I'm downgrading from 2 stars to just one: The level of spice on a socalled MILD dish is absolutely RIDICULOUS. It's now completely inedible (the leftovers from our take out a couple of nights ago). I couldn't eat any of the Panang on the night, my husband struggled through it, sweating bullets, and left about half - wanted to finish it tonight but he had a couple of mouthsful and said no, impossible, INEDIBLE. RIDICULOUS! AND EXPENSIVE TOO - there is no way this is mild. Had to throw it away. The only dish that was good was the Pad Thai. ANyway, here's the rest of my review
Gosh, how disappointing. Got take out, Tom Kha soup, I ordered no spicy and no cilantro. It was completely tasteless and when I say completely, I mean completely. I don't know how a soup like this can be tasteless but it was. If you'd blindfolded me and given me a taste of this and a taste of hot water, I really don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference. Maybe very vaguely, but this soup should be full of flavor. We didn't even eat it. The Pad Thai Noodle, Shrimp (also ordered no cilantro) - that was very good indeed. Generous number of shrimp, tasty, no complaints at all. We would both recommend it. Panang Curry, Chicken, Mild (YES I ordered mild), No cilantro, was SO spicy that my husband sat with a paper napkin on his head (sweating so much) and I took one mouthful and couldn't eat any more. The portion was VERY generous, and very wet (which normally we like) but the TINY portion of rice was just ridiculous - it was barely enough for just my husband to eat, so it was just as well the curry was too spicy for me - and rice is such a cheap commodity, how can they give such a TEENY portion like that? My husband said the Panang was good but he was overwhelmed with the heat - I specifically chose mild so that we could both enjoy it, and as I said, I took one mouthful and it set my mouth on fire, and my husband was perspiring the entire meal. VERY DISAPPOINTING. We'd planned on sharing each entree together. I ended up with just pad thai. He had the panang and sweated through it. WE WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK. For $51.36, you'd expect a better meal. We used to get amazing thai food from the wonderful 84 thai (until they recently closed) and we've been looking for a replacement for our weekly thai - and were hopeful this would be the place. What a disappointment. ...
Read moreOur favorite Thai restaurant in Davie has just opened this new location in Ft. Lauderdale. We went to try it today and it was wonderful. This new restaurant offers a large selection of traditional Thai and Sushi dishes, but the main attraction is their Authentic Thai menu. This is a selection of dishes prepared exactly the way you would get them in Thailand. As far as I know, this is the only restaurant in Broward that offers this type of cuisine. The selection of dishes is fairly large, so I will be coming back to try more authentic dishes, but today I had the duck noodle soup and it was delicious. The duck was crispy and the broth was full of flavor. Other dishes we tried from the regular Thai menu (Cashew Nut sauce with tofu) and Sushi menu (Volcano roll) were also excellent.
Service was as good as what we are accustomed to at Cilantro, friendly and efficient. You are always welcome with a smile, specially by the co-owner and manager Tan.
This restaurant is located in what used to be Dirty Ernie’s, just south of 17th street causeway on Federal Highway. The place has been completely remodeled and it looks great. They have only been opened 1 week, but I’m sure they are going to attract a large clientele very quickly.

Read moreLast night, met 2 friends for happy hour and sat upstairs on the outside deck. It was perfect weather to be outside! Lahar was our barmaid, and she was so awesome!!
My friends have been to BKK, but this was my first time. Because we all order so differently, Lahar was kind enough to make 3 checks. I usually go for the lychee martini, but wanted to try all new stuff, so Lahar made me a cucumber martini with vodka instead of gin. It was DE-LISH!! So good that one of my friends also ordered one.
I started with the crab tartare. It’s real crab jazzed up and served on a round of mashed avocado. O!M!G! I savored it for about 15 minutes. It was so good!! Had I been home, I would have licked the plate.
Then, I had a Hamachi Hotto Roll – no jalapenos. It still had a mild heat, but very mild. The roll was enormous – twice the size of a normal one. I ate half and have the rest for lunch today.
Everyone enjoyed what we ordered – some soups, some cooked Thai food.
All in all – great food, great service, and of course, great company. I’m definitely returning so I can work my way down the menu. So many things...
