My wife and I spent 4 wonderful days with Patti (our hostess) at her cottage from May 15th thru 19th, 2019, and loved every bit of it. Sitting on the back balcony watching the dear in the yard. Sometimes over 10 at one time. She was an excellent hostess and helped us with all the details about town, good places to eat. The cottage is within walking distance to town and takes about 10 minutes to get there, but the walk back takes a little bit longer since it is all up hill and you have to go up Jacob's Ladder, a set of steps to help you get up the hill. The cottage itself is very neat and quirky, with a lot of paintings on the walls by the artist (Julie Traxler) who owned the home previously. We had the street level suite, and had plenty of room to move around. The television is set up for dvds, but not cable or antenna, but we didn't miss it a bit, and got more out of relaxing and enjoying each other's company. The jacuzzi tub was great! When we got there, Patti had some music playing in the suite by Joanie Mitchell, incense in the kitchen, and put you immediately in a relaxed state. We would definitely recommend the cottage and do plan to return there in the future. Thank you Patti for being such a wonderful hostess and person.||While we were there we dined at the Filling Station, great breakfast. Myrtie Mae's for some of the best fried chicken in Eureka Springs, the Aquarius Taqueria for the best Mexican corn on the cob, and the New Delhi Cafe for good food and drink and live music.||Eureka Springs is a wonderful town, and...
Read moreDo you need a place to relax? Eureka Springs, Arkansas is a wonderful, interesting, fun town filled with kindness. The main roads twist and wind up and down with steep alleys between the layers. We rented the upper floor of the Belladonna Cottage, which is a 5 minute drive from town. After calling and speaking with Patti directly, I knew we would have an amazing visit. She has a calm, caring presents. The outside of the cottage is cute with light purple and sage green trim. Inside is artistically unique. Deep, rich colors on the walls and floors are enriched by bright paintings and oriental rugs. In the evenings, after turning on the gas fireplace and relaxing on the couch, reading a book seems like a luxury. The mornings are filled with bird song, squirrels and deer in the back yard. The back porch feels like a fairy’s room open to the outside. There isn’t a better place to write and enjoy your first cup of coffee. Motivating ourselves to leave and explore the area becomes more and more difficult with each additional day. If you are ever in Eureka Springs, I would highly recommend...
Read moreThis was my first time staying in a cottage, and now I can't imagine ever going back to a hotel! When my husband and I first arrived at this charming 100-year-old cottage (formerly owned by the late artist, Julie Traxler - read her unique story online), we entered the door into a beautiful, romantic, artfully-designed space with the sound of Joanie Mitchell playing softly on the stereo. The owner, Patti, thinks of everything!||We chose the street-level cottage because I loved the decor and my husband loves not hearing people walking overhead. It was perfect. The space was so peaceful and private, we couldn't even bring ourselves to leave the first evening. We sat on the cozy, private deck, watching deer roam in the woods below. ||Patti (who designed the interior as a tribute to her dear friend, Julie) was the ultimate host. She even took the time to outline, on a map, all the best restaurants and things to do, the kind of advice you can only get from a local. If you want a private, romantic cottage for the same price as a hotel room, go with Belladonna. We are definitely...
