El Toro Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Englewood

3yrs ago I gave it a 4.5 but today I’m gonna adjust it to a 1. My waitress (Monica) kept walking away while I was talking to her, idk if it was her natural attitude or if she was having a bad day. I placed a to go order 6days ago that they got wrong. I called in and told the manager about it and he (Juan) said he’d take care of it. He said he was gonna put my name down so I could come in anytime and my next meal would be free. Well I came in and my lil nasty waitress Monica couldn’t find my name and she’s telling me it’s my fault because I didn’t tell her soon enough. So I ended up paying for what was told to me would be free. I asked her why am I paying for what your manager told me would be free and she tells me it’s because she doesn’t have any proof. So I told her that I have no reason to lie and if I didn’t have a conversation with him I wouldn’t know his name or anything. Her response was “I can’t go off of this just cause you say it’s true, next time say something sooner”. She then went to the register to make sure I didn’t leave without paying. I guess I was taking too long so she came to my table and asked me was I ready. I told her no so she sat at the table across from me. Any other time everyone pays at the register unless your at the bar. really has a nasty attitude. I’ve been coming here since they opened this location but I honestly don’t think I’ll be back. I don’t appreciate being treated like a liar and as if I don’t have money to pay for my meal. I’ve brought this establishment a lot of money through the years through my family and I dining, friends I’ve introduced to this place, and bring my job here when we dine out. Cinco De Mayo and as expected the restraunt was busy. The only problem is we ordered on line, phone calls would not go through with a message that their mailbox was not set up. Placed our order through ChowNow at 6:04pm, waited 16 minutes for a confirmation and time for pickup. Wait time was an hour to be picked up at 7:20pm. We arrived at 7:16pm only to be met with a line that extended out the door, into the parking lot and around the corner. Everyone in the line had ordered ahead, the staff was not ready for the amount of business. I asked one server twice to check on my order and cancel it if it wasn't ready, never received an answer. At 8:10pm I went into the bar area and luckily found someone working on a board with names on it. I looked and saw my name on the ready list, had I not done this I would probably have waited alot longer. The food was sitting on the bar, not sure how long it had been there. Once I got the food home we found ground beef tacos that should have been shredded beef, the steak fajitas had meat not fully cooked and vegetables that were burned. Service and food at this location are normally spotty at best, I think this will be the last time we will order from El Toro.

You know it was Cinco De Mayo and you have been through the holiday many times before....how can you not be prepared for the business you know you were going to do???? Alot of unhappy customers. You've lost...

We stopped here while traveling on I-70 it had good reviews and it was right off interstate, sounded convenient and tasty (wrong). 1st. We were seated in the bar area (21 and over ) knowing we had an infant and a toddler, 2nd. we order some authentic Mexican drinks since it is a Mexican restaurant we assume they had them, waitress didn’t even know what we were talking about. 3rd. waitress becomes really unfriendly, that is ok we are there to eat not to make friends. 4th. i order a new item ( Chipotle Tilapia ) took my first bite and the taste was so bad I didn’t wanted to take a second bite so decided to eat the sides, rice and veggies, rice was decent ( anyone can make rice ) veggies had no flavor what so ever didn’t even taste like the vegetable that they were, so i only ate the rice from a $15 dollar platter, I didn’t returned it because I don’t like complaining in fact this is my first review ever, and last but no less the waitress decided to take a break while we were still eating, we finished with our food and waited, and waited, finally someone came and ask if everything was ok, I kindly reply that it was just needed our check, our check was over $50 dollar for 2 adult meals and a kids meal. Normally I am not the person that would recommend or not recommend a place, you can experience it on your own, all i can say is that fast food Mexican restaurants have more flavor and better customer service...
