I really wanted to like this place. It's location is great, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. That said, it's understaffed, breakfast was horrible, the pool is barely bigger than a bathtub, and the "patio" had one table, four chairs, and four or five lounges (no other small tables). We are elderly and mildly disabled (not wheelchair-bound), and had hoped to sit outside with a friend to visit. Three men were at the only table, so we were out of luck, since the three of us lining up in a perfect row in lounge chairs was a little weird. There isn't any seating in the lobby appropriate for the elderly--no chairs with back support, and all so low that if we had managed to get in, we'd never have gotten out. I think it would have been ok with staff if we'd sat and visited with our friend in the breakfast area, but there was no food or bar service after 11:00 on a Sunday, so that, too, would have been a little weird. Some of those chairs were ok, and we tried to drag them to the friendlier-looking lobby area, but then the coffee tables were too low for a cup of coffee. There was one equally inadequate chair in our room, but it's weird to meet friends in your bedroom, and none of us could have gotten up from that one, anyway. Again. Not awful. Just weird. The room itself would accommodate a wheelchair, but "accessible," shouldn't mean "impractical." There were shelves and an appropriately-placed mirror, so the architecture was fine (it was probably retrofitted), but otherwise there was no consideration of guests' needs. Really, all we required was a walk-in shower, but had to give up vanity space and reasonable furnishings in the room. The two concepts aren't incompatible, but they need to be given some thought.
The facility seemed newer and clean, and, except for the breakfast, I can't even blame management. The staff I met (not including the cook), were giving it their all. Whoever chose the furniture is completely insensitive to elderly and disabled people. The bed was very comfortable, but it seemed a little odd for three 70+ aged friends to sit on the bed to visit.
I didn't expect a destination resort with all the amenities, but I did expect to be able to meet a friend for a visit in the lobby or on the "patio"--especially given the price. If you're hale and hearty and don't want to use the pool or patio, maybe you'll like it. We did peek in the gym. It had three pieces of equipment in it--none we could use, but probably ideal for some people.
We were scheduled for two nights and checked out...
Read moreThis is a beautiful, clean, quiet hotel that did not seem to have many guests the last time I stayed. And that's not due to expense either!! Granted, we booked with an app, but it was literally only $140 for 5 nights!! On top of that, they do allow pets, even my friends' rambunctious and often terrifying English bulldog. Also, our "room" on the second level was huge (I guess they get bigger as they go up. It entered into a large living area with big windows, high ceilings, large TV, microwave, mini fridge, desk and half-bath with a large couch/recliner combo that folded mouth into a full-size sleeper. The windows shades were electric and lighting natural. Then to the left, another bedroom, again very spacious with another large TV, separate heating/cooling from other room, and this bathroom had a walking shower as well as abath/shower combo that had 2 shower heads. Although neither of us had physical handicaps, it would be incredibly accommodating hotel if you did as all the doorways are super wide, the tables and desks are at a chair level and there is alower peep hole on the door as well as an emergency phone by the toilet. Maybe because it is less than a half mile from the Lady Moon Banner health campus. The only thing I disliked (because I am cheap and love free breakfast) was that their buffet cost $15 for adults , I think $9 for kids. Honestly though, it was beyond worth it!! Way better and more inclusive than a continental, with high quality breakfast items, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs sausage links, French toast, etc. They also had a menu you could.order from that seemed toninclude about the same things as the buffet but my guess would.made to order. But the buffet was so fresh, it made more sense (plus, then we were able.to take it upstairs and share with the dog.) My friend even forgot his oj downstairs and the attendant brought it up to our door. Very festive and beautiful, fun decorations in the lobby for Christmas and even a gift wrapping statin complete with several choices in gift wrap, bows etc. C At the edge now fort collins as all but 4 of the hotels are, but across from a shopping comex.complete with super target, Lowes, sprouts, Panerai, and poured river library to name a few as well as the hospital to the east and various restaurants within a quarter mile. Very impressed. Staff was courteous and helpful without being overly nosey/judgmental like I...
Read moreI was traveling to Fort Collins for work and needed a place to stay for 5 nights. I called the reservation line the week before to make the reservation (this is important later), and everything seemed fine. I checked in later in the evening on my first night and the woman working the front desk was very nice. When I got to the room, it looked okay. The beds were acceptable, as were the pillows. The window shade would not roll up the entire time I was there, and it looked like it might have been an electronics issue since there was a cord that was disconnected towards the top. On the second day I found someone else's sock next to one of the beds where it should have been easily seen by the staff.
The biggest issue - and the one that caused me to leave early - was that they were tearing out the parking lot and sidewalks all week. At no point on the phone nor when checking in was this mentioned, I was just awakened by jackhammers at 7am on my first morning. In the elevator was a diagram of the parking lot with difficult to understand zoning as to what would be happening each day. Parking became a nightmare (and you never knew if you would just get parked in by the construction equipment even if you weren't in the "construction zone" that day), and the noise was ridiculous.
I finally couldn't handle it any longer and went to check out two nights early. When I told the person at the desk why, and that it was frustrating that the construction work wasn't communicated when I reserved nor checked in, her response was "well, most employees didn't know until they came in on Monday." That, frankly, isn't my problem and sounds like there is a major management issue. As someone who worked for years in reservations management, I would be burned at the stake if I failed to communicate major issues that would affect their stay to my customers and/or if I responded to a complaint like that.
Besides the terrible communication, the hotel itself is mediocre and it's crazy what they charge compared to other hotels in the area that provide free breakfast (they charge for a run-of-the-mill continental breakfast). I will definitely stay elsewhere next time...
