If I were able to leave this hotel a 1-star review- I would. We are currently staying at this hotel for a dog show weekend, upon returning from our day of showing (Friday may 6th,2022) we were met with a pet fee ( stated at desk as $20 per night per dog, stated on website as $20 per dog per week, legally- not allowed to charge due to the animals in question being task trained assistance animals). My friend has paid the pet fee as she was unaware it is against federal law to charge for service animals- since they are medical equipment
I went down to the lobby to clear things up and discuss this matter, I was told that because my service animals didn't accompany me into the lobby when I came to check in (roughly 2 minutes after a long drive Friday evening) that my animals were therefore not valid service animals. The man at the desk proceeded to say that "service animals accompany their handlers 24/7 otherwise they are not legitimate" which is incredibly untrue. My first service dog was assigned to me when I was 16, I'm a Neurodivergent individual with disorders that can cause me to become easily overstimulated, disoriented, and panicked- my service animals are task trained in pressure response (DPT), crowd navigation, exit location, compulsion interruption, and behavioral alert and response. I travel with my older service dog (the one I've had since I was 16) as well as my service dog who is currently working taking the place of my older boy- both are protected under federal law.
The pet fee isn't what bugged me as much as having the man at the front desk blatantly imply that I was lying about not only my need for a service animal- but the fact that my dogs are service animals, claiming they aren't simply because I didn't have them for 2 minutes when I was checking in- a task which I'm able to do unassisted by my service animals.
The police were called but unfortunately did not show, we will be calling again tomorrow (Saturday may 7th, 2022) as well as writing to corporate and filling a complaint through the ADA help department. To be a young disabled individual and be accused of lying about not only my disabilities but the legitimacy of my medical equipment is absolutely disgusting and something I will never get used to- nor should I or anyone else have to. My older service dog was trained through greyt hearts service dogs, my younger one has gone through owner training and advanced obedience training with task work
If you plan to stay here and utilize an assistance animal- do not be afraid to stand up for yourself. You deserve to be treated fairly.
To add to this regarding the room itself: the shower matt appears to have black mold on the underside, bath tub does not plug properly and drains as it fills, TV turns off when you try to control the volume, sheets had noticeable stains on them and floor also had noticeable blotching, hole in bathroom wall- definitely not living up to the "quality" in quality inn. Wouldve been much happier...
Read moreSpeaking as Diamond Elite Choice Member, this property is a total embarrassment to the chain. If this hotel represented the Choice brand, I would be ashamed to admit to being a Choice Privileges Member, let alone a Diamond Elite Member. ||Upon check-in on Monday July 16,2018 I had a reservation for King. I was given room 242. I went to the "annex" building to my room. It was in shambles. At first, I thought someone was still in the room as the bed was a wadded up mess. The garbage cans were all over-flowing with garbage. Every single towel, wash rag, and hand towel was filthy dirty and strewn all over the room floor. The comforter was in the corner wadded up and obviously discolored from some kind of "fluid" it was soaked in. And there was a distinct "stench" to the room. ||I immediately went back to the front desk to demand another room or a full refund. I was given room 243, RIGHT NEXT DOOR! At least room 243 appeared as if it had been cleaned, the bed was made up and there were unused towels on the rack. ||But the fun didn't stop there. As a Diamond Elite member I had requested a late checkout, which is ADVERTISED as a member perk. With a Do Not Disturb sign on the door, the knocking on the door by housekeeping began at 8:30am!! And continued through to 10:50am. Then the front desk "courtesy called" at 11am to ask if i was paying for another night as checkout is 11am SHARP??? ||I can tell when I am not welcome somewhere, and the Quality Inn in Franklin is definitely a place where you are not welcome. Apparently, rent the room for an hour, use your prostitute, and then get out of town. Frankly, I'm amazed that housekeeping could be bothered to knock on the door, because they obviously can't be bothered to clean a room!! ||I wouldn't let the government move known terrorists from Gitmo to this hotel, it would Cruel and Unusual Punishment. ||As an aside, the hotel, as yet, still hasn't confirmed that I even stayed there on the Official ChoiceHotels website, because THAT prevents me from leaving this review OFFICIALLY in the hands of the parent company. Smart move on the hotel's part. But I'll be calling the 800 line to complain about not getting my electronic receipt. Oh, did I mention that? No electronic receipt in my...
Read moreTricia was agreeable and lovely. My beef is with the owners and operators of the hotel.I was disappointed again. I called in July about reserving our next room and told the registrar that I was bringing three animals, two that are service dogs. I was told it would be marked on my reservation. Upon check in, my animals vested and with me in the lobby I was told that the Hotel only accommodates one service animal per room. Not per guest but per room. If I had had that information several months prior when I made my initial call I would not have booked the hotel. Again I argued it was not compliant with federal law regarding the American Disabilities Act. Service animals are medical equipment. You would not charge a guest extra fees to have their oxygen tank and their sleep apnea machine. This is very frustrating. Many people have tandem service dogs that work together to aid their handler. If you are disabled and have service animals, avoid this hotel. I have worked in hospitality for 13 years and I have managed everything from hotels to restaurants. Never have I come across such a policy as it is not in line with federal and state law. So if possible find another accommodation or seek very clear information on how you will be charged so you can budget accordingly.
On another note. The breakfast is hot and the staff is friendly but not keen to help you sort out errors. The rooms are clean enough and have been remodeled but fine touches aren’t there. The main switch to room 209 did not work. The outlet that fed the main light to the room didn’t work and was coming out of the wall. Recent shoe molding was installed but not painted and the purchasing sticker was still attached. It is touches like this that go a long way. But maybe the extra pet fees for my service animal will...
