I’m glad I didn’t let any negative reviews impact our decision to book here, because it was a wonderful stay. We learned the hotel is under new ownership and it is evident throughout that the owners take pride in the rooms and service they offer. My partner and I stayed here, along with both of our moms, over the Thanksgiving holiday. We read the directions sent to us before arriving and getting in to our room was clearly described. The rooms were clean, beautiful and had all the amenities we wanted and expected. This hotel is so charming! It has such a unique story, and the artifacts in the shared spaces are a true delight. The Christmas decorations made the space so comforting and special. The views were beautiful even during winter, and our family loved drinking tea and coffee in the shared living space before heading out each day. The location is excellent, being a minute’s walk from restaurants and shops, close to numerous trails, and right in the heart of Eureka. We will surely be making this our regular spot and are looking forward to many...
Read moreDon't stay here!! blood on pillow case, nail head/screw sticking out of the floor which my wife and i tripped on, stains on sheets, and steep non-lit steps (25 steep steps from the ground to our room) and the lighting being out is mentioned in another review from 5 months ago. My wife called and told them about these issues and we were told we could change the sheets but no one could tell us where the extras were kept and this is a large historical house with "private, do not enter" signs on most doors and we were called liars because the "local manger" (this property is operated by vacasa a management company and no one is on site) said the whole room was carpeted and there couldn't be a screw or nail head sticking up. Vacasa refuses to do anything about these issues, do...
Read moreLittle winter getaway Greg and Mary are wonderful host!! They showed us the remodeling they are doing on some of the rooms and shared some history of the house. This house is warm and inviting in the beautiful historic district but yet such a great 5-10 min. walk to restaurants, bars and shops. The trolley stop is steps away to take you anywhere you want to go. The common area is so inviting in the morning to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful view or play some games with our friends in the evenings.I would love to go back in warmer weather to sit on the front porch to enjoy the view of the other beautiful homes.. We stayed 5 days and were sad to go! Thank you...
