This hotel has potential. The room I was in 416 was in great shape. AC worked well. It smelled good when i walked in. There was a lot of space for me and all my equipment. The floors were clean and the bathroom was also clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've seen in a hotel. The entire hotel was in pretty good shape as far as i could tell. Receipt for the conference room that looked and smelled like it flooded. That being said, there are a couple of things that are keeping this place from a five star review. The room safe was broken. They didn't put any towels in my room either. When i arrived at the hotel and checked in there were no luggage carts. I asked the two girls at the front desk if they had a cart and they told me no that i would have to go floor to floor looking for the carts. So i walked on each floor asking for whoever was keeping the cart in their room to please give it up so others could use it. After I got all my things to my room one miraculously appeared. It was the only time I saw a cart in my three day stay. I arrived at 3pm and they didn't have the rooms cleaned. I had to wait for them to get finished. I have early check in as a perk for my IHG account which I haven't been able to use yet because the hotels I've been to so far have some reason they can't allow early check in. The two black girls that work the front desk were not helpful at all. They made me go find a cart which I couldn't. They were acting like they came straight out of the ghetto. I was instantly worried about what kind of people they associate with. Are they gonna get someone to rob me, or go into my room when I'm not here? These things do happen btw. I'm not completely familiar with the Houston area, but any hotel that has to keep their front doors locked between the hours of 12am - 5am has to be in a bad neighborhood. If i would have known this i would have stayed somewhere else because as soon as i noticed these signs i immediately started worrying about my vehicle being parked in the parking lot. Security guard in the parking lot or not. I was full of worry while staying here. Needless to say I won't be staying here again unless they do something about the employees and management. I will not recommend this hotel nor will i book any other company employees here. They don't need to worry. They need to be focused on work.

My family and I booked 2 rooms for Saturday, July 27th. We called ahead of time to inquire about early check-in and were told that we could check in at 1:00pm. When we arrived shortly after 1pm we were told that there were no clean rooms available. We patiently waited in the lobby and periodically checked with the desk to see if any rooms had been cleaned. As the 3:00 normal check-in time arrived, we were still told there were no rooms available. There was some discussion between the day shift and evening staff as they switched shifts because no rooms were clean for check-in. Then the housekeeping staff joined the conversation. The head of housekeeping exchanged words with the desk and said that all of the rooms were clean even though the system didn’t show any clean rooms available. The gentleman then stated that he would just start issuing the dirty rooms. I received room key, went to my assigned room and the room was dirty. I then went back to the front desk and he assigned me another room that appeared to be clean but did not have a working tv. Maintenance was sent to work on the tv, he left out of the room for a part and never came back. Fast forward to Sunday morning. We went to the front desk to reserve the airport shuttle and was told that we would be transported to the airport at 6am. It was 6:10 and the driver had not arrived. The front desk clerk said give him a few more minutes he was likely just running behind. At 6:15 I asked her could she call the driver. She made a call and then came back to the desk and said that the driver would be another 20 minutes. Needless to say we had to call and pay for 2 Uber trucks so that we wouldn’t miss our flight. This was my worst experience staying at an IHG hotel.

DO NOT COME UNLESS YOU HAVE AN EXTRA $600-$800 TO SPARE! (Update: They have roaches, along with old borax powder in the room) At first glance, this property is at least three stars. However, if you are familiar with IHG properties & their standards, they don't meet the mark. Night Audit has no idea what they are doing. They pre-autherized for $430 on the 15th(as they should). When we woke up on the 17th, our final bill of $326 had been charged to our card(very unusual to do the final hard charge 2 days b4 checkout). THEN, upon waking up on the 18th, we were charged another $212. Of course, the front desk keeps saying, "It'll fall off" but I work in a hotel as well and more than two transactions on a card is always a mess up on an agents part. Now, they've tied up over $600 of our vacation funds meant for activities. The rooms also suck purely because of the ac controls. You only have ac on, ac off, or the heater. Their is no temp control & the Temps showing on the panel are false and never change. The room gets significantly colder than the fridge, for example. Their breakfast is okay, but again not up to the IHG standards. You can tell this 100% a franchise that is kind of just floating by on the IHG name & location. If you have to stay here, lock your card & bring your own items to help regulate a comfortable body temp. (Changed the 2 stars to 1 because they've ruined my vacation on the first update, but due to finding roaches & what is obviously old borax powder on the baseboards i wish i could give -3 stars)

First, the positive.

  1. The evening front desk staff when I checked in on Sunday evening were outstanding. Went out of their way to help.

  2. Again, on Monday evening, the evening front desk staff came through. They offered to change my room so I could get a w--fi signal that actually worked. They set me up in 4 different rooms before I found one that worked. It worked but worked poorly. Better than my 1st room because I did NOT work in that room.

Next, the negative.

  1. As mentioned above, the wi-fi in my first room did NOT work. I tried to phone the front desk to ask what was going on, but the room phone did not work. I called the front desk on my personal cell and told the woman what was happening and told her about the room phone. Her response, well the wi-fi is working fine down here and I'll send someone up to check your phone. I responded that I didn't really care whether or not she had good wi-fi, I didn't. She also never sent anyone up to check on the phone. After checking it myself, I realized that there was no phone line connected to the phone. It wasn't unplugged, it was missing.

  2. The desk lamp in the first room had a light burned out.

  3. The water pressure in the first room was terrible, a bit above a trickle.

  4. On Tuesday morning, I decided to take my laptop and walk around the hotel and see if I could find a good strong wi-fi signal. I noticed right away as I walked toward my room door, the signal got stronger. When I went into the hall, the signal was full strength. I walked up and down all floors and the signal in the hallways was always strong. Went back in my room and again saw the signal deteriorate as I approached the desk area. I then set up my computer on the little breakfast table and got a decent signal, it was closer to the door into the hallway. But, the table was so small that I had no work space for papers, etc. I pulled the other chair around and used the seat of the chair as my work space.

  5. At breakfast the first morning, I noticed no biscuits and gravy. I asked about it and was told that they weren't serving that yet. Biscuits and gravy is the only reason I stay at Holiday Inn Express. Every morning, we had pork sausage, which was good. NOTE, sausage comes from hogs, it does NOT come from turkeys. The omelet offered was egg whites and veggies. No cheese or anything else, totally tasteless. The second day, there were no cinnamon rolls. I went over to the front desk and asked where the breakfast person was. Turned out she was in the office gabbing. I asked if she would bring out some more cinnamon rolls. She did, straight from the refrigerator, cold and no microwave there to warm them up. On Thursday morning, again same tasteless omelet and no cinnamon rolls. I was told they were out. And again, no cinnamon rolls on Friday morning.

  6. The lamp in my new room by the couch was broken.

Conclusion, this hotel needs a manager. They certainly do NOT have...

VERY BAD , My family and I stay in this hotel everytime we come to Houston this is our fourth time but this will definitely we our last time staying here we reserved ours rooms two weeks before but we got a call the night before our stay saying that they didn’t ‘’have’’ the rooms that we reserved two weeks before and paid the fee for , told me to wait on the phone and the lady hung up leaving me worried about having no rooms , I called back and she ended up saying she did have them but was very complicated, when we reserved our rooms we told the guy that we were going to be getting at the hotel pretty late and he said it’s fine and that he’ll put it as a late check inn , we arrived here and the same lady that I talked on the phone with told me that our rooms weren’t ready because we ‘’came late’’ and again she said she didn’t have the rooms we asked for . Took about an hour to get our rooms and when we finally got them one of the rooms was very dirty and she didn’t wanted to change the room she just said that they’ll clean it in the morning. The next night we got one of our cars broken in they stole parts of the car that are very expensive again they said there was nothing they can do about it they only showed us the cameras and this has happened before at this hotel multiple times and they haven’t done anything about it , we still had three nights left to go but we definitely didn’t feel secured/safe staying here for the rest of the nights we had no other choice though. Very dangerous area to stay in . Bad cleaning service , the housekeepers threw some of our stuff away . Our key cards kept getting locked . Overall this was a terrible experience, as a guest for over 4 years it should’ve been better . Don’t recommend this hotel at all if you do stay here expect your car to be broken into and get...
