The Furniture Bank is more than just a nonprofit, it’s a beacon of hope for our community. With over 300,000 children in the Houston area going to sleep without a bed, the work this team does is nothing short of life-changing. Under the visionary leadership of Executive Director Oli Mohammed and an inspiring board of luminaries, the Furniture Bank is turning empty houses into homes, one bed, one couch, one table at a time.
Their Furniture Assistance Program is a powerful tool for dignity and stability, helping families rebuild after hardship. The D.I.V.A.S. Program goes even further by creating warm, healing spaces that encourage families to keep moving forward. Their Mattress Recycling Center is one-of-a-kind, diverting tons of waste from landfills while restoring usable items for those in need. And through their Second Chance Program, they’re offering new beginnings to individuals looking to re-enter the workforce with purpose and pride.
Let’s not forget the Retail Outlet Team! They’re incredible. Hardworking, kind, and always ready to help, they serve customers with grace and dedication. Whether you’re donating furniture (they even offer pickup and delivery!) or shopping for a great deal, the process is easy and efficient.
You never know what treasures you’ll find at the Furniture Bank, but what I found was something even greater: a family. A mission. A reminder that we all have a role to play in helping our neighbors dream again. The Furniture Bank is a Houston gem, and I’m endlessly grateful...
Read moreApril 22, 2025, I have never witnessed a charity that charges pick up for like new, donated furniture, items. They quoted me a charge of $130 simply to donate like new furniture and a new 65 inch TV to them, baffling!!! This place appears to be disorganized and dysfunctional.
Also, their customer service is horrible. I’ve been trying to donate but their lack of communication is baffling. I’m a retired veteran & senior, simply trying to help those in need. This place never returned my call. They only replied with a text as if some high school kid is running the show! The response times are ridiculous. If you have questions which I did, no one is there to answer. I have a brand new 65 inch TV that I was going to donate along with some bedroom furniture, but no one is communicating with me. I’ll likely call junk pick up and toss really nice items because I’m moving out of state and no longer have time for these people to function like a competent business or adults.
Bit of advise, try picking up the phone to thank those that are taking time out of there busy schedules to donate to your so called charity. That’s a fundamental of professionalism and customer service.
Customer service should be a priority and it’s clearly not. Looking at some of the other reviews I don’t see how this place is still...
Read moreWhile the people that pick up the furniture are friendly and helpful, (and are grateful because the furniture donations go to a great cause), I can’t say as much for the back office. It took me almost a week to connect with someone to make an appointment for pickup. (Emails and texts to the prescribed addresses were never returned.). I was told my pickup would be between 10-3 and that day I would get 30 minutes notice. By 3 that day, (I had been waiting for 5 hours), I had received no contact. Finally getting hold of someone, they diverted a truck to my location, arriving around 4. Since all of the furniture (they knew in advance it was a large furniture donation) wouldn’t fit in the truck, the driver said another one would be following shortly. By 6pm no one showed. I had to call the next day and insist that I would not accept a late day pick up. (If they haven’t finished pickup by quitting time, they roll that pick up to the next day.). I am glad the furniture has been donated to a worthwhile organization, but I suggest that if the really want donations, they need to make the...
