A strange self-serve concept that hopefully doesn't catch on.
We arrived at 7:30 or so on a very hot Friday evening. The place was busy but there were open tables outside. There is a small placard near the entrance that says to seat yourself, which I did not notice right away.
We sat ourselves outside thinking we'd brave the heat (all tables were in the shade at least.) Unfortunately there are no misters here (owners: if it gets over 100 degrees regularly in the summer, why not install misters?) There were no menus on the tables and we didn’t see any servers so we deduced that we must need to order at the bar. We used our phones to look up the menu online.
There were two bartenders and it wasn’t too hard to get a drink order placed. They take their time and make cocktails in the typical modern “cocktologist” fashion, if you know what I mean (hipster style, which is better than truck-stop style.) Honestly, no complaints with the bar. The drinks were very good. We were given a number to place on our table for the food.
The food arrived with extra plates which is nice, but no silverware or napkins. I asked about it, and was told everything is on the end of the bar inside and is self-serve. Waters if you want them, are also self serve inside at the end of the bar.
The food was decent. We had a salad and a flat bread, I believe the name was the Figueroa. The pizza, er flatbread was just ok. The salad was good. We left most of the pizza there since we were starting to melt in the heat.
Overall, I would recommend this place to young people that don’t know any better. It’s a good place to go for a drink unless the band is bad. It’s a very loud place also, unless you sit outside. Resist all temptation to eat here, as you will be taking care of everything yourself (except...
Read moreI loved the atmosphere and the music as we walked in. It was today on a Sunday at 2 pm. I brought my kids but it's a restraunt by day. The sign said seat yourself so we did the 3 people sitting at the bar and the one bartender looked at us as we came in. We sat there 20 minutes and considering they aknowledged us and we're not busy I started feeling unwelcome. I looked up on their website as I sat there thinking maybe they only serve dinner on sundays. I searched their website and found nothing about exceptions. Poor customer service. Got up and walked out an uncomfortable experience. I could have been a 5 star and told other how great you are. Its said A customer with a bad experience will tell 20. Great set up but the building doesn't create the experience the people do. There was not a...
Read moreThis is a very relaxed place to hang out and enjoy a good selection of draft beers and wine, and good flatbread pizzas. The inside area is great, very rustic with lots of brick and good views. Outside there's a large balcony with lots of seating, overlooking Sutter Street. Really a great location. I enjoy the open mic on Wednesday nights and the live music on Sunday afternoons is always cool. It doesn't seem like anyone is really taking good care of the website though because you can never see who is playing on Sundays and during the Covid shutdown it still said the open mic was Wednesday as if nobody had bothered to change the website for the last year. Overall thumbs up though for this place as it is always very...
