The Travelodge by Wyndham in Great Fall’s is an absolute disaster. For your own sanity, stay as far away as you possible can. My family’s short visit there was so awful that it required us to insist on a full refund before we even left the front lobby; forcing us to immediately have to locate and leave to another hotel. Bad vibes and an uneasy feeling from the minute you walk in. The lack of customer service was horrific and puzzling. It really felt like they were messing with us on purpose. We have never had such a bad and odd experience with any other hotel throughout our lives. Avoid this place at all costs and read/believe the reviews from others. Others have had truly horrifying experiences here and I am only grateful that we left immediately/did not stay long enough to experience everything that others did.
We initially booked a joining room (beside my in laws) and a crib (for our young toddler) in advance. After travelling many hours from out of country, we arrived. The front lobby looked nothing like it did in the pictures and was under construction. The person in front of me at the check in counter was complaining that he just checked in and his room was dirty with someone else’s lunch still in the fridge. The front staff appeared unconcerned and the man had to push them to get the room cleaned. At the counter, there was a younger male staff doing the check ins with a younger female staff just sitting on a stool despite there being quite a line up. After we checked in, I was informed that our rooms were not joining and they had no cribs. I politely shared that we had only booked this hotel for these reasons. The front staff again seemed unconcerned and exhibited a blank stare saying nothing. I shared that we would then need a refund as we would not be able to stay there. I was told that there would be a cancellation fee despite them not honouring what was agreed to at the time of booking.
I asked to speak to the manager and it was like pulling teeth. I was first told there’s no manager at the hotel, after pushing some more I was then told there’s no manager on site, after pushing even further I was then told he could call the manager but he wouldn’t speak to me even if he did call and there wasn’t any point as the manager would just tell me the same thing. I insisted he call and let the manager know I wished to speak to him. After stepping to the side while waiting, I witness what looked like a drug deal outside the front doors. I contacted the customer care line through Wyndham (which is loosely affiliated with the hotel directly) who called the hotel. At this time, the staff were in the back room ignoring the lineup of people and did not answer the phone (I had to yell out to them that’s it’s the customer care line for them to finally pick up the phone). After the customer care line rep called a second time they were finally speaking with the manager who came out of the back room and never said a thing to me (but was obviously there the entire time). He tried to make some excuses over the phone for not offering a refund and I had to refute what he was saying. Finally with the help of the customer care rep (who luckily was exceptional) I was able to get a full refund, but at this point we were exhausted with our upset toddler and everyone just ready to relax with the long drive.
Later, I noticed a charge on by credit card from the hotel and called the customer care line back only to yelled at, refused to help better explain the complaint process and then hung up on me in front of my wife. I was later contacted by a different customer care rep who confirmed that the charge has...
Read moreI wish negative scores were possible. We are pretty easy to please with hotels - we aren't in the room often typically. This place was beyond the pale. Room had broken electrical plates with a plug in the outlet that.was hot and smelled hot. I showed a photo to the maintenance fella who said it was fine. The first day the elevator was being used all day by the hotel to take boxes of new furniture to various floors. Several times our cards wouldn't work, up and down we went by stairs to get them fixed...Asst Manager at front desk wasn't concerned about this inconvenience and suggested the cards were by something magnetic - all 3 cards held by 3 different folks...All this was minor compared to what occurred next. Our travelling party had 2 rooms. Our friend was in his room getting ready to shower and he heard a cursory knock - while he was going to answer it (in his underwear as it sounded urgent) said Asst Manager barged in and demanded he show proof he paid for his stay (this gent was the one who checked us in!) Once this was produced, Mr Manager left without an apology. Later that evening we needed cards recoded AGAIN. Fella refused to apologize for what he did and said it was protocol when the computer shows what was a glitch. No care in the world for customer being treated like a criminal. You have to ask to get your room serviced and have to be 2 nights minimum. We asked, and were told probably not as they were busy (did not get done). Then the next day our friend returned to his room and the key card didn't work again - he had to go down and get it recoded and when he got in his room there was other folks stuff in it! He went to the front desk and they had half his stuff in the office (the other half was in drawers still in hotel) they had rented out his room! No apologies! The SAME Asst Manager just said he wasn't the one that checked the other party in???!!! No compensation or any consideration. Our friend did get his room back by luck - the folks to whom it was rented walked into the hotel while our friend was at the front desk so werr given a different room. So many things wrong on so many levels. I also got bitten by what I am assuming was bed bugs on the last night, so didnt at all sleep well. Folks in hallways yelling, the whole place reeks of smoke. Just...
Read moreI've been staying here twice a year now since 2019 as I travel from Alberta to South Dakota. I have seen a definite decrease in the quality over this time. Last November 2022, after checking in around 11:30 pm, I noticed that the plate that mounts to the door frame that holds the lock secure had a missing screw and I had to tighten another one that was hanging on by a thread, literally. There was a clump of hair stuck to the floor between the bed and the night stand, which appeared to be stuck in dried, spilled pop or something. There was what appeared to be splattered ketchup (no, not blood) on the box spring of the other bed. My husband and I booked a room there this spring, when we travelled again to South Dakota; only because it was slim pickins' for hotels at a reasonable rate. We arrived around 9:30 pm to a lobby full of students from the FFA, as well as three gentleman, who had been waiting since 4 and 4:30 for their rooms to be cleaned. It was a gong show to say the least. Two of the three gentleman were finally given their room key, and when they went up to their room, they found that it was already occupied. When it was our turn, we were told that our room reservation had been cancelled earlier in the day, no explanation. I had booked it two weeks prior and had my confirmation email with me. The ginger-haired receptionist obviously hated his job and had given up caring a long time ago. I will NEVER book another room here again. We left that night, back on the road, and were welcomed at the lovely, clean and comfortable, Sundown Motel in Stanford, an hour away with a great little restaurant just up the road with staff that were actually happy to see us. This will be our new "Home away from home" overnight stop from now on. I wonder if those poor people that we left behind are...
