Had three different people work on me today without much communication. The first guy told me he was āreally tiredā after finishing the baseāa solid color dip and almond shaping, even though earlier in our conversation he said the day hadnāt been very busy so far. He said someone else would do the (simple dot flowers on four nails total) design for me. There was miscommunication at the start regarding the design despite me having pictures for reference so I asked him if heād explain my design to the next person. I was frustrated that the first person was too tired to finish but since he had earlier gotten one of the bottles glued to his hand and had to step away to fix that (understandably), I figured he needed more time to address that. I was concerned for him but I noticed he went to another customer and did their pedicureā¦
The second person did some of the flowers a little sloppy, so I asked that he redo two of the four nails so I had flowers that were recognizable and not placed/spaced out without any concern for the overall look. He did ask where I wanted the flowers specifically the second time and I did my best to tell him but I expressed that I just didnāt want to feel like I was being rushed or overlooked. There was a little girl in the salon who kept coming over to try to play with the polishes that we were using while he was working on the design. He finished the design and walked away, for what I assumed would be my paraffin wax and lotion.
A third person then came by and put oil on my cuticles and told me I was done. I asked about my paraffin wax and she said that she didnāt realize I had selected that manicure (but my sheet was out the whole time and perhaps one of the first two people could have told her?). She kindly left to gather those items and was super sweet when she was doing the massage and wax. She explained that it was her day off and she had to bring her kids in. I understand these things happen, so I wasnāt upset about the little girl coming to play with the polishes so close to me anymore. I paid with her and left. And yes, I still tipped because Iām not a jerk and services were provided.
I had come in because of good reviews online and my visit started out very friendly. I was also impressed with their dip/color selection! However I do not think Iāll be returning based on the constant switching, lack of communication, and execution. Maybe donāt lie to the customer about being tired if what you actually mean is āI have to move to another customer because we arenāt fully staffed.ā In the sunlight I can now see that the shape isnāt smooth on every nail and the white gel from one of the messed up flowers wasnāt fully buffed off so there is now a white cast over the tip of that nail.
Update: I have chipping on my nails, the clear gel is flaking off and exposing the matte black...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came to this salon because I received a coupon in the mail stating they were apparently under new management. They pretty much kissed my behind but once I had a complain, it was completely different. I patiently waited a little over 2 hours for a basic mani, pedi, and full face wax. My nails on my hands were not dry after an hour of leaving the salon. They were completely ruined just by grabbing luggage because I was going out of town. The lady doing the mani read my order incorrectly and gave me a basic mani instead of a deluxe. I was trying to give them more money. She was also rude and not having that day. When addressed I was told "Well we all have our days." The pedi had 2 layers of polish. You could see where they used acetone to remove the polish off the skin. The lady did offer to redo the pedi, but I didn't have time and solely went for the refund at the time. Regardless I didn't want anything to do with this place. I asked for a refund on the mani. It took a bit of going back and forth before the manager agreed to give me the regund. The manager said she would be calling the credit card company and that it would take 7-10 days to receive the refund. I waited 2 weeks for it and nothing, so I called her back. She had nothing but excuses. I was probably never going to get it because she wanted me to go back into the salon. Why would you want an upset customer to have to go back into the salon?! She even made it a point to say, "Well I suggested from the beginning to come in." (I couldn't because I was out of town). She also had the nerve to speak Vietnamese when I was there as if that was going to intimidate me or something. She knew English and she should have said what she had to say in English. Overall it was not a good experience. Save your money and go to Onyx or the salon...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm so confused by the bad reviews on Hollywood. I have family and friends that have been using their nail techs for over 4 years. I started going 2 years ago. I have never had a better experience. Things sometimes do not go as planned, but it's usually my fault for not scheduling ahead of time. Additionally, that's life!
Hollywood has the best staff. Travis is KING of the Pedicures! I hate when I slack and have to have someone else do my toesies, but it's still a good service no matter who does it. Just, he's the KING. Neng is amazing, and I snag her to do my manicures whenever I can. If I could list all of the other amazing techs, I would. I also get my eyebrows waxed there from time to time - perfection, always. Courtney is the friendliest, customer service-driven manager. She knows me by name, asks about my family, and keeps a smile no matter how busy it is.
There is a nail salon walking distance from my house, a few around my job, and a million on my way to church, home, work...I consistently chose to drive all the way back to Alliance from Denton after a long day's work to get my mani-pedis at Hollywood. The cost is worth it, the time is worth it.
And just to put this out there - we expect to be respected in out jobs. Please respect those who are doing their jobs in service to you. Making your fingers and toes pretty is just as important as sitting at a decision-making table for a business. Love what you do, and be kind to the others that do the rest of what...
