UPDATED: After attending a Chamber Meeting for my company to join, I was persuaded to lower the rating on this hotel. I was highly alarmed to the behaviors of many of their employees. As ex-military, I do not do disrespect, rumors or hearsay. This is my personal account & I've come to appreciate many of the staff members especially Gabby and Evelyn, whom treat their guests warm-heartedly almost like family. My wife & kids love them. Also a few of the breakfast staff ladies I unfortunately forgot their names. They did a great job trying to convince us to have our 25th anniversary at this hotel. But many of our guests being military, I would not feel comfortable with some of their staff tending to my guests. But the reason why is after noticing the disrespect towards guests repeating & members not wanting to seem pity by reporting. Respect is everyone's right. I witnessed 2 separate occasions plus my own situation with 2 of their younger employees. A young female staff member seems always bothered, ignores you so you're unaware if she heard you & if you remind her or repeat the question, she gets upset & begins shouting at you. Walking off, loudly stating to another staff member a tall young man that, our group was bugging her & how she was tired of working it. The other staff member, is the tall young man who seems to be lost & forgetful. I ask 5 times for a spoon & all 5 times he said, Oh yeah. Those 2 are consistently huddled up together, you really can't ask them anything without knowing if you're going to get yelled at or ignored. I'm all for giving our young adults a chance but a job is a privilege. Most of us go directly to Evelyn for whatever is missing or if we need clarity on a matter. Or she is the only one walking around asking if we need anything, getting things, asking how are we doing?, etc. I thank Gabby for the wonderful breakfast. My family recently stayed at this hotel after it was recommended to me by a Chamber Member. I'm very 50/50 on this hotel. Rooms were great 👍 Staff was great 👍 Lobby was great 👍 Location is great 👍 Unfortunately Service was lacking. The Server working the restaurant was running very very behind. I had to wait almost an hour for my food. To refill my drink, I had to wait about 20 mins due to there only being 1 person and he was running around from the front to back constantly. Poor guy, my wife thought it look like he couldn't breathe at one point. Other guests were getting fed up with waiting or orders getting mixed up. Also I was highly disappointed that I was recommended to try the Burgers but I couldn't order it. The limited menu wasn't Dinner friendly so we went to Texas Roadhouse. The following nights, were better with the 2 female servers. They both were very friendly & Funny. One kindly recommend the Pizza for kids, that her grandkids love it. She was right, my kids loved it. Another issue is the pool and poolside. Both Pools were dirty in different ways. Although I appreciate the handicap accommodations at the inside pool. The bottom of the pool was extremely dirty. As for the outside pool, a quick net would have cleared up all of the debris, bugs, & leaves on the surface. Also the outside furniture was dusty, faded, and torn in various spots. For a Desert location, I felt the poolside would've been the highlighted feature. I mentioned it to the front desk but it never got cleared. As I stated, I should be giving a 3 star but thank your staff for the 4th star. I would still recommend the hotel but...
Read moreThis Courtyard by Marriott is located right off the freeway in Hesperia. It is a very busy Marriott location. Apparently it is a halfway spot between LA and Las Vegas. Many people trying to make it to Las Vegas in one drive are caught off guard with fatigue so they stop at the last minute for a room. There are a couple of good things about this. One thing is 24-hour Starbucks in the hotel and the second thing is there's actually a Marriott there. There are some restaurants in the town with some being located close by but there's something to be said for the convenience of being able to get breakfast and snacks 24 hours during your stay at the hotel. I've not found that to be the case in most smaller towns along the highway. There are some downsides to these smaller town hotels though. Sometimes they know they are your only option so they can charge you full prices for breakfast and that they do not have to provide you with the best quality of bedding and beds. We have been on a several-day long 1500 mile trip and this was the worst bed so far. Spring mattress nightmare. And this is not just because I sleep on a Casper mattress at home because I I slept in a pretty crappy hotel in Arizona and I plan to sleep in a 1950s roadside Motel in 29 Palms that I've slept in before and I know the bed is better in that hotel. This hotel does not have carpet it has a vinyl flooring and that can be either a plus or a negative. Vinyl flooring is easier to keep clean in a hotel so if to cleanliness this place is for you. However vinyl flooring can be loud so if you're staying with someone in the room and they get up in the night and you're a light sleeper you're going to be disturbed. Something else that might bother you is if you don't like helicopters. Because their air conditioners sound like helicopters. It's not a loud helicopter. It's just a faint buzzing like a far away helicopter all night long. And the air conditioner is one of those air conditioning units that doesn't have the option to stay fan running all the time. It's a condenser that goes on and off and on and off and that helicopter noise goes on and off and on and off. So every time it gets to the temperature that you want it gies off. Now they do say they have 24-hour Bistro and 24-hour Starbucks. However, on the Sunday morning when we got up and rushed down the elevator to get there - no Starbucks and no Bistro. So it's kind of hard to call it 24 hours when they're not open. I try hard to be fair in my reviews but I cannot give this hotel any higher than...
Read moreWhen I made the reservations, directly with the hotel, I let jthem know that we were there to attend a funeral. There would be my husband, myself, and our 16 year old grandson. I asked for a “pleasant” room with 1 king bed and a pullout. We arrived and checked in. We were given room 330. The room was OUTRAGEOUSLY small. We made the pullout and after checking the room for extra pillows, we had to go to the front desk for extra pillows and towels. We were questioned at the front desk if we searched the room thoroughly for pillows. We assured the front desk person that we had searched. We tried to sleep however the air conditioner was very loud with strange squeaking and whistling noises. We all had trouble falling asleep. We awoke and opened the drapes. The windows were so dirty and had bird droppings running down them in 4 different places! We also looked out at trash and junk. So, not such a nice view. We were ready to go to the Starbucks in the lobby at 10:00AM. The Starbucks was so dark and dangerous. We asked for muffins or any type of sweet bread. We were told that muffins were only available until 9:30Am! The person (who we could hardly see) told us that the front desk should have told us that at check in. We were not told that. We left the hotel at 11:00AM. When we returned at 11:00PM, our room was dirty. NOTHING WAS DONE. I called the front desk and told them that our room was not serviced. She asked me if I requested service. I told her I was not told that I had to request service. Her answer was, “Well due to CoVid, we can’t send in housekeepers without a request!” I asked if a housekeeper could come up now. I was told there were no housekeepers at night. I asked for clean towels and was told there were none until morning. I told her this was absolutely unacceptable and we would be checking out. We packed and drove 2 hours to get home! We were exhausted but it was better than staying one more night in this hotel. I’m a Registered Nurse for 30+ years and have been working in an Acute Care Hospital since this pandemic hit. Even though this was a sad occasion, we were looking forward to getting away for the weekend, seeing family, and returning to a little bit of normalcy. Your hotel made us feel uncomfortable and neglected. Your employees need classes in “Service Recovery” situations. If I treated a patient or family member the way we were treated, I would lose my job! Yes! Even in this pandemic! It’s time to...
