I will start by saying that we were there the weekend of the Annual Zombie Crawl, so there was an onslaught of people and all the restaurants were packed.
So the pros: The place has great ambiance. The host was very nice and was doing his best to accommodate everyone quickly. It wasn't long before we were seated at a table, but that is where the "cons" started.
The cons: After being seated, it was at least 15 min before our server even came to ask us what we wanted to drink. FYI: basic coffee is self-serve. When she brought us our water we immediately put in our order. More than an hour later we were still waiting on our food and we hadn't seen our server in all that time, so my husband went to look for her. She told him she would go check on our order. Well, she never came back to let us know what was going on. Another 15 minutes later, just as we had given up on ever getting our food and got up to leave, one of the cooks came with our food and blamed the server for the delay. No specifics, just mumbled that it was her fault. By that time we were starving, so we sat back down to eat. Let me also point out that there had been other customers who had also left without ever getting their food. We overheard our server telling others that they were just really busy.
My husband had the breakfast croissant and I had a ham and cheese omelet. My husband said his was fine. Mine, however, not so much. There was hardly any ham or cheese in the omelet. What little ham was in it was charred. There were barely any "home style hash brown" potatoes and they were scattered as if they had been thrown on the plate as an afterthought. I had also ordered the Wolferman's English Muffin instead of the toast which was a $2 up charge!!! Just a bit much! Actually, their prices are pretty high considering what you get for the money.
When the cashier asked us how everything was, we were honest. She didn't seem to really care. Guess it was something she asked everyone without really expecting any real feedback. She made no apologies for the 1 1/2 hour wait for our food or anything. We considered asking for the manager, but we had already spent way more time there than we wanted, so we just paid our bill and left. Oh and we let our server know of her less than stellar performance via the 49 cent tip we left her. We have been in many other restaurants during their busiest hours and still got excellent service, and I can assure you, that too was reflected in their tip.
I would like to point out that this location is underground. The day before we had gone to their other location - the annex, which is just a couple of doors away on the street level and had a very different experience, although we had only gone there for coffee and pie. The annex is a great deal smaller and our server was much more attentive. So thumbs up for the Annex. Thumbs down for the...

Great food surrounded by great staff!!! If you’re looking for a place with generous food portions, you’ve arrived!
Let’s start from the beginning. When you are looking to park to eat here, you have option to pay cash or through mobile app, “Passport Parking.” Mobile App parking has clearly designated spaces. App is easy to use. It cost me $3.15 for 3 hours.
Once you enter through the doors, you will go downstairs to the cafe. To my knowledge, this would not be a good eating place for people in wheelchairs. I didn’t see alternative options. If someone knows something different, please comment on here and correct me.
Once I entered the cafe, a friendly young lady greeted me and asked, “How are you? Where would you like to sit?” Once at my table, she mentioned, “Coffee is self-serve and unlimited refills.” You can choose from; “Mud Street Blend,” “Dang Good Decaf,” “Ethiopia,” and “Guatemala.” I tried the bold and dark flavors of, “Mud Street Blend,” and it tasted very good. Offering Dark cherry, Smoky Overtone and Bakers Chocolate Notes.
The menu selection is vast and offers so many good options. After spending some time, I finally settled on, “Grilled Tuna Sandwich.” - $16.25 (Grilled 8oz Yellow Fin Tuna Steak on sourdough toast, with lettuce, tomatoes and red onions.) The sandwich was so big that I couldn’t even finish my entire plate. But it had great flavors. Tuna was cooked to order and in the shape of a heart.
Jennifer was my waitress. She also happens to own this wonderful, multi-year, Award Winning Restaurant. Just like the staff, Jennifer was very approachable and easygoing. She was very helpful in helping me with some questions I had about the area. Thank you Jennifer for your help and advice.
The atmosphere was cozy with plenty of seating options. You have a good sized bar with lots of drinks to choose from. They offer Breakfast and Lunch. Next time I come, I’ve gotta try their breakfast. I’ve heard great things about it from the locals and the staff. Yes, absolutely...
Read moreAllow me to set the scene. Saturday morning, stomach grumbling from the long drive in last night. My girl I decide to roll the dice with Mud Street Cafe, for there are numerous breakfast options here in Eureka Springs. Walking in we see the line out the door, perhaps it’s worth the wait. We observe the numerous accolades adoring the stairwell down to the cafe; however we notice no awards were given past 2011: interesting. The waitstaff take our name and we were given a “I can’t tell” to how long the wait will be. 15 min later and we’re at our table. The hostess, with one AirPod in, mumbles something about the coffee in the back as we’re seated. The first thing we noticed is the lack of uniform of the wait staff, a far cry from their posters of their 2003 best food award. Food ordering goes by with only one issue, the water deliver by the bud boy - also with AirPods in - taste as if someone had spilled pickle brine in it. I cannot stress this enough, the water was undrinkable, for the strong taste of pickle was overpowering. Thank goodness we sated our thirst with the self serve coffee - some café right? Our food comes out: croissant egg sandwich and a Main Street breakfast. The sausage tasted as if it had been in a warming tray for the entire morning: rock hard. The eggs were the highlight, however do not be fooled they left plenty to be desired. The waitstaff came by twice, to take our order and give us the check. No time to say my order was missing the added bacon. In all $44 spent with nothing but a warning and a funny story to give to others. DO NOT COME HERE, they need to wise up to their competitors and rethink theirbusiness strategy, for they cannot coast upon their legacy of old. Sink or swim and in this author’s opinion a McDonalds breakfast would provided better...
