First impressions, the place was themed and decorated like a nice seafood restaurant. Super clean and the staff were welcoming and very polite. As we’re looking at the menu we were looking to order some wine and noticed no alcohol on the menu, despite a huge bar as soon as you walk in. The waitress informed us that they had no liquor license. That was a bummer as we were out to celebrate with a nice meal and a glass of wine. Opted for a glass of tea with the absence of alcohol, but it wasn’t a regular tea like Lipton, brisk, etc. it was a very strange tasting tea. Oriental perhaps? Idk. But I couldn’t drink it.. We ordered crab and shrimp. The food tasted pretty good but the music that was playing was horrific and didn’t compliment the decor and theme. It was non stop r&b of sorts. Not sure what to call it but it gave bad vibes while trying to enjoy a crab boil in a pirate/nautical theme restaurant. We hurried to finish our meal and leave because we actually had headaches by the time we finished eating. I feel like this place has potential but obviously has some identity issues. The lack of beer or wine on the menu certainly is an issue. It’s also a bit odd that they’ve been open since October but don’t have a license? Between this issue and the horrid music playing, I’m afraid we won’t be back. That’s a shame because we got excited when we discovered the place, even more excited when we walked in and saw the work put into the theme. It was cool! But after that it kinda went downhill for us besides the staff. The staff were really great. Get some alcohol on the menu and put some music on that goes with your theme, Caribbean, island, jimmy buffet, etc. Just some ideas that might help you fit the vibe that you spent so much effort in...
Read moreWe came here tonight excited to try something delicious and we were sorely disappointed.
The fried shrimp basket we ordered as an appetizer, along with the hush puppies were actually very nice.
The boil we ordered to share was another story, bland, overcooked and rubbery shrimp+lobster. Sausage tasted quite funny. Corn and potatoes were just unappetizing from the moment we opened the bag. (How do you undercook potatoes but not the seafood?) We each tried a piece of each and decided it wasn’t any good. The redeeming quality was the crab legs, but after everything else it was just a disappointment.
We would have loved to bring this up to the server, but Ricky was nowhere to be found. Eventually we flagged down another server asked for refills and extra sides to maybe make it better.
We were then left there again, with no sign of our server. All of the extra sides didn’t help anything and we weren’t able to tell anyone. When we finally flagged our own server down, all of this was mentioned. He had to “talk to the boss”. We were offered 10% off the boil, when we barely ate any of it. ($5 discount on a $53 item). Seems odd for leaving a vast majority of the food behind.
We still paid $85 for everything said and done. We didn’t even eat the food. Crazy. Not even an appearance from a manager.
We left sorely disappointed. Service, atmosphere and food were all lacking. It was a waste of our...
Read moreOh man, captain hook seafood in fort collins really leveled up since my wife and I went the first time 9 months ago. Easily the best seafood boil ive had in colorado (we’re from houston, tx so we know good seafood as pretentious as that sounds) and the price is excellent. The crab was huge (tons of meat in the snow crab) and the mussels were bountiful and high quality. The biggest compliment I can give is how well cooked the crab is and how great the seasoning and garlic butter is. Every single piece of crab pulled apart perfectly.
The crab had a light sweetness, the cajun seasoning was exceptionally well done and the garlic butter with tons of actual garlic and lemon slices is unrivaled highly (get extra juicy - extra spicy) . It’s MUCH better than when it opened - absolutely perfect now. The service was extremely fast and attentive and friendly. This is not only the best seafood in colorado (yes ive been to juicy seafood and crab & shell), it was of the best meals ive ever had.
Also, there is a full bar now. If I had anything else ai’d like to see it would be toasted sopping bread 🥖 to soak up the boil and fried okra as an appetizer hut thats it. Price, flavor and service...
