Spring Sweet — Local services in Holland

Many people rate places based on their perfect experiences, but I prefer to rate Spring Sweet on the superb job they did when things did not go perfectly to plan. The test of a great shop is in its ability to handle difficult situations seamlessly as it is inevitable that difficulties will arise.

During my freshman year at Hope College, I wanted to try on a wedding dress for the fun of it, saying that I would marry my then best guy friend and now fiancé. Three years later, and I came to Spring Sweet after having purchased a dress from David's Bridal that I was not happy with. The bridal consultant, Leah, was extremely helpful and kind to my mom and I. She understood my situation and helped us to pick out dresses that would be able to arrive in time. I found my perfect dress finally and we sent in my measurements to the designer. When I went to go try the dress on when it came in, it was a bit tight; another issue was the length, it was too short.

Many bridal shops would give excuses for the inaccuracy of the fit and length, but Spring Sweet did just the opposite. They immediately jumped in to action and assured me that no matter what, I would have my dress in time for the big day, and it would be long enough. As a girl who is 6'2", it is a difficult time shopping for clothes as it is, a wedding dress is even harder.

Spring and her team contacted me the next day after speaking with the designer of the dress. They told me that they were able to rectify the situation and lengthen the dress by steaming the fabric. I was able to keep my alterations appointment for the fit of the dress and I felt much more confident in my choice. Spring even offered to pay for the alterations needed, something that makes this shop very unique.

Everyone at Spring Sweet was kind and understanding and made my second attempt at finding my dress extremely enjoyable. I am so thankful for how Spring herself handled my situation, she made me feel valued as a customer and bride. Love my dress! Friendly staff, but they completely took the whole "bridal experience" away from me and that was the last thing I needed during covid-19 planning of a wedding. Planning a wedding during this pandemic has been HORRIBLE. All I wanted was a little extra special experience to make me feel like I should during my bridal appointment, but sadly I felt rushed, not important, and the last of their worries. They told me 3 separate times that they were closing their store down below the bridal salon and my maid of honor was running 10 minutes late, but the appointment is 30 minutes long so I thought no big deal. They kept emphasizing about how they were closed for their store below even though bridal appointments lasted until 8 PM - there was nobody after me and my appointment was from 6 to 6:30, which I left the store before my whole appointment was over - did not even utilize the whole 30 minutes to try on my dress for the first time, add a veil, show my guests, get out of the dress, and pay my remaining balance. They were constantly saying how they were closed even after I gave them my maid of honors name for when she came to the door to be let in. If you have appointments up until 8 PM why am I being rushed out the door and feeling like I am an inconvenience for being there in the first place even though I am paying $1500 for my dress AND your appointments go up until 8PM...when my friends get married I believe that you can love your dress and still have an amazing experience....the only thing that went my way was the way my dress looked. The experience was the worst and I would not recommend going back or would I bring any friends back here. My soon to be mother-in-law, maid of honor and bridesmaid 100% agreed. I had my very first dress appointment at Spring Sweet. I was very nervous but immediately after walking in I was so excited as everyone was so welcoming and nice! The girl at the front desk was so kind and let me know that she was so excited for me to be there. When it was time for my appointment, I was greeted by Leah who is absolutely amazing. I got to pick out several dresses to try on and she picked a few out for me too. During the appointment she never rushed me, never made me try on anything I didn’t like, and she didn’t pressure me to purchase that same day. I could not have asked for a better first time experience. I had 2 appointments booked with other dress shops that same weekend but none compare to Spring Sweet. I ended up going back the next day to purchase my dream dress that I found at Spring Sweet. Leah made it so special and memorable. I was driving from almost 2 hours away and she let me know that she would stay after hours for me so I could come in and get my dress. She easily could have rushed me & made me feel like an inconvenience but she did not. She let me take all the time I needed to try on my dress again and show it to all my friends and family. When I said yes to the dress Leah brought out the champagne and let my girls and I spend more time together enjoying the moment and she took lots of pictures of us. After the celebration she went over the measurements and payments with me very thoroughly.
