In the past, we've always enjoyed the food and beers at Superior. We look forward to it, as it's just a short walk from the Arlington Hotel where we stay. Based on previous good experiences, I'm going with three stars instead of the one star experiences we had on our last two visits this past weekend. It appears that the order/service process for the patio has changed. In the past, the patio bar had two lines; one for food and drinks and one for just drinks, with a big menu board describing the beers on hand. We'd order at the counter, start a tab and then go find a table. Easy peasy. Now, it's changed and not for the better. My wife and I tried to visit on Saturday. When we got to the counter area, there were no more lines, no menu board and nobody to explain the new process. The folks behind the counter that were pulling beers seemed to purposely avoid eye contact and we had to work to get their attention, even though at the time we were the only customers in the counter area. While we were trying to figure it out, I noticed several trays of food orders were stacking up on the bar, waiting for a runner. I watched a hot chicken sandwich go cold while it too was ignored. Finally somebody told us to find a seat outside and a server would be with us shortly. We did find a seat. But, after nearly 30 minutes of waiting, we left. No server visited our table. Granted, it was a beautiful day and the patio was busy. Ok, fair enough. We just walked over to the Ohio Club and enjoyed excellent service, right away. The next day, Sunday, we decided surely things would be different at Superior. When we arrived, we were glad to see plenty of empty tables on the patio. We grabbed menus and took our seat at the table. A server, looking stressed, stopped by long enough to tell us she'd get to us when she could. That time never came. Again, we waited and waited. We watched as other tables that arrived after us got served. There seemed to be nobody in charge, directing flow. Again, the patio was only half full. Numerous other couples and tables experienced the same thing, and we watched them all leave without ever being served. Our second visit ended like the first, only this time we just went back to the hotel and enjoyed food and drinks on their awesome patio. I hope Superior can get these issues solved, as we have enjoyed their service previously and hope to again in...
Read moreWhile the food was excellent and the bar staff was wonderful, the rest of the experience left something to be desired. The hostess was totally incompetent. We signed in with the hostess around 7:15 and were told around 45 minutes for a wait for indoor seating. Even with thunderstorms rolling in we sat outside with our dog and ordered drinks and an app as we waited. We stuck it out as long as possible but were told we needed to move inside and that there was bar space upstairs. We were grateful to the amazing bar staff who told us where the elevator was, and even though we were told by the hostess that we couldn't use the elevator(which is not true), met us upstairs to make sure we had a table and didn't need anything else. We continued to sit and play games. We were enjoying our time, but realized it was now 8:20 and had not received a text to be seated. Our middle child went down to check on our spot in line and came back to report that we had been texted and when we didn't respond within 20 minutes we were taken off the list. What a disaster. No text was ever received. It was now almost 8:30. The hostess said she would have out seat ready shortly. 🤦♀️ We came downstairs and sat down finally around 8:35. This place closes at 9. Absurd! The server had an attitude in the beginning, probably because the incompetent hostess didn't inform him that she screwed up and we had been there for over an hr before getting seated. Plus we waited another 15 minutes before our server even came to our table. I know this ticks off the waitstaff and kitchen staff, to have a table sat so late. I probably wouldn't be irritated if there had been an apology. Nothing! Not even a "sorry for the miscommunication." Do better! Get it together. While this wasn't the original hostesses fault, the turnover should have been better. We did however get dinner and a show with the 3 cop cars that showed up at the bar...
Read moreWe had an off night I believe but the managements response is what makes me rate it so low. The outside patio is great. Our children played football on the lawn. We had a couple of flights while we waited on a table inside. We were told we had a 30 min wait. After an hour we were seated only to find out they were out of fries. We had 7 starving children with us and they handled that well and decided on Mac and cheese. After waiting another hour, they brought our food which was pretty much just tenders) and said they were out of Mac and cheese but offered salads or tomato bisque to them ( children). I asked if they had any chips and they thought they did. The two adult tender plates never received any kind of replacement for their side. My sons chicken tender plate didn’t come and I had to ask for it. When they finally brought it, it was slightly burned. My wife’s steak Sandwich didn’t have the onions and my son’s pizza didn’t have the bacon. They did bring those out after we asked. My friend had the win place show farmhouse ale and its description includes a little bit of barnyard funk. With that description he should have stayed clear. I did not enjoy that. The space ipa was good. I was not real impressed with the others we tried. We had a good time and prices are good. I think they had been slammed, but when my friend asked for a discount because of multiple issues, the manager sent word through the waitstaff that they had offered other options, so there was no need to discount. I saw the manager walk right past our table. It is just poor business to me to not listen. I don’t really care about the discount. We just had multiple things go wrong and got a half sorry. Not impressed with the way it is run. Great...
