RUN DONT WALK AWAY FROM HERE. WORST PLACE IVE EVER STAYED AT.
First I want to start off by saying that this is a disgrace to be called a best western. I have been a loyal Best Western member and have never had issues staying the Best Western prior. I just want to start off by saying that this was supposed to be the start of an amazing vacation that was completely ruined by this awful stay GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.
I checked in it 12:00 in the morning because I made it 8-hour drive all the way from Northern Florida. This was the best rated place in Homestead so I decided to stay here. This was the first mistake I made. I LOOKED AT 3 DIFFERENT ROOMS.
The first one that I checked into the air conditioning didn't work. There was hair all over the floor and for the air conditioning to not work on top of the room being disgustingly hot and dirty was ridiculous.
The front desk lady was very nice and she offered me two other rooms to try out. Mind you this was at 1:00 in the morning when there should be no tolerance for unclean conditions and I just wanted to go to bed.
The second room that I tried out was just as bad. The toilet was not stopping with running constantly and it was hot and extremely full of hair.
At this point I am just ready to give up and decided to just stay in the third room because how much worse can the other rooms really be. JOKES ON ME. To their credit this room's air conditioning did actually work. But instead the shower handle completely came off of the room. There was hair still all over the floor and to make it worse there was even toenails all over the floor too. EW to make matters even worse after I stayed up until 2:00 in the morning trying to figure out what room to get in I did both of my locks to make sure that I could sleep. If I did not have the second emergency lock, the cleaning lady would have walked straight into my room at 10:00 in the morning because my deadbolt did not work. THE SAFETY HERE IS RIDICULOUS. As a female that travels solo this is my worst nightmare. Even worse is when I got out of the shower and the floor was wet when I tried to mop up the water because I actually care about cleanliness the towel turned black. DISGUSTING
When I called to try and at least get some kind of discount the front desk said that that wasn't even possible. WHAT A JOKE OF A PLACE.
I know that this sounds like a crazy review to believe but just look at the proof in the pictures. Make your best judgement, but management is awful and stay ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.
Shame on management and shame on the best western marking this hotel...
Read moreOur stay exceeded our expectations. Was Clean, Cozy & Comfortable. The pool deck is large, with abundant patio seating. Each time we left for adventure and returned our bed was made, trash taken out, and fresh towels and toiletries. The breakfast staff members are each a little different. the first was Hustling to keep food stocked, yet not too busy to greet guest in a friendly manner. Further into our stay, they became less friendly.. personal music blaring from pocket, and doesn’t have an approachable vibe… Breakfast offers many different options, my favorite being the waffle maker with toppings available! Also, breakfast is served till 10am. (I do wish the cleanup could start after that time, it feels a bit rushed when housekeeping is pushing chairs around and sweeping when you’re trying to eat) Rates are great!! The rooms are not overly stocked with furniture. It’s simple, yet very accommodating.
*2year update: Our first room the air conditioner was broken. After maintenance was called, and he couldn’t repair it, we requested another room. Luckily, there was a cancellation and we were granted another room. It was clean, cool and comfortable. Breakfast area is clean, with options to choose from. We were thinking biscuits & gravy were an option last time- maybe not.. this time fake eggs and sausage, Canadian bacon were the main course for 5 mornings. (With enough salt & pepper the eggs are tolerable). The pool area was clean, although we didn’t get to enjoy it much. The water temperature wasn’t cool, felt a bit like warm bath water. A large family/group of Spanish speakers set up camp on the pool deck for a few days. Complete with suitcase sized Bluetooth speaker & extension cord. One call to front desk, the music was immediately resumed to a...
Read moreI stayed more than 50 nights at Best Western properties last year. ||Gateway to the Keys is a property that offers the worst of just about everything you'll see at a BW motel-style location.||This is a motel. You know, the doors open to the outside, and it's an older property. BWs of this type typically have the same problems: a mildewy, stagnant smell and an air conditioner that does not dehumidify, so the room is both cold and damp feeling. Even the sheets feel cold and not-quite-dry.||The floors here were filthy. I know this because I saw black water running off the soles of my feet in the shower.||The front desk receptionist was just shy of being rude and I sensed she was ready to make me wait until EXACTLY check-in time before giving me my key. She stopped herself, though, and checked me in upon seeing my loyalty level. The hotel wasn't even close to being busy.||Now, the good things: it's in a great location for visiting the national parks. Everglades and Biscayne are easy to access. It turns out that Florida City is literally the last frontier of occupied land before you hit the overseas highway to the keys and Dry Tortugas. So, score another point for location.||There is a surprising number of good restaurants around and a Walmart just around the corner for stocking up.||As it turned out, my flight home got cancelled so I was stuck in South Florida for an extra night. Ordinarily, I would just try to extend my reservation at the hotel. In this case, I checked out and moved to...
