Dirty, Dated, Disgusting.
Our first room was really dated so without spending any time in it I asked for a new room. The Girl at the desk was nice enough to get us a new room which was still dated but a little nicer than the first room so we moved in there and went out for the evening. When I turned down the bed later that evening I noticed that the sheets were covered in dog and pubic hair. Being as late as it was we could not just pack up and find a new place to stay so I explained the situation to the girl at the desk who gave me a key to room number three. Luckily I had some sleeping bags in the car, so I stripped the blanket and slept in the bags.
When I woke up in the morning I noticed that the shower mat was full of holes, there was mud covering the entire tub, there was brown splashback on the toilet seat. The furniture was beat up and mismatched as was every hanger in the closet. The rugs in all the rooms can only be described as outdoor carpeting with no padding. Outside the bedroom door there was what I can only describe as a stain from some dogs' pee that was never cleaned up.
I had three nights planned for this vacation at this hotel, so I explained that we could not stay in this hotel again and I would like a full refund due to the deplorable conditions.
Initially they said they would reimburse us for the remaining two nights until I showed them pictures of all the issues we encountered. Instead of looking at the experience as feedback and ways to improve the stay for future guests. The manager then decided that she was going to charge us the full amount "all three days".
we now have to dispute the charges on our credit card bill.
Lesson learned here is: When someone charges you for your entire stay at check-in this should be a flag of of what your experience will be like. Not to mention adding on an "electric charge"; Shouldn't that be included in the cost...
Read moreMy wife and I came in for 3 nights and were told the rooms shown on their website were 'typical'. A true statement would have been 'typical for the only room that looked like it!' Truly the pictures do not tell the real story.
The lobby and bar all looked pretty nice when you walk in and we were hopeful we found a cool place to hang out for 3 nights but the 'typical' room we got was plain white, old..I mean old in needing a face lift, the shower was only about 2 feet by 2 feet, and you needed to keep your elbows in while you washed or you'd hit the water faucets and either freeze your nuts or scald them depending on how you hit the taps.
You pay extra for electricity, there is no refunds, wine is $8/glass and its the $8/gal quality. We never had a meal there so we cannot say if the food is good or not.
It was close to the historic area of town but the Motel 6 at the other end of town would have been nicer. Parking is free all over town so just park at a central location and walk...no big deal. If you want 'Historic' stay at the Arlington. Nice bar and lobby but a lot of older folks stay there so you probably won't find a dance club or music you like if you are...say...younger..ish.
As far as 'personal service' well I think they should be up front and tell you they are going to nick you for another $10 per day for 'electricity' before you book your room. When you are checking in and after they took your money with no refunds, what choice do you have but suck it...
Read moreI stayed here in June 2016. I absolutely love this place. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Coffee was provided downstairs and was brewed when I came down each morning . The entrance to the downtown portion of the park is directly across the street. Beautiful. This is an older hotel. Times were different in 1929. I like the charm and character of Park Hotel. I appreciate the endeavors of the employees and owner to maintain and preserve this beautiful timepiece at a reasonable rate. Things to know before you go. The rooms have window unit AC. They work well but are not central air. When this place was built there was no AC so count your lucky stars and be happy. Walls are a bit thin but the ac serves as a buffer. Bring a hair dryer. If you need a refrigerator or microwave, just ask for the staff to refrigerate or microwave an item. Do not be picky or do something obtrusive like ask them to store your case of beer. There are several good restaurants nearby. The hotel restaurant was being remodeled when I was there .This is a friendly, comfortable, practical place. If you want to pay quite alot more for less character, a hairdryer, central air, elevators that never creek , frozen reheated free breakfast and posh, please do so. Go somewhere else . All the happy people at Park Hotel will be happier both...
