Long story short: I showed up to pick up the car I reserved and it wasn’t there, ruining a big chunk of my vacation.
I would give 0 stars if that was an option. This was an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. My family was in from out of town visiting Disneyland, and we had planned on renting a car for a day to go to Universal. I walked 7 minutes from my hotel to Enterprise to pick up the car that i reserved. I came in, filled out paperwork, and was told it would be 25-30 minutes… ok, whatever. 30 minutes later, I’m taken out back to be shown that they have no cars available… at all. They tell me they’re going to get me in a car, don’t worry, they’re coming… only no car came.
At the end it was me and 2 other people left in the store: a lady just trying to get a car to drive home, and another who needed a car to drive her daughter to the airport after a cheerleading competition. All 3 of us were left in the dust.
The staff was nice, I guess, but after a while it became clear that they were just stalling until we gave up and left. They even offered to shuttle us to another location to get a car, but then said they couldn’t do that for sone reason… They gave us the runaround so long that they, and every other car rental place, was closed, so no chance of even trying to get a car somewhere else.
Now I’m left with some very expensive, but useless tickets to Universal all because I reserved a vehicle in good faith and Enterprise couldn’t deliver on the one and only thing their company does… this ruined a good portion of our vacation abd cost us a lot of money.
And ok, I get it, this is their business model: they overbook reservations to cover for cancellations and no-shows so their inventory and profits are maximized. However, this will always leave some people holding the grenade in the end. This practice is deceptive and should be illegal. At the very least it...
Read moreWe recently rented a car from this location. I reserved the car a month or so in advance . We received a call 2 days before saying the original location we booked at would not pick us up from the Howard Johnson . So I called this location on south harbor blvd to see if they could pick us up. The man I spoke to said they could and I confirmed the time with him the day before we wanted to be picked up . He assured me we would be picked up between 8:30 am - 9:00 am incase there was other pick ups that day . So the day of 9:00 am rolls around and no one in sight . So my husband try’s to call the location , after waiting on hold for 20 minutes someone finally answers the phone and says oh someone is on the way , will be there in 5 minutes . So by this time it’s 9;30. It’s getting close to 10:00 am and still no one . Tried calling the customer service number but they said to call the location , again wait on hold , said someone is coming had to pick up someone else after we were told 5 mins and already an hour late . By the time my husband was picked up it was after 10:30 . The entire point of us renting a car is we were driving to Sandiego to go to SeaWorld and had tickets for a dolphin encounter at a certain time . Them being late to pick us up ( 2 hours!! After many calls ) messed up our plans for the day after we had spent over $500 for SeaWorld . The best they could do is offer $50 off . I would not recommend this location if you have set plans and places to go , unreliable with pick ups . This location seems short staffed. They also did not have someone to drop my husband off and had to get him an Uber . Car was clean but again not reliable with pick ups, more compensation for our lost time would have been appreciated ....
Read moreI was referred to this company by Mercury insurance for a rental car. I explained to Andres the manager that I did not want to pay out of pocket but that I wanted to stay within the allotted rental allowance which is $30.00 per day. He explained to me that Mercury had not approved it yet- but that they would probably clear it the next day. To be fair he was quite friendly and quickly had me on my way with a vehicle. I had the car for two weeks. A week and a half after I returned the car he left me a message explaining that I was being charged $6.00 a day for the rental because the insurance did not cover the entire balance. When I called back to discuss it, he failed to return my call. I have called two days in a row and finally got a hold of him. He explained that he remembers checking me in and I reminded him that I had told him I did not want to pay any additional fees. I also explained that as the manager of Enterprise he should have forewarned me that this would not be possible. His response? “You can’t get much for $30 a day.” I might expect a response like that from a regular sales representative, but not from the store manager. Even so I explained that as a manager he knew that the price point would be different than what I had expected and that he should have been more upfront. He could have cared less. No apologizes… no concern regarding miscommunication. I then asked for the corporate number to file a compliant and he gave me a disconnected number. So many places to rent a car from- save yourself the trouble of any unexpected expenses and go anywhere...
