When my friend and I walked in on a chilly day, we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We stated that we'd like to sit inside due to the chill. One of the staff looked at us and said, "You just don't want to sit next to brown people."
We should have taken that as our cue to leave, but we were already there, so we decided to stay (as we had seen online they had a BLT on the menu and my friend wanted one).
Unfortunately, the waitress was then extremely rude. When we asked to leave lettuce off a particular item, she said in a huff, "What, are you allergic to lettuce or something?" My friend was taken completely off guard and felt even more uncomfortable at this point. My friend ordered a cranberry juice and I ordered sweet tea - they looked confused by her order, though it was on the menu, and realized they had to go up to the bar to get it. The sweet tea was hardly sweet.
When the food arrived, the waitress spilled my soup on the table and didn't even attempt to wipe it up. I wish I could say I was upset to lose so much of my meal, but the soup was a massive let down and I barely touched it (I suppose it looked similar to tomato soup, but tasted like water with red food coloring). My friend's BLT had no mayo and when she asked for some, she was given one packet for a huge sandwich. There was only one small slice of tomato on the BLT and the bacon was burned. Her "loaded fries" were cold, the cheese not melted, and the onions were in large slices. She also barely touched her food.
You'd think that would have been the end of our saga on our first night in Eureka Springs, but as they say, "Wait! There's more!"
The wait staff was yelling at each other and degrading each other's work quite loudly in what is supposed to be the "back" of the restaurant, but was only separated from our table by hanging fabric. Another family came in to order a to-go coffee and some mozzarella sticks, and while they received the coffee (after a 20 minute wait), the order for the mozzarella sticks was not put in originally and they had to wait an additional half hour for them - the father actually sent everyone else on to continue doing whatever touristy stuff they were doing while he waited.
When we asked for the check, with more than half our food in front of us, we still left a 15% tip for the fact that we felt so uncomfortable and didn't want to be asked why we didn't tip on top of everything else.
If I could have left 0 stars, I would have. Please do...
Read moreRASIST DISRESPECTFUL XENOPHOBIC PLACE WITH THE MOST ARROGANT EMPLOYEES I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE ANYWHERE IN THE USA AND AROUND THE WORLD. Me and my wife went there for the disco 80‘s night. My wife was drinking wine ( 3 glasses) i was drinking a club soda since I was driving. Around 9:45pm I paid downstairs with cash for our drinks and went to the upstairs bar. After about 5 minutes waiting the bartender came to us said he will not serve us a glas of wine for my wife. When i politely asked him why he said because he doesn’t like the way i am taking to him with. I told him nicely i do apologize for my accent but English is my 6th language and it’s very hard for me to speak without an accent. He said he doesn’t care and called in some old lady. She came in without asking any questions she accused me of breaking her computer, pushing her on stairs and said she doesn’t need customers like me . i told her again politely i do not know what computer or stairs accident she’s talking about an ask her what the problem is and what does she mean by saying “customers like you “ She said foreigners with accent. Then she said - you need to leave now. We did since the was no reason to escalate the situation. i heard her saying to the bartender “ lock the door after these foreigners “ . I feel sorry for you and your employees. I have been in The USA for 29 years. I came here legally and I own my own business. I been to every single lower 48 and Alaska. I traveled to over 50 other countries around the world, but I NEVER EVER seen anyone so disrespectful and disgusting as the people at this place. I will never return to Eureka Springs in my live, there are other places where people will appreciate the business tourism brings to them. I feel sorry for the other businesses in the beautiful city they will lose because of people who work at New Delhi Cafe. Hope you are happy with your employees and them being intolerant racist . Please before you spen a penny at this place consider looking elsewhere. Eureka Springs has tons of great rest and bars where friendly staff will...
Read moreThis was our second time here and we will never go back! First off the food was good, but service was terrible! The 2 stars is solely for the food. Waitress was rude and did not come back to our table to check for refills. We finally flagged her down and my husband was already done with his food and then she brings me a warm iced tea. She also heard my son wrong when he clearly asked for the fried fish sandwich, yet she heard fish and chips. When she brought the food I said he ordered the fish sandwich and her response was "he said fish and chips". I said no he didn't. She did offer to fix it. Anywho, us being easy going he said it was fine and he ate what was brought to him. Then she brings the bill which this time around we were expecting the forced added gratuity (which we were never told they do this) but never provided an itemized receipt. I asked her for one which she didn't know what that meant so I explained it's a break down of what we ordered. She didn't know how so she got the manager. I saw we were charged for the more expensive fish and chips which that was her mistake. She was so extremely rude and even said he ate it and she offered to change it. I said well we should have been told we're being charged more for a mistake. Then she says in a smart way $3 more. I said yes $3 more and then there's the 20% forced gratuity which she DID NOT earn. I used to be a waitress so I know how hard the job is, but given we just paid her that much of a tip that she didn't work for and then she's talking to me like this? Not okay in my book when paying for $18-$20 per person. Just be prepared for the added gratuity regardless of...
