ZERO STARS. This was, by far, the WORST "hotel" that I have ever had the displeasure of spending my money on. The beds were decently comfortable, but that is just about the only thing that wasn’t terrible. Check-in: There was no early check-in option; we had to wait until exactly 3 pm because "housekeeping is still cleaning." However, our rooms were still dirty upon arrival. There were several stains, some resembling old, dried blood and others like spilled coffee. Crumbs on the floor, hair in the bathrooms and on the beds, and obvious years of dust around the air conditioning units. Front Desk: There was no working printer or copy machine, and the deposit "agreement" was handwritten with a permanent marker. When we asked for a copy, the disheveled front desk employee said that we could take a picture. My husband made him write a second one. Getting the deposit back went surprisingly smooth, though. Amenities: Both rooms had no extra toilet paper, and the rolls present had been used. One room had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash but no hand soap, while the other had hand soap and a broken lotion dispenser with no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. When we called about hand soap, we were told housekeeping would bring it, but they never did. Room Issues: One room's telephone didn’t work, and the terrible front desk employee told me I had to get towels myself since he couldn’t leave the front desk. The room carpets were dirty, and the outside carpeting was filthy as well. The in-room coffee machines had no cups, ice bucket, or actual coffee. Most of the plugs were loose or simply didn’t work. Most of the linens were stained with unknown substances. Other Problems: We were told there were no available adjoining rooms, yet one of our rooms had a door to the neighboring room that I never saw anyone use. There was a roach sighting, which landed on my husband’s sandwich. A guest had warned us about them during check-in. The cable was supposedly out due to a recent storm, but the WiFi worked. We brought our own streaming devices to try and enjoy some part of the stay. Employee Conduct: The employees were unprofessional, unprepared, unhelpful, and unwelcoming. Facilities: Only one elevator worked. The "continental breakfast" was waffles and cereal. Our keys deactivated several times over our two-day stay. Shuttle Service: The "complimentary airport shuttle" was just a Lyft the hotel calls. I confirmed the complimentary service before arrival, but it was not as expected. They told me to write my phone number on a sticky note - when my husband went down later to remind them that we had six people and nine pieces of luggage, they said they couldn’t confirm that the Lyft would be big enough and only management could order it. We had to order and pay for our own Lyfts. I’ve stayed at many cheap hotels, and at the very least, the employees were decent. Good customer service can go a long way and can be helpful in situations like this, but we didn’t even get that. This stay was mediocre at best. Read the reviews. Don’t stay here. Motel 6 is less disappointing.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS: Sonesta Essentials Hobby Airport - A Horror Story This review is not merely a disappointment; it's a warning. My recent stay at the Sonesta Essentials Hobby Airport from February 28th to March 2nd was nothing short of a nightmare and a colossal waste of money. From the moment I arrived, the experience was riddled with issues that made me question if this was even a functioning hotel. Firstly, the basic function of identifying the hotel was a challenge. There was NO signage indicating the name of the hotel on the building or the door. I relied solely on Google Maps to confirm I was even in the right location – a truly unsettling start. The interior was even worse. The room was disgusting. Stains marred every surface – the walls, furniture, bed, and carpet all bore evidence of neglect and abuse. The pervasive odor was a nauseating cocktail of mold, mildew, and an unsettling undertone of what I suspect was urine and vomit. This wasn't just unclean; it was a health hazard. But the problems didn't stop there. Shortly after begrudgingly settling in, we discovered cockroaches crawling throughout the room. To add insult to injury, we were informed that the entire building was experiencing a complete water outage due to a burst pipe. This meant no showering, no brushing teeth, no handwashing, and no functioning toilets! The hallways were soaked, with industrial fans blasting, adding to the chaos and discomfort. One of the primary reasons for choosing this hotel was the advertised indoor pool. However, the pool was not only out of commission but appeared to be in a shockingly degraded state. Another amenity promised and another disappointment delivered. The intermittent water access on the second day was barely an improvement. When water did trickle through, it was freezing cold, rendering showers impossible. At least we could flush the toilet, but the experience remained utterly unacceptable. The most egregious offense was the non-refundable room policy, despite the utterly uninhabitable conditions. This felt like a blatant exploitation of customers and a complete disregard for basic hospitality. Even the complimentary breakfast was a disaster – cold sausage, no milk, and an overall unappetizing spread. Frankly, this hotel deserves ZERO stars. The Sonesta Essentials Hobby Airport is a disgrace and should be shut down immediately. It desperately needs new management, a complete overhaul, and a commitment to basic hygiene and customer service. This isn't just a bad hotel; it's a health code violation waiting to happen. Stay away. Run far away. You've been warned.

If I could have a zero stars and not one star I would choose. We came in town for our daughter’s mandatory in person Orientation at Texas Southern University. The front desk man( Alex) we asked him if we can cancel our reservation before we checked in he said no. Supervisor Yesenia was rube and terrible customer service and refused to give refund for two rooms. Told us we was check in and she can’t do anything but we need to call customer service we did. They said she could give us refund but refused and had to put in claim because of hotel. Hotel look dark and dim when we drive in and curtains was coming down looking not maintained out all. Walked in lobby smell was off a little and two holes in ceiling. Patches was terribly done holes was busting back open. Chairs in lobby arm rest was extremely dirty and not healthy. People can get sick easily in this motel not a hotel by its look. We said can we see room first and elevator floor was dirty and rug was black and dirty when elevator open on third floor. First room floors and bed, furniture, rug was dirty, stained and unwelcoming, unhealthy as well. Door closet was missing one of the mirrors and broke when tried to move it. Next room rug, furniture was stained and dirty nothing broke. Alice bucket had no bag and lid had mold on it disgusting. When we walked out room smelled Cocaine smoking smell from next door room. Drugs is being used in this Motel supposedly Hotel. Another lady was at desk and told her online advertising of Hotel was very dishonest and bad business. The young lady agreed and apologize and then disappeared when we got on phone with customer service. Supervisor didn’t want to give us a receipt for proof of not staying in Hotel( cancelled reservation) finally gave us one and was very unprofessional… Customer service said that could give us a refund at Hotel. But they refused and customer service at to put in claim for us sad…Bad business management. Alex front desk man, lady and supervisor wasn’t dressed for work very unprofessional and Alex hygiene need care for. Things in his hair white crumbs, very unpleasant sight and concerned. I wouldn’t sleep, stay or eat with my family and friends. They have the same people from old management to new so called management and Loddy had a lot of stuff ( mixed with garbage)from other people. Staff left it and didn’t care about the look of Hotel. Garbage bag left outside of garbage can and garbage can was full as well. Just Nasty seen when we left and looked more around building. We have plenty pictures to prove it.

This is the worst place I've ever stayed at. Timeline: Friday morning: I paid an extra $30 to get a room prior the 3pm check-in. When I got into the room there were no towels, No decorative bedspread. no remote for the TV. and the tile part of the floor in the room was slippery. I ignored the bedspread, and the slippery floor thinking they would bring the bedspread later and the floor would dry. I asked for towels (which I got two hours later). I had to make multiple trips between my room and the front desk as they made me try 4 different remotes until I found one that worked. Then I they made me change the batteries in the remote. Saturday: The hotel has a free continental breakfast, which is supposed to be from 7AM to 10AM on weekends. However, when I came for breakfast at 7:05AM the food was still being prepared. I came back at 7:30AM, the breakfast that had been served was gone. I came back at 7:50, no breakfast, but there was a lady with several plastic Tupperware containers; she had filled the containers with eggs, bacon, sausage, and waffles. There was no fruit, but there was sugary kid cereal. I got breakfast through UBER eats. Saturday night: No towels in my room. I asked the front desk for towels and they said I couldn't have towels until house keeping comes in on Sunday morning at 8am. The floor... is still very slippery. Now I'm wondering what's on this floor? Sunday morning: UBER eats for breakfast again, same problem as Saturday. By the way, I don't blame the people, I blame the establishment, if you don't monitor, the people will take advantage. I asked for towels at 8:30AM. I was told there were no towels because the guests "soil them" and they can't be used!! I asked for clarification, the front desk told me I would not get towels today, when he saw my agitation, he wrote my room number on a list. I was astonished! Texas Heath Code 341.066 states that a Hotel can't rent rooms if they don't have towels, sheets, or adequate running water. At 1PM I went back to the front desk and asked for towels. The front desk told me they still did not have towels. I asked for a manager, the front desk told me they don't have a manager on weekends. I gave the front desk a copy of the Texas Code and told them the Health Department will be notified if they don't get me towels today. I got towels at 1:39pm. Not only do I NOT recommend this Hotel, It should be shut down. The service was terrible, the room was terrible. And I still don't know why I have a slippery slimy floor. I tried moving Saturday night but there are no vacancies anywhere until Monday. I check out Monday morning. Don't stay here! Not...
