I just moved to the area I came here and had the most amazing time with a guy bartender.. he was awesome so awesome and i had so much fun i came back a week later and there was a female bartender heavy set … and i was having a rough week at home i am a mother to an 9 and 8 year old so i walk in sit at the bar and the female bar tender came over was kinda standoffish at first but i started talking about my day then was talking to a customer beside me she screams from the end of the bar like enough … then makes her way over to me screaming and telling she not going to serve me to get out and honestly I’ma bar tender in dc so i was like wait what? What did i do? …. She humiliated me in front of everyone and then went to get another girl in the back that had no idea what she did to me and she proceeded to not ask questions and to tell me to get out as well … i have never been kicked out of an establishment in my life… i had friends with me and a customer i didn’t even know who was sitting beside me and he was like whats her problem? And apologizes on behalf of the establishment because he witnessed it all …. I already had a bad day and she made my day so much worse she ruined my week … humiliated me and embarrassed me …. I will never go back … highly recommend they get new help …. I will never go to an establishment named carpool again in any state … she ruined my day week and it’s 2 months later and i still think about how awful she was soon i had to share …. Read moreStopped in here for happy hour with some friends on a Wednesday night.
It was pretty full of what looked like an office party, and pretty noisy. However, over time it quieted down as people left.
The Staff: Not exactly the most attentive, we had to go to the bar for everything. But, it was busy.
The Atmosphere: Loud. Then ok. Music was loud when we walked in, but it was turned down later. Someone was smoking inside or near inside so it smelled like smoke for about an hour of the two we were there. Well lit. Seating is not great. There are a few tables, but unless you sit at one of the massive tables then there is not really room for a 4-6 person group to have a nice talk with drinks. The room with couches was filled with people that glared at us when we walked in looking for a place to sit. The stools at the large tables are uncomfortable, and not level so it feels like you are about to fall off.
The Food/Drinks: Decent whiskey and coke, price was ok because of happy hour. The wings are good, but a lot more expensive than they should be. Same for the salad, good but not worth the price. Nothing to write home about.
Summary: Carpool is an OK place for a happy hour. Although that is about all you really want to stay unless you are there to play games (which I understand you have to pay for). The lack of quality seating and average food makes this place alright, but not great. This is the place you go to before you go to the party/nice bar/restaurant. Overall a...

Friends and I often visit Spider Kelly's for pool and a drink or two, but decided on Carpool last night because we wanted to avoid the crowd. It was definitely a good decision.
For a bar that has pool, pinball machines and other attractions, this place was especially clam and quiet, which is always a plus. Even though there is a jukebox, the volume was a manageable level to where we could have a conversation and still have fun with friends while enjoying some tunes.
Perhaps the biggest difference between this place and Spider Kelly's is that while both has a younger college crowd (GMU is close by), the ones going to Carpool do not appear to be frat boys and look like they have a future after graduation rather than moving back into's mom's basement.
The food was also delicious, and the drinks cheap and strong. I recommend the calamari. It was easily one of the best. I especially loved the bartenders who were very quick and friendly. If you're looking for a hole-in-the-wall kind of place for a night out with friends, this is just it. I will...
