucked away, so you cannot see it from the street, but when you get there, you will likely be happy with the place. I've enjoyed staying here these past 4 months off and on, and in future projects in Elizabeth, hope to...
Read moreService was not that great. The beds were really comfortable. Found a few ants late at night in the bathroom when I went for a shower.| Hotel provides a shuttle from the airport but not reliable as we waited over an hour for this shuttle and no pick up. Couldn't take a taxi or an Uber because they don't come to P4 area as it is for the shuttle. We arrived at the hotel, spoke with manager Chai. She was kind to listen but could not do anything to make it up to us. Bad customer service.||Let me tell you the full story of the shuttle:||There is a shuttle the hotel provides but you are better off taking an Uber! This hotel says that they provide you a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. What they don't tell you is that it is run by a 3rd party and they pay the driver accordingly. We arrived at the airport at terminal A inNewark from Vancouver, BC Canada. Then we had to walk a lot and cross a bridge from inside of the airport to the other side in order to catch the air train going to P4 to catch the shuttle. Again, after hindsight, we were better off catching the Uber instead of wasting all this time. We waited over an hour for the shuttle to appear. We made 3 phone calls to the hotel to let them know we arrived. Each time they said that they have called the driver and he will be there shortly. Then we asked other shuttle drivers to take us. They all said they couldn't take other hotel passengers. However, one driver took pity on us and told us to jump onto the Embassy Suites shuttle or the Hampton purple shuttle and it would take us to the same area as the Courtyard Newark Elizabeth, since all these hotels are next to each other on the same street International Blvd. In the end, we got onto the purple Hampton shuttle and then walked right across to our hotel. We checked in at the front desk and we overheard the same lady who told us that the shuttle is coming, telling the driver not to bother going to the airport until 6:45pm because he still had not left his home. Again, really bad customer service and lots of lies....
