I’ve been coming here for over twenty years, it was amazing until now. Being a chef for over 22 years, here are the things I would never allow to happen if I was running the restaurant. At 30 minutes before closing time. Their line was already wrapped up and put away, the deli slicer was already broken down and cleaned(they slice the meat and cheese to order) I was told I couldn’t order a particular sandwich that my 75 year old mother wanted because “We can’t make that because we’ve already cleaned the slicer.”. So I ordered 2 outdoorsman’s. They had pre sliced meat and you’d figure they had pre sliced cheese. Guess what, GUESS WHAT! It didn’t come with all the meat it should have or ANY cheese as described on the menu. On my sandwich I wanted all of the vegetables. I was only given 4. By that time I ceased to order it the way I normally do and let nature run its course. I asked for broccoli cheddar soups, the lady shouted it to the coworker who wasn’t able to acknowledge it. The order was unfinished. They forgot the soups. I ordered a drink, she just poured big red in it without asking what I wanted. I then sarcastically asked how did she know that I love big red. Charged me full price, almost $40. Tore my receipt off the printer, and threw it away, again, without giving me any options. The bread was stale and tough, I suffer from TMJ, so my jaw became fatigued and my jaw popped out of socket upon the 3rd bite and a bicuspid became loose. I couldn’t eat it. I was ready to quit my job and save this restaurant so I applied online for the assistant store manager position to put an end to the terrible food and service after enduring 100% disappointment. Yep, you guest it, no response, hung up on me when I called. If you have a Time Machine, go eat there between the 1990’s and 2000’s. Otherwise, don’t waste your valuable time and money to pay their bills. They should be ashamed of themselves for short cutting, poor communication, knowingly serving less than the standard and charging you for all of it IS THEFT. Not only is it unfair to the customer, it’s unfair to the company. This skews the inventory and provides inaccurate numbers, affecting the overhead budget, future forecasting for budget, food cost, and leaves no room for replacing and/or repairing equipment, pay raises(to the honest employees. All so that they can ironically get off the clock faster, get a low paycheck, and complain about not getting enough money. I hope everyone...
Read moreI stopped by yesterday (sandwich pics and bank screenshot included) and spent $27.73 - including the tip which hasn’t been processed on my debit card yet). I didn’t get a receipt printed out because I didn’t think I’d need one. Reading all of the reviews from other customer’s who had the SAME EXACT problems makes me wish I had!
I bought a veggie croissant and a grilled chicken sandwich with two tiny bags of chips - NO drinks... almost $30 bucks! Drove home to find that the chairs in front of the sandwich bar aren’t just for Covid safety, but they serve as a place to hide your sandwich while they slop it together. We were so disgusted when we opened our sandwiches that I almost drove them back to the store, but decided another 1.5 hours in the car roundtrip was insult to injury. My husband’s chicken sandwich had 10 child sized, irregular cut pieces of chicken - see pic. The sandwiches speak for themselves - almost no lettuce, a few strands of paper thin onion... honestly unbelievable! My veggie croissant had only 2 tomatoes, 6 paper thin cucumbers, a slice of cheddar so thin you could see through it and maybe 15 strands of lettuce between both sandwiches.
I understand it’s a sub shop, but no one is ever happy to serve you and they are always very quick to push you through the line. For around $15.00 a meal (sandwich and chips - NO drinks), these sandwiches should be overflowing with meat & veggies...ESPECIALLY since you charge EXTRA for pickles, olives, sprouts and sunflower seeds! This is the 2nd time this year that this has happened to us. I’ve been buying sandwiches here for 10+ years, and my hard earned money is much better spent at sub shops that fill their sandwiches with ALL the veggies for 1/3 the price. I’m not one to leave reviews, but as a business owner myself, I couldn’t let this happen to us twice without...
Read moreI just realized I reviewed this place 7 years ago. This establishment is the model of excellence and consistency. Every sandwich I've ever eaten here has been delicious. I think I've eaten my way through about 2/3 of the menu. Their breads are delicious. The meats are cut fresh while you watch. They have some vegetable options that you'll rarely find at other places, like sprouts, mushrooms, three different kinds of peppers, etc.
The chicken salad is a particular favorite of mine now. I don't like chicken salad that has a lot of fruit or other sweetness to it. The chicken salad that they make here at the Great Outdoorsman is mildly savory and contains no fruit that I can find, so no sweet taste. It is extraordinarily delicious.
Oh jeez, I almost forgot the chicken poblano soup. IT'S STUPENDOUS!
My old review from 7 years ago. Every word still true. A great sandwich shop. The outdoorsman is delicious. They have sprouts! All sub's can be ordered hot or cold. Great prices. Staff is excellent. I have no criticisms. It's an all-time...
