I wanted to take the time to share my particular experience because I definitely believe it’s worth sharing. Someone somehow at this hotel is compromising card info and using it to make fraudulent transactions after you check out. And to make it worse, hotel “management” doesn’t care or offer Any remorse which leads me to believe that they know this is happening and letting it ride, or they’re apart of it because management got defensive which is wild and sounded highly irritated with my claims as if she wanted me to let it go. Albeit, the room was exceptionally clean and I was able to have early check in, however, a couple of hours after I checked out or this hotel and made it back to my city, I got a weird text from my bank asking if I tried to add my card to Apple Pay. I thought this was weird specifically because the card it was asking about was on Apple pay already at that time. So, I logged into my bank app just to check everything as a precautionary, and i saw I was missing $189.39. Upon calling the bank, it was confirmed that someone used my card info to make a fraudulent purchase on Fashion Nova.com. Aside from that, they also attempted to add my card to Apple Pay so that they could continue to make fraudulent purchases through contactless methods the bank also confirmed that whoever did this would have needed to have my billing info and specifically my billing zip code in order to add it to Apple pay. This was the same card I used for check in/out and the card wasn’t used anymore that day. Also, the hotel has my billing info obviously, and the card was on me the entire time so I know it wasn’t a situation of it being left out and someone getting it that way.
Everything I’m sharing with you in this review is information that came from my bank and I made that evident when I contacted the hotel management and IHG. The lady who called me from the hotel was very strategic as to not tell me her name, stating she was “the general manager”. She was insanely rude. She never once apologized for me experiencing this. She never offered to look into it for me. Nothing. Basically told me, there’s no way that happened here as if I was making it up. That infuriated me more so I filed a separate complaint on the manager too as well as the complaint about someone compromising my card info and doing fraudulent transactions with it.
I’ve been speaking to IHG for two weeks and they’ve done nothing. Constant run around and nobody really trying to get to the bottom of it. I’ve been waiting to hear from IHG Corporate to determine if I wanted to keep it semi cute in this review but they didn’t help either. In fact, they told me that all they can do is reach out to hotel management about it and have them contact me and I told them that’s pointless since she already tried to tell me on the phone that it didn’t happen. They also encouraged filing a police report which has already been Done on my end. The lack of care and concern about this has turned me off from IHG properties because they won’t do much if something like this happens and that’s poor business practices.
be aware of what’s happening around this hotel. Like I said; this was hours after I checked out as if They were waiting for me to be fully gone before doing it. Again, I had to share my experience because it’s clear the hotel management nor IHG Corporate care about the patrons nor the safety And security of your information. I had to file a dispute and get a new card. However, it has Been two weeks and nobody has offered me not even a single apology.
So, if you stay here, I’d suggest locking your card for a few days after you check out. I’ve already filed a report but please, just use precaution because it happened so fast. I stayed at this hotel for literally one night and less than 8 hours later, they were making fraudulent purchases. They need new management here specifically and tighter security practices. Literally, just stay at the Medical Center Holiday Inn. My dad suggested I stay there and I didn’t, and now I’m dealing with fraud...
Read moreThe king suite was without a doubt the best accommodation we have ever had in Memphis, and we properly use the term "enjoyed" to characterize our stay. It was far from perfect, however. Some maintenance issues (missing light bulb, freezer door not closing) that we pointed out right away and tagged with post-it notes inside the room were never addressed as promised by front desk staff, although the post-it note was removed from the lamp. There is no sign that the maintenance person who allegedly comes on duty at 7am ever entered the room. You would think that Holiday Inn would stock light bulbs. If not, why remove a dead bulb and create the safety hazard of an empty socket? Other issues include the kitchen sink having been plumbed with hot and cold water reversed from the red/blue indication, potentially another safety issue. The worst was that the bathroom lavatory drain was either clogged or stuck partially closed. By the end of our stay, the lavatory had progressively become disgustingly filthy. The janitors could not clean it properly given that rinse water would not drain. Of course it was clean upon check-in, which means that it is possible to clean it, hence abbreviated cleaning measures were used during our stay. Other housekeeping anomalies included wild variation in the combination of daily bath linens provided. Starting with two towel/washcloth sets and a shared hand towel plus a bathmat, successive days saw omissions and additions. There was a missing bathmat, then the next day two bathmats but no hand towel. Every day there was a different combination, which seems very odd for a Holiday Inn. We had to visit the front desk to correct critical shortages, as they could not be reached by phone (always a busy signal). As for amenities, no written information or instructions are provided in the room, and it took half an hour of fiddling with the tv remote control, followed by a visit to the front desk to learn that the "cable service" was "out." The outage continued until the last day of our stay. Our advice is to plan to screen mirror your personal device. The restaurant inside the hotel was always closed. The pool was "closed for cleaning" for an entire day, even though a visit to the pool in early evening showed it looking clean and pristine, with no signs of cleaning or maintenance in progress. The next day the pool was open, but that was too late for us to enjoy it. Unlike other places we have stayed, a 30 minute call to IT was needed to enable wireless connectivity, and staff indicated that this happens to many guests. A final annoyance was that every time we got In the car, I smelled cigarette smoke and could not figure out where it was coming from. During our stay, Wally--who has lung cancer--kept asking me, for the first time in 16 years, to get him cigarettes. Finally I realized that there is a smoking bench unfortunately placed right next to the hotel's front entrance. In spite of numerous flaws, a four star rating reflects high value per dollar compared to our experiences elsewhere in Memphis. We would stay here again but would avail the offer to change rooms in order to get a working lavatory drain. If missing light bulbs turn out to be a feature of this property, we'll downgrade to three stars because that is just...
Read moreBooked through Expedia and thought we booked a different hotel. We ended up just keeping this one as it would be more of a hassle to change our reservation. Upon arrival, the girl at the front desk (night) was visibly on her cell phone discussing another reservation that was having issues. Stood there for about 15 minutes before being acknowledged. Once acknowledged, the check-in time was prompt. There was another male employee that arrived right before the younger female helped me out and the male must have been on break, a marijuana break, as the smell was extremely strong. Had to utilize the laundry which was OK and cheap. When walking back to our room, the Sherrifs dept. was at the room right next door to ours. We minded our business and went into our room and went to bed. The room overall, seemed very clean! I'm a hotel snob and only stay in hotels with all white bedding, which this one had. While in the shower, I noticed black, pink mold in the corner which can easily be taken care of with some bleach and scrubbing. The sink in the bathroom drained very slow, but not a big deal. We were there for a quick, one-night stay so the small inconveniences were tolerable. After getting our items together, getting ready to leave, I glanced over and on my husbands pillow, there was a bed bug!!! I'm a huge germ phobe, so this was not good! I thought it was dead. Upon arrival at the front desk to check out, I notified them and promptly the manager and I went back to the room so I could show her. She immediately called the housekeeping manager and another person whom was able to confirm the bug as a bed bug. Ugh! When we returned to the room, it was, infact, still alive as it was crawling back towards the headboard. They immediately shut the room and said they'll be calling extermination. When leaving, there were about 5 sheriff's squads that pulled up. Not sure what was going on, but the consistent presence of law enforcement could be a negative thing. About 10 minutes after we left, the manager called and said we have been reimbursed our stay and again, apologizing about the issue.
Moral of the story, myself and family are pretty grossed out by the bed bug incident and are trying to make the 15 hr. Drive home to avoid any other hotel stays. I know it's something you risk while staying at hotels, but it's a different feeling when it actually is confirmed.
I'm hoping we don't have any bites that show up later and our work back home to eradicate any potential transfer of the bed bugs is obsolete.
From now on, I will be packing all our items in plastic bags and taking only hard suit cases.
Thanks to the morning staff for promptly...
